Raiders | Latavius Murray has chance to start

Fri, 13 Feb 2015 15:20:25 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray has shown the traits to be a candidate for the starting running back job next season, according to head coach Jack Del Rio. "I think he has shown enough of the traits to make him a candidate to be that guy," Del Rio said. "I don't know that he's earned that yet. He's shown that there is potential there. He's done enough things to pique your interest. He's got size and speed. He can go. There are some things that we will need to work to improve, such as overall awareness and football IQ." Del Rio said the offensive line can do a better job opening more holes for Murray.

Fantasy Tip: Murray received a lot of carries near the end of the season and looks to be in line for the starting job next season. Murray has the chance to be a workhorse for the Raiders and could be a No. 2 running back for owners next season.

Raiders | Latavius Murray to be featured in offense

Wed, 21 Jan 2015 09:40:21 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray is likely to be the team's lead back in 2015, and new offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave plans tailor his system to Murray's talents. Musgrave has guided a top-10 rushing attack in four of his six seasons as an offensive coordinator. Murray had just 82 carries last year and also added 17 catches and 567 total yards of offense.

Fantasy Tip: We saw last year in limited action that Murray is a dynamic runner and can be a special talent in the league. The addition of Musgrave to this offense has to be a good thing for Murray. His upside is high, but be careful not to overspend on him come draft day.

Raiders | New OC good for Latavius Murray?

Mon, 19 Jan 2015 18:40:52 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray could benefit from offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave, who has used a run-heavy style in the past.

Fantasy Tip: Murray flashed some potential at the end of last season. He finished with 424 yards and averaged an impressive 5.2 yards per carry. Put him on the list of potential breakout candidates for next season.

Raiders | Latavius Murray likely will be top back

Sun, 04 Jan 2015 11:15:54 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray likely will be the team's featured running back next season.

Fantasy Tip: Murray played well in the running and passing game during the last seven games of the season and should enter camp as the team's No. 1 running back next season. Owners should consider Murray as a No. 2 running back option in drafts next season.

Raiders | Latavius Murray should play

Fri, 05 Dec 2014 14:39:35 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray (concussion) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 5, and is listed as probable for Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Murray should receive some carries this week but will share the workload with the other running backs. Murray costs $4,800 on FantasyScore but is a risky flex play because of his big-play ability.

Raiders | Raiders excited about Latavius Murray

Fri, 05 Dec 2014 09:29:29 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray had 112 yards and two touchdowns on just four carries against the Kansas City Chiefs, and the team is excited about what he can provide them down the stretch. "I love the way Latavius runs the football," interim head coach Tony Sparano said. "I like what I've seen, but I've seen (14) carries. I want to see more of them. I'm curious, too. I'm curious just like the fans are curious." Despite Sparano's curiosity, he stated that Murray won't immediately be a workhorse back in Week 14 against the San Francisco 49ers. It's likely that RBs Darren McFadden and Maurice Jones-Drew will see significant touches this weekend, but Murray will likely have an increased workload than what he's seen in the past.

Fantasy Tip: Unfortunately for those itching to use Murray ($4,800) at FantasyScore, this probably isn't the week to do it. McFadden ($3,800) should continue to see most of the work, but if he's sharing touches in what now may be a three-headed monster, we don't recommend him for daily lineups.

Raiders | Latavius Murray a full participant

Thu, 04 Dec 2014 15:57:48 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray (concussion) practiced in full Thursday, Dec. 4, after being limited Wednesday, Dec. 3.

Fantasy Tip: Murray has been cleared to play against the San Francisco 49ers, but he won't be the workhorse back for the team. That'll make him hard to trust at FantasyScore as a flex play for $4,800, as he's likely to share touches with Darren McFadden ($3,800).

Raiders | Latavius Murray won't be workhorse

Thu, 04 Dec 2014 05:31:17 -0800

Updating previous reports, Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray won't be the team's workhorse down the stretch, according to interim head coach Tony Sparano.

Fantasy Tip: Murray ($4,800; 9.6% of your cap) carries some risk as a flex option on FantasyScore because the team is down a lot. His fantasy breakthrough game a couple of weeks ago teased his potential, though.

Raiders | Latavius Murray cleared to play

Wed, 03 Dec 2014 20:04:58 -0800

Updating a previous report, Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray (concussion) has been cleared to play in Week 14 against the San Francisco 49ers after missing the previous game due to a concussion.

Fantasy Tip: Murray ($4,800) has the most upside of the team's running backs, but he remains risky since we don't know what kind of workload he'll have against the 49ers. San Fran has been vulnerable on the ground of late, but you should consider Murray a shaky flex play, at best, at FantasyScore.

Raiders | Latavius Murray limited in practice

Wed, 03 Dec 2014 17:05:34 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray (concussion) was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Dec. 3.

Fantasy Tip: Murray burst onto the scene with a strong Week 12 performance against Kansas City in a Thursday night game, but then was inactive last week. Give him a game to prove his health before plugging him back into the FantasyScore lineup.
