Cubs | Kris Bryant awarded Rookie of the Year

Mon, 16 Nov 2015 15:23:54 -0800

Chicago Cubs 3B Kris Bryant won the National League Rookie of the Year Award Monday, Nov. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant arrived as advertised in 2015 and returned fantasy owners with 87 runs, 26 home runs, 99 RBI and a .275/.369/.488 slash line over 650 plate appearances. While Bryant also struck out 199 times, it didn't significantly impact his fantasy results, and the arrow is pointing straight up for the youngster. View Bryant as a top-tier third baseman entering the 2016 season, and he is worth targeting early in drafts.

Cubs | CHC to explore trade talk for two players

Sun, 15 Nov 2015 14:14:56 -0800

Chicago Cubs OF Jorge Soler and 2B Javier Baez are the subject of trade interest, and the team will explore offers, according to sources. 3B Kris Bryant, SS Addison Russell and OF Kyle Schwarber are also attracting attention but the club does not intend to move them.

Fantasy Tip: Soler and Baez would bring back pitching, which is what the Cubs sorely need more of at the moment. Soler will get attention in the middle rounds of most mixed drafts, and Baez figures to go a bit lower.

Cubs | Kris Bryant struggling in playoffs

Tue, 20 Oct 2015 22:27:03 -0700

Chicago Cubs 3B Kris Bryant was hitless in four at-bats with two strikeouts in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series Tuesday, Oct. 20, against the New York Mets.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) has managed just five hits in 31 at-bats so far during the postseason while driving in a total of three runs in eight games. The future is bright for Bryant, but right now he isn't worth using in FantasyScore.

Cubs | Kris Bryant slumping

Sat, 10 Oct 2015 19:14:47 -0700

Chicago Cubs 3B Kris Bryant went 0-for-4 in a 6-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 2 of the National League Division Series Saturday, Oct. 10, and he is 3-for-34 with no RBI over his past nine games, including 0-for-11 with a walk in the first three games of the postseason.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) is always one swing away from ending his slump, but in the meantime, he is a boom-or-bust option at FantasyScore.

Cubs | Kris Bryant sits Thursday

Thu, 01 Oct 2015 07:04:39 -0700

Chicago Cubs 3B Kris Bryant is out of the lineup Thursday, Oct. 1, with 2B Starlin Castro hitting third.

Fantasy Tip: Castro ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) had an insane .426-5-20 line in September and is well worth the midrange grab on FantasyScore against lefty John Lamb.

Cubs | Anthony Rizzo with a rare off day

Mon, 28 Sep 2015 13:22:59 -0700

Chicago Cubs 1B Anthony Rizzo is taking the day off Monday, Sept. 28. 3B Kris Bryant moves across the diamond to first base, while 2B Tommy La Stella is starting at third base and is hitting cleanup against Kansas City Royals SP Yordano Ventura.

Fantasy Tip: La Stella ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) is a deep sleeper option in daily lineups today with a favorable lineup position. In limited at-bats this year he's hit considerably better against righties (.294-1-9) in 51 of his 55 at-bats.

Cubs | Kris Bryant en fuego

Wed, 23 Sep 2015 11:21:49 -0700

Chicago Cubs 3B Kris Bryant is hitting .359 (46-for-128) with 11 doubles, a triple, 10 home runs and 32 RBI in his last 33 games.

Fantasy Tip: Continue to ride Bryant ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) on FantasyScore during his hot streak. Another solid matchup against Milwaukee Brewers starter Zach Davies is more reason to use him tonight.

Cubs | Kris Bryant ties club record

Sat, 19 Sep 2015 18:35:11 -0700

Chicago Cubs 3B Kris Bryant went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI, two runs scored and a walk in a 5-4 win over the St. Louis Cardinals Saturday, Sept. 19, and his 25 home runs are tied for the most by a rookie in franchise history.

Fantasy Tip: In addition to his 25 homers, Bryant ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) is up to 95 RBI this year, and he has the type of power upside that can take a FantasyScore lineup to another level if you own him on the right night.

Cubs | Kris Bryant resting Friday

Fri, 18 Sep 2015 09:27:27 -0700

Chicago Cubs 3B Kris Bryant is not in the starting lineup Friday, Sept. 18. 2B Tommy La Stella is starting at the hot corner and is hitting fifth against St. Louis Cardinals SP Lance Lynn.

Fantasy Tip: La Stella ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) shouldn't be high on your list of players to play at second base in daily games. He's hitting only .250 against righties this year in limited time and has only one home run on the year.

Cubs | Chris Coghlan out against lefty

Tue, 15 Sep 2015 14:12:08 -0700

Chicago Cubs OF Chris Coghlan is not in the lineup against Pittsburgh Pirates left-handed SP J.A. Happ in Game 2 of a doubleheader Tuesday, Sept. 15. 3B Kris Bryant moves to right field and 2B Javier Baez draws the start at third base while hitting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Baez ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) hasn't been bad since coming up, hitting .289 (11-for-38), but he has only one home run and nine strikeouts. Happ has been hard to hit in his time with Pittsburgh, so temper your expectations for Baez tonight.
