Raiders | Latavius Murray mostly bottled up

Sun, 25 Sep 2016 20:12:01 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray carried 10 times for 37 yards and a touchdown in the Week 3 game against the Tennessee Titans. Outside of his 22-yard scoring scamper, he has 15 rushing yards on his nine other totes.

Fantasy Tip: Murray has scored a rushing touchdown in each of his three games so far, but his rushing yardage total has also decreased in each of his games to date. Still, he remains a low-end RB1 in all leagues because of his touchdowns.

Raiders | Latavius Murray in backfield committee?

Mon, 19 Sep 2016 09:40:46 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray will continue to lose carries to DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard, based on comments made by head coach Jack Del Rio following a Week 2 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. "All of our running backs are pretty good. We were running the ball well, and they're all going to play," Del Rio said.

Fantasy Tip: Murray averaged 7.1 yards per carry versus the Falcons with a long run of 18, so his role wasn't being reduced due to ineffectiveness. He also boosted his fantasy bottom line by adding six catches for 44 yards, while Week 1 standout Richard was mostly ineffective. Murray owners may want to see what he can fetch in trade offers this week since his upside will be obviously be limited in a committee, but his offensive line is good enough for him to maintain RB2 value even with a limited workload.

Raiders | DeAndre Washington expected to contribute

Sat, 17 Sep 2016 18:15:04 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB DeAndre Washington had five carries for 14 yards in Week 1, and RB Latavius Murray said Washington is just scratching the surface and will see his "fair share" this season.

Fantasy Tip: Three different players scored rushing touchdowns for Oakland in Week 1, but Washington wasn't among them. He could ultimately emerge as the No. 2 option behind Murray, but Washington is mainly an asset in keeper leagues for now.

Raiders | Latavius Murray to remain featured back

Sat, 17 Sep 2016 09:24:17 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray is still expected to remain the feature back despite losing some carries to Jalen Richard, DeAndre Washington and Jamize Olawale in Week 1, according to ESPN's Paul Gutierrez.

Fantasy Tip: Murray was forced to settle for 14 carries against the New Orleans Saints last week, but that may have been just as much about seeing limited work during the preseason as it was anything else. Expect Richard and Washington to remain involved just enough to keep Murray out of the RB1 discussion but no so much that he can't be considered an every-week starter.

Raiders | Latavius Murray finds end zone

Sun, 11 Sep 2016 19:24:29 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray rushed 14 times for 59 yards and a touchdown in the Week 1 game against the New Orleans Saints. He also added a 13-yard reception.

Fantasy Tip: Murray's fantasy owners likely weren't pleased when they saw the highlights from the corner of their eye and it was Jalen Richard, not Murray, running for a long fourth-quarter TD. However, Murray still had a fairly productive game. He remains a solid low-end RB1 in most fantasy formats despite the presence and occasional touches by Richard, DeAndre Washington and even Jamize Olawale.

Raiders | Latavius Murray's job not in question

Sat, 27 Aug 2016 21:49:12 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray had a limited role in the team's third preseason game Saturday, Aug. 27, against the Tennessee Titans, but head coach Jack Del Rio said it is not indicative of Murray's job being in question. "We saw him last year. We need to find out who will be the backup," Del Rio said.

Fantasy Tip: Murray didn't do much in his limited snaps and touches, but he is the unquestioned No. 1 tailback in Oakland and a solid low-end RB1 in most fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams.

Raiders | Latavius Murray may receive more work

Mon, 15 Aug 2016 14:08:57 -0700

Oakland Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio said he would like RB Latavius Murray to receive more carries than he did last season.

Fantasy Tip: Murray received 266 carries last season and should be able to handle more this season. He should be a focal point for the Raiders this season and can be a No. 2 running back in most leagues.

Raiders | Latavius Murray having strong camp

Sat, 06 Aug 2016 17:35:04 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray is "cruising" through training camp, according to beat writer Vic Tafur.

Fantasy Tip: Murray was one of just seven running backs to top 1,000 yards last year, and while he doesn't have a huge ceiling, he should have a safe floor as a mid-level RB2.

Raiders | Latavius Murray practices

Fri, 05 Aug 2016 11:27:57 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray returned to practice Friday, Aug. 5, after he sat out Thursday, Aug. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Murray is a middling RB2 who posted a nice season through volume in 2015 by staying healthy and starting 16 games. The numbers were underwhelming, though. Murray averaged just 4.0 yard per carry with only six touchdowns, and he'll have to hold off the explosive DeAndre Washington for work in 2016. Murray offers a modest fantasy floor with a limited ceiling.

Raiders | Oakland doesn't have need for RB

Thu, 31 Mar 2016 09:58:00 -0700

Oakland Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio said the Raiders don't have a glaring need for another running back with RB Latavius Murray in the picture. There has been talk this offseason that general manager Reggie McKenzie is looking for help in the backfield. Oakland ranked 28th in the run with 91.1 yards per game and just 3.9 yards per carry in 2015. Del Rio said any new running back Oakland adds will have a chance to compete for carries. "We would like to add somebody in the backfield at some point, but it's not like it's a glaring need," Del Rio said. "We do have a good player there."

Fantasy Tip: Murray topped 1,000 yards in his sophomore campaign and totaled six touchdowns. With Oakland's offense only improving, Murray's upside remains strong, but the Raiders may prefer to keep him fresh as much as possible. Because of that, he's more of an RB2 than RB1 for 2016.

Raiders | Less work for Latavius Murray?

Thu, 25 Feb 2016 16:30:35 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray could be more efficient in 2016 with a lighter workload. Head coach Jack Del Rio said Murray is still growing as a player and he can still work on some things that will make him even better next season.

Fantasy Tip: Murray was one of only seven running backs to eclipse 1,000 rushing yards last season. He added six touchdowns to that milestone. Unfortunately, fumbles were an issue and he did have to carry a heavier workload compared to other starting running backs in the league. Fewer touches don't necessarily mean less production, though. Murray should still be regarded as a RB2 in the fantasy realm.

Raiders | Latavius Murray to have company?

Fri, 12 Feb 2016 18:45:54 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray could have company in the backfield in 2016. ESPN's Adam Caplan believes the Raiders will be looking to add running back depth in the offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Murray topped 1,000 yards last year, but his production varied wildly from one game to the next. He has a chance to be a solid RB2 in 2016, but his value could change dramatically if Oakland brings in another quality back.

Raiders | Latavius Murray coming off career year

Mon, 18 Jan 2016 11:07:32 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray gained 1,865 total yards, including over 1,000 rushing yards, and six touchdowns this year in his second season in the NFL. Murray said the 1,000-yard season is exciting, but he knows there's a lot more for him to do.

Fantasy Tip: Murray came through in what was expected to be a breakout campaign for him, en route to being one of only seven running backs to rush for 1,000 yards. He was one of the few bright spots for the Raiders, and he should be viewed as a low-end RB1 to high-end RB2 heading into next season.

Sun, 03 Jan 2016 21:22:31 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray rushed 11 times for 31 yards in the Week 17 game against the Kansas City Chiefs, and he added four receptions for 25 yards on six targets.

Fantasy Tip: Murray totals 1,066 yards and six rushing touchdowns to emerge as a low-end RB1 or must-start RB2 in 2015. He will be a decent early-round fantasy option with a chance to continue his improvement in 2016.

Raiders | Latavius Murray runs well

Thu, 24 Dec 2015 21:29:29 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray carried the ball 19 times for 79 yards and a touchdown and six catches for 62 yards in a 23-20 win over the San Diego Chargers in Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: Murray went over 1,000 yards for the year, but he has just two 100-yard games and hasn't showed much upside despite a steady workload. He is a matchup-dependent option at FantasyScore.

Raiders | Latavius Murray goes nowhere

Sun, 13 Dec 2015 22:19:13 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray carried the ball 16 times for just 27 yards in the Week 14 game against the Denver Broncos. He was targeted once and did not have any catches.

Fantasy Tip: Murray has been solid at home, but he has struggled on the road, rushing for 59 or fewer yards in each of his past three away from O.co Coliseum. The good news is he is home in Week 15 facing a Green Bay Packers rush defense which was trampled by former Raiders RB Darren McFadden in Week 13.

Raiders | Tough sledding for Latavius Murray

Sun, 29 Nov 2015 17:27:29 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray carried 22 times for 59 yards and had one catch for 23 yards in a 24-21 win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: Murray has underwhelmed the last three games, and there is a chance that he is wearing down in his first season as the feature back. His slump could continue with matchups against Kansas City and Denver on tap the next two weeks.

Raiders | Rough outing for Latavius Murray

Sun, 22 Nov 2015 16:17:12 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray had 13 carries for a season-low 28 yards and a touchdown in an 18-13 loss to the Detroit Lions in Week 11.

Fantasy Tip: Murray continues to dominate the carries in Oakland, but his production has been inconsistent. He has failed to reach 50 rushing yards five times, and he could deliver a dud for fantasy owners on any given week.

Raiders | Latavius Murray due for rebound?

Tue, 17 Nov 2015 11:57:31 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray hasn't scored in four weeks and has only averaged 85.6 rushing yards the last three weeks. He could bounce back this week, though, against a Detroit Lions defense allowing 103.6 rushing yards and more than one rushing touchdown per game on the year.

Fantasy Tip: The matchup is certainly there for Murray ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) to have one of his better games of the season. His recent production may scare owners away, but he's worth strong consideration on FantasyScore if not just for this week.

Sun, 15 Nov 2015 12:30:48 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray (concussion) is active Sunday, Nov. 15, against the Minnesota Vikings.

Fantasy Tip: Murray may not be given his usual amount of playing time after suffering a concussion next week, but he's still starting. The Vikings have been solid versus running backs this year, though, so expectations should be lowered.

Sun, 15 Nov 2015 07:45:15 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray (concussion) is expected to play in Week 10's game against the Minnesota Vikings, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Murray ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) passed all of his concussion tests and was a full participant in practice Friday, Nov. 13, after participating on a limited basis Thursday, Nov. 12. He could be worth a gamble in FantasyScore as a RB2 against a Minnesota defense ranked near the middle of the pack in terms of rushing yards allowed (111.6 yards per game).

Raiders | Amari Cooper, Latavius Murray probable

Fri, 13 Nov 2015 15:41:38 -0800

Oakland Raiders WR Amari Cooper (quadriceps) and RB Latavius Murray (concussion) are both listed as probable for Week 10 against the Minnesota Vikings. Both players were full participants in practice Friday, Nov. 13.

Fantasy Tip: Cooper ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) has been a rookie sensation at wideout and continues to be heavily targeted by Derek Carr. Cooper will remain popular for daily lineups. Murray ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) looks to be cleared from the concussion protocol this week and could be an under-the-radar value play on FantasyScore against an overrated Vikings run defense.

Fri, 13 Nov 2015 11:39:56 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray (concussion) is at practice Friday, Nov. 13, and looks like he'll be able to play in Week 10, barring setbacks.

Fantasy Tip: Murray ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) faces a Minnesota Vikings team in the top five at containing RBs the last five weeks. He's a really suspect option on FantasyScore this week.

Thu, 12 Nov 2015 18:14:14 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray (concussion) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Nov. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Murray ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) is making progress, and assuming he is able to play, he could make a solid RB2 at FantasyScore against a below average Minnesota Vikings run defense in Week 10.

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray (concussion) said he is not dealing with any concussion symptoms and is making progress but is not sure if he will be able to play against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 10.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to keep an eye on the situation to see if Murray ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) will be cleared to play against the Vikings. Murray could be a solid starting option if he plays, but owners should have other options available if he is ruled out.

Wed, 11 Nov 2015 17:43:55 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray (concussion) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Murray ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) will have to pass all of his concussion tests before he is cleared to play, so owners should monitor his situation during the week. Murray could be a solid option if he plays, but owners should have backup plans ready in case he is inactive.

Raiders | Latavius Murray could play

Tue, 10 Nov 2015 17:17:04 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray (concussion) is showing positive signs as he goes through the concussion protocol, according to head coach Jack Del Rio. Del Rio hopes to have Murray back for Week 10.

Fantasy Tip: It's still too early to tell if Murray ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) will be able to play against the Pittsburgh Steelers this week. Whether it's Murray or Taiwan Jones ($4,000, 8.0%) who starts, they may have a tough succeeding against a Pittsburgh defense that has only surrendered two rushing touchdowns to running backs all year.

Mon, 09 Nov 2015 08:48:40 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray (concussion) is in the league's concussion protocol after a helmet-to-helmet hit Sunday, Nov. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Murray might be iffy for the game against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 10. Marcel Reese or Taiwan Jones could be worth a flyer in fantasy if Murray is out.

Sun, 08 Nov 2015 12:38:31 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray (head) left Week 9's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the third quarter, after suffering a possible concussion on a big hit that caused a fumble. He was sent to the locker room to undergo tests and his status for the remainder of the game is unknown.

Fantasy Tip: Murray ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) had 17 carries for 96 rushing yards before exiting the game. Marcel Reece ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) and Taiwan Jones ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) are expected to split the carries for as long as Murray is sidelined. Keep checking back for further updates on his status.

Fri, 06 Nov 2015 19:07:42 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray faces the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road in Week 9, and the Steelers have yet allow a rushing touchdown at home this season.

Fantasy Tip: The Steelers have allowed just two rushing touchdowns overall and rank in the top 10 in fewest rushing yards allowed. Murray ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) may not be the wisest investment at FantasyScore this weekend.

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray had 20 carries for 113 yards in a 34-20 win over the New York Jets in Week 8.

Fantasy Tip: After a couple of rough outings, Murray ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) has been solid the last two weeks. His big day against a stout Jets run defense is encouraging, but he should still be considered a matchup-based play at FantasyScore going forward.

Fri, 23 Oct 2015 12:54:03 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray (shoulder) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 23, and is listed as probable for the Week 7 game against the San Diego Chargers.

Fantasy Tip: Murray ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) should see his normal workload during the game and has a favorable matchup since the Chargers allow the second most fantasy points to opposing running backs. Owners in most leagues should consider using Murray in their starting lineups.

Raiders | Latavius Murray appears healthy

Tue, 20 Oct 2015 07:31:25 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray (shoulder) appears healthy and ready to play in Week 7 after the bye. Murray had 28 touches for a combined 88 yards the last two games after a career-high 139 yards in Week 3. "It's timing," said head coach Jack Del Rio. "You're working on double teams and being able to come off and just some of the little nuances that make the running game go where you do it a little bit better and it turns into an eight-yard gain instead of a three- or four-yard gain. It's what you're after - creating the space and the opportunity for our backs. We've had some examples when we've done it pretty well and we haven't been quite as good as we looked to be. The encouraging thing is we've converted enough on third down to have enough opportunities. If you're getting 25, 26 runs in a game you're getting a decent amount of opportunities to run it, so, that's a positive."

Fantasy Tip: Murray ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) faces the San Diego Chargers in Week 7, who have been exploited by opposing running backs the last three weeks. The Bolts are one of the worst at defending the position in that stretch.

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray (shoulder) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 9, and is listed as probable for the Week 5 game against the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Tip: Murray ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) should see his normal workload in this game despite the injury. Murray has one 100-yard game this season and has posted decent numbers in the other three games. Murray could be a starting option for owners but may want to lower their expectations.

Raiders | OAK HC confident in Latavius Murray

Tue, 06 Oct 2015 12:27:52 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray still has the confidence of head coach Jack Del Rio, despite a rough outing in Week 4 against the Chicago Bears. Murray accounted for two turnovers for Oakland, but Del Rio still believes in his young running back. "I remain confident. We have some good young players. None of us are perfect. We all are capable of making mistakes," Del Rio said. "I think the sooner you own up to mistakes, the quicker you can put them behind you and move forward."

Fantasy Tip: Murray had been one of the better running backs in the NFL prior to Week 4. He's still one of the Raiders' most dangerous weapons, but he'll have to improve his ball protection. The Denver Broncos, Oakland's Week 5 opponent, have allowed 90.2 rushing yards and less than one rushing touchdown per game, so Murray ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) may not be the most valuable play on FantasyScore this week.

Raiders | Latavius Murray benched late

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 17:44:20 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray was benched late in a 22-20 loss to the Chicago Bears in Week 4. He finished with 16 carries for 49 yards and three catches for 12 yards and lost a fumble.

Fantasy Tip: Murray ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) also bobbled a pass that turned into an interception and left temporarily with a shoulder injury, so it was a rough day all around. That being said, he should remain a viable starting option at FantasyScore as long as he is receiving a bulk of the carries.

Fantasy Tip: The Bears allowed Seattle Seahawks backup Thomas Rawls ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) to run for 104 yards in Week 3, and Murray ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) should have no problem piling up yards. Start him with confidence at FantasyScore.

Raiders | OAK trio has historical day

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr, RB Latavius Murray and WR Amari Cooper gained more passing/rushing/receiving yards in Week 3 than any offensive trio under the age of 25 had gained in a single game in NFL history.

Fantasy Tip: The Raiders offense is proving to be legitimate. Carr, Murray and Cooper are a solid corps to build on, and at least Murray and Cooper have turned into every-week starters.

Sun, 27 Sep 2015 18:55:49 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray carried 26 times for 139 yards and a touchdown in the Week 3 game against the Cleveland Browns. He also had a 10-yard reception on his only target.

Raiders | Latavius Murray set to run wild?

Fri, 25 Sep 2015 19:06:50 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray faces the Cleveland Browns in Week 3, and the Browns have allowed a league-high 320 rushing yards through the first two weeks of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Murray ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) has been a workhorse for the Raiders, and his 26 carries are 21 more than any other back on the roster. He should be able to do plenty of damage against Cleveland, making him a great mid-priced play at FantasyScore.

Raiders | Latavius Murray productive in win

Mon, 21 Sep 2015 12:14:19 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray totaled 87 yards and a touchdown while adding three catches in the Raiders' Week 2 victory over the Baltimore Ravens.

Fantasy Tip: Murray only saw 15 carries as Oakland was forced to pass to stay with the Ravens. That could be what hinders Murray from reaching his full potential this season, but he still put forth a solid effort in Week 2. He has now scored twice in as many weeks. He has RB2 status until further notice.

Raiders | Latavius Murray working with hands

Thu, 27 Aug 2015 16:23:43 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray has been working on his hands in order to improve as a receiver and make himself an all-around player.

Fantasy Tip: If Murray can improve his pass-catching, he'll be even more valuable this year. We already know he can effectively run the ball, but catching a few more passes and gaining a few more receiving yards would add to his value, especially in PPR leagues.

Raiders | Latavius Murray taking all starter reps

Thu, 06 Aug 2015 09:03:22 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray has taken all of the first-team repetitions and has looked powerful running, according to beat writer Vic Tafur. "The biggest improvement has been in his explosiveness and his conditioning," Murray's trainer Vinny Scollo told Syracuse.com. "Last year, we really had to taper the workouts and work around his injury. This year, his conditioning, his wind, is 100 percent there."

Fantasy Tip: Murray is being billed as a breakout candidate this season and should be taken as a midrange RB2 with some upside.
