Braves | Alex Wood pitches well Wednesday

Wed, 27 May 2015 22:54:41 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Alex Wood allowed one run on seven hits in seven innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers Wednesday, May 27. He struck out six batters and walked two during the game.

Fantasy Tip: Wood ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) has pitched well in each of his last two games but will have a 3.50 ERA entering his next start. He is scheduled to face the Arizona Diamondbacks in his next outing and could be a solid option on FantasyScore.

Braves | Alex Wood available Sunday

Sat, 23 May 2015 17:41:14 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Alex Wood (illness) could pitch out of the bullpen Sunday, May 24, if needed, manager Fredi Gonzalez said Saturday, May 23.

Fantasy Tip: Wood ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) appears to be recovering well from the stomach virus that forced him to miss his last start, and if he doesn't throw in relief Sunday, he should make a start sometime next week. That being said, he has been up and down so far this season, and he is only worth considering at FantasyScore when he draws a solid matchup.

Braves | Alex Wood scratched vs. Brewers

Fri, 22 May 2015 13:05:12 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Alex Wood (illness) was scratched from his start against the Milwaukee Brewers Friday, May 22, due to a stomach virus. SP Eric Stults will start for Atlanta Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Wood ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) in all fantasy formats Friday, especially daily contests. Check back for updates on when he'll make his next start. Stults ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) should be viewed as nothing more than a desperation flier for FantasyScore players Friday. He is currently sporting a 5.36 ERA, a 1.29 WHIP and a 5.6 K/9.

Braves | Alex Wood to pitch Tuesday

Tue, 07 Apr 2015 04:08:54 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Alex Wood is the starter against the Miami Marlins on Tuesday, April 7.

Fantasy Tip: Wood ($7,000, 14% of cap) takes a while to get warmed up, as evidenced by his 2-4 mark in April of last season. Still, he has a 2.93 ERA in the month, which isn't bad. He was 2-2 with a 3.07 ERA against the Marlins, with an impressive three walks and 31 strikeouts. It's worth the gamble.

Braves | Rotation in flux

Mon, 14 Jul 2014 14:02:18 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Ervin Santana will pitch Friday, July 18, the team's first game after the All-Star break, against the Philadelphia Phillies, according to manager Fredi Gonzalez. Gonzalez has not confirmed the rotation after Santana, but said it depends on if SP Julio Teheran will get one or two days of extra rest. Teheran will pitch Saturday, July 19, or Sunday, July 20. Expect left-handed SPs Mike Minor and Alex Wood to be split up in the rotation and not pitch consecutively. Wood and Minor will either pitch the second and fourth or the third and fifth games out of the break. SP Aaron Harang will pitch the fourth or fifth game coming out of the break.

Fantasy Tip: Santana gets an excellent chance to start strong in the second half against the Phillies' weak offense. Otherwise, check back for further details, but the Miami Marlins head to Atlanta Monday, July 21, which is another plus-matchup.
