Raiders | Latavius Murray listed as questionable

Fri, 02 Dec 2016 13:32:20 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray (ankle) has been limited all week in practice, but he is expected to play in Week 13 versus the Buffalo Bills despite being listed as questionable on the injury report.

Fantasy Tip: Murray frustratingly loses a few more opportunities to Jalen Richard and Jamize Olawale each game, but at least DeAndre Washington appears to have been removed from the Raiders' committee for now. Since returning from his toe injury in Week 7, Murray has topped 20 touches three times and seen at least 16 in all five games. He is a good bet to score and contribute a bit in the passing game every week, making him a fine RB2.

Fri, 25 Nov 2016 13:49:12 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray (ankle) was limited in practice all week and has been listed as questionable for Week 12 versus the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Tip: The Raiders' vaunted offensive line failed to open many holes for Murray last week, but he saved his fantasy day with five catches for a season-high 59 yards. Murray should have a few more running lanes available to him this week against a Luke Kuechly-less defense, although Oakland may opt to attack Carolina's young secondary instead. Murray is a low-end RB2 this week.

Raiders | Latavius Murray totals 16 touches

Sun, 30 Oct 2016 16:34:51 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray rushed 11 times for 48 yards in the Week 8 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he added five receptions for 23 yards on seven targets.

Fantasy Tip: It wasn't as impressive as his performance last week in Jacksonville when he found the end zone twice, but he had a semi-productive day for fantasy owners in PPR formats. It might be another mediocre stat line in Week 9 against the Denver Broncos. Treat Murray as a low-end RB2 for that outing.

Wed, 26 Oct 2016 19:02:16 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray is expected to handle the bulk of the carries going forward, in the opinion of beat writer Vic Tafur, with the rookie RBs DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard serving as a change of pace.

Fantasy Tip: Murray found the end zone twice last week in Jacksonville in his return to the lineup, and he should be a solid low-end RB2 heading into Week 8 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Raiders | Latavius Murray will play Sunday

Sun, 23 Oct 2016 06:29:30 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray (toe) will play in Week 7's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Murray was limited in practice throughout the week and was officially listed as questionable on the team's most recent edition of the injury report. He should lead a three-man committee that also includes Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington but don't be surprised if he receives most of the snaps since neither player stood out in his absence. View Murray as a low-end RB2 or flex option for this week's game.

Fri, 21 Oct 2016 16:28:12 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray (toe) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 21, and is listed as questionable for Week 7.

Fantasy Tip: Murray appears to be on track to play against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but owners will need to check the inactive list to make sure. He probably will start at running back but may have to share work with DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard during the game. Murray can be considered a low-end No. 2 running back or flex option for owners.

Raiders | Latavius Murray expected back Week 7

Thu, 20 Oct 2016 19:06:37 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray (toe) is likely to return in Week 7 against the Jacksonville Jaguars after missing the last two weeks due to turf toe.

Fantasy Tip: Neither DeAndre Washington nor Jalen Richard separated himself from the pack in Murray's absence, so Murray will likely go back to leading a three-man committee Sunday so long as he doesn't experience a setback. Given the crowded house that is Oakland's backfield, Murray is no better than a high-upside flex at the moment.

Raiders | Latavius Murray has good session

Wed, 19 Oct 2016 21:23:41 -0700

Updating a previous report, Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray (toe) had a good practice session Wednesday, Oct. 19, in terms of what he was asked to do, a source said. Murray remains day to day.

Fantasy Tip: Murray may or may not be able to suit up for Week 7 in Jacksonville, but you can expect DeAndre Washington, Jalen Richard and Jamize Olawale to still handle plenty of snaps with Murray being eased in, if active. Murray isn't worth using in most fantasy formats at this point.

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray (toe) is making progress from his toe injury, but his status for Week 7 is uncertain at this point, according to head coach Jack Del Rio.

Raiders | Latavius Murray misses practice again

Fri, 14 Oct 2016 12:09:38 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray (toe) remained sidelined at practice Friday, Oct. 14.

Fantasy Tip: With another missed practice under his belt, it's looking more likely that Murray will not be able to suit up on Sunday. If that's the case, DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard should get an even workload in leading the backfield again, though it was the latter option who produced more yards with his touches in Week 5.

Raiders | Latavius Murray still not practicing

Thu, 13 Oct 2016 19:40:39 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray (toe) remained out of practice Thursday, Oct. 13.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to see if Murray will be able to participate in practice this week to have a better idea of his status for Week 6. He should be a solid No. 2 running back if he plays, but owners will need other options ready in case he is ruled out.

Raiders | Latavius Murray a no-go vs. Chargers

Fri, 07 Oct 2016 13:44:50 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray (toe) has been ruled out for Week 5 against the San Diego Chargers due to a turf toe injury.

Fantasy Tip: Despite some brief optimism during the middle of the week, this was the expected outcome and Murray's Week 6 availability should not be taken for granted either. While the Raiders have talked up getting DeAndre Washington more involved, they have been utilizing a strict committee so far, so expect Jalen Richard to steal 8-10 touches. Washington should be the slightly better play in fantasy in a plus-matchup. He's a strong flex option this week and a worthwhile gamble in DFS as well.

Raiders | Latavius Murray expected to miss Week 5

Fri, 07 Oct 2016 12:26:12 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray (turf toe) is not expected to play in the team's Week 5 game Sunday, Oct. 9, against the San Diego Chargers.

Fantasy Tip: As long as that's the case, owners should begin making their running back plans to include rookie DeAndre Washington, who should receive a desirable workload as a result. Washington has just 147 rushing yards through the first four games, but that's come on only 23 carries, which is good for a terrific 6.4 yards per attempt. He'll have RB2 potential.

Raiders | Latavius Murray sits out practice

Thu, 06 Oct 2016 16:04:48 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray (toe) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 6.

Fantasy Tip: This is the second straight day Murray has been sidelined in practice. It's looking like he may not play in the team's Week 5 contest, but even if he does, he seems to be straying away from RB3 reliability. Sooner or later, DeAndre Washington could be the one who emerges as Oakland's lead back, and has certainly exhibited some notable ability thus far in his rookie campaign.

Raiders | Latavius Murray has turf toe

Thu, 06 Oct 2016 12:48:10 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray (toe) is dealing with turf toe, according to sources. Offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave said he hopes Murray will be able to play in Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should monitor the situation over the next few days to see if Murray will have a chance to play in Week 5. He will be a risky option if he plays but could still be a No. 2 running back in most leagues. DeAndre Washington likely would start if Murray is ruled out and can be a decent flex option.

Raiders | Latavius Murray is banged up

Wed, 05 Oct 2016 19:05:24 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray (foot) is dealing with a foot injury, and while he wants to play in the Week 5 game against the San Diego Chargers, sources say it appears doubtful he'll be able to go.

Fantasy Tip: If Murray is inactive for Week 5, look for DeAndre Washington to shoulder the load with Jalen Richard also factoring in with an increase in offensive snaps. Washington would be a nice flex fantasy option, especially if bye weeks are a concern for you.

Raiders | Latavius Murray goes nowhere fast

Sun, 02 Oct 2016 19:45:07 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray rushed eight times for just 19 yards in the Week 4 game against the Baltimore Ravens, and he had two grabs for only five yards.

Fantasy Tip: Murray had scored a rushing touchdown in each of his first three games, but he was stuck in neutral in this one. Treat him as more of an RB2 in most fantasy leagues heading into Week 5 against San Diego. It might not be a bad idea to scoop up DeAndre Washington as a handcuff, if available.

Raiders | Latavius Murray mostly bottled up

Sun, 25 Sep 2016 20:12:01 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray carried 10 times for 37 yards and a touchdown in the Week 3 game against the Tennessee Titans. Outside of his 22-yard scoring scamper, he has 15 rushing yards on his nine other totes.

Fantasy Tip: Murray has scored a rushing touchdown in each of his three games so far, but his rushing yardage total has also decreased in each of his games to date. Still, he remains a low-end RB1 in all leagues because of his touchdowns.

Raiders | Latavius Murray in backfield committee?

Mon, 19 Sep 2016 09:40:46 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray will continue to lose carries to DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard, based on comments made by head coach Jack Del Rio following a Week 2 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. "All of our running backs are pretty good. We were running the ball well, and they're all going to play," Del Rio said.

Fantasy Tip: Murray averaged 7.1 yards per carry versus the Falcons with a long run of 18, so his role wasn't being reduced due to ineffectiveness. He also boosted his fantasy bottom line by adding six catches for 44 yards, while Week 1 standout Richard was mostly ineffective. Murray owners may want to see what he can fetch in trade offers this week since his upside will be obviously be limited in a committee, but his offensive line is good enough for him to maintain RB2 value even with a limited workload.

Raiders | DeAndre Washington expected to contribute

Sat, 17 Sep 2016 18:15:04 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB DeAndre Washington had five carries for 14 yards in Week 1, and RB Latavius Murray said Washington is just scratching the surface and will see his "fair share" this season.

Fantasy Tip: Three different players scored rushing touchdowns for Oakland in Week 1, but Washington wasn't among them. He could ultimately emerge as the No. 2 option behind Murray, but Washington is mainly an asset in keeper leagues for now.

Raiders | Latavius Murray to remain featured back

Sat, 17 Sep 2016 09:24:17 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray is still expected to remain the feature back despite losing some carries to Jalen Richard, DeAndre Washington and Jamize Olawale in Week 1, according to ESPN's Paul Gutierrez.

Fantasy Tip: Murray was forced to settle for 14 carries against the New Orleans Saints last week, but that may have been just as much about seeing limited work during the preseason as it was anything else. Expect Richard and Washington to remain involved just enough to keep Murray out of the RB1 discussion but no so much that he can't be considered an every-week starter.

Raiders | Latavius Murray finds end zone

Sun, 11 Sep 2016 19:24:29 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray rushed 14 times for 59 yards and a touchdown in the Week 1 game against the New Orleans Saints. He also added a 13-yard reception.

Fantasy Tip: Murray's fantasy owners likely weren't pleased when they saw the highlights from the corner of their eye and it was Jalen Richard, not Murray, running for a long fourth-quarter TD. However, Murray still had a fairly productive game. He remains a solid low-end RB1 in most fantasy formats despite the presence and occasional touches by Richard, DeAndre Washington and even Jamize Olawale.

Raiders | Latavius Murray's job not in question

Sat, 27 Aug 2016 21:49:12 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray had a limited role in the team's third preseason game Saturday, Aug. 27, against the Tennessee Titans, but head coach Jack Del Rio said it is not indicative of Murray's job being in question. "We saw him last year. We need to find out who will be the backup," Del Rio said.

Fantasy Tip: Murray didn't do much in his limited snaps and touches, but he is the unquestioned No. 1 tailback in Oakland and a solid low-end RB1 in most fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams.

Raiders | Latavius Murray may receive more work

Mon, 15 Aug 2016 14:08:57 -0700

Oakland Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio said he would like RB Latavius Murray to receive more carries than he did last season.

Fantasy Tip: Murray received 266 carries last season and should be able to handle more this season. He should be a focal point for the Raiders this season and can be a No. 2 running back in most leagues.

Raiders | Latavius Murray having strong camp

Sat, 06 Aug 2016 17:35:04 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray is "cruising" through training camp, according to beat writer Vic Tafur.

Fantasy Tip: Murray was one of just seven running backs to top 1,000 yards last year, and while he doesn't have a huge ceiling, he should have a safe floor as a mid-level RB2.

Raiders | Latavius Murray practices

Fri, 05 Aug 2016 11:27:57 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray returned to practice Friday, Aug. 5, after he sat out Thursday, Aug. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Murray is a middling RB2 who posted a nice season through volume in 2015 by staying healthy and starting 16 games. The numbers were underwhelming, though. Murray averaged just 4.0 yard per carry with only six touchdowns, and he'll have to hold off the explosive DeAndre Washington for work in 2016. Murray offers a modest fantasy floor with a limited ceiling.

Raiders | Oakland doesn't have need for RB

Thu, 31 Mar 2016 09:58:00 -0700

Oakland Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio said the Raiders don't have a glaring need for another running back with RB Latavius Murray in the picture. There has been talk this offseason that general manager Reggie McKenzie is looking for help in the backfield. Oakland ranked 28th in the run with 91.1 yards per game and just 3.9 yards per carry in 2015. Del Rio said any new running back Oakland adds will have a chance to compete for carries. "We would like to add somebody in the backfield at some point, but it's not like it's a glaring need," Del Rio said. "We do have a good player there."

Fantasy Tip: Murray topped 1,000 yards in his sophomore campaign and totaled six touchdowns. With Oakland's offense only improving, Murray's upside remains strong, but the Raiders may prefer to keep him fresh as much as possible. Because of that, he's more of an RB2 than RB1 for 2016.

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray could be more efficient in 2016 with a lighter workload. Head coach Jack Del Rio said Murray is still growing as a player and he can still work on some things that will make him even better next season.

Fantasy Tip: Murray was one of only seven running backs to eclipse 1,000 rushing yards last season. He added six touchdowns to that milestone. Unfortunately, fumbles were an issue and he did have to carry a heavier workload compared to other starting running backs in the league. Fewer touches don't necessarily mean less production, though. Murray should still be regarded as a RB2 in the fantasy realm.
