Cubs | Kris Bryant continues power surge

Thu, 21 May 2015 18:34:50 -0700

Chicago Cubs 3B Kris Bryant hit a home run in the first inning against the San Diego Padres Thursday, May 21, extending his hitting streak to 10 games and giving him five home runs in his last 39 at-bats.

Fantasy Tip: It took a while for Bryant ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) to find his power stroke, but he showing his immense potential in a big way lately. The rookie could run hot and cold throughout the year, but he is a great option at FantasyScore while he is rolling.

Cubs | Kris Bryant in midst of hit streak

Tue, 19 May 2015 15:21:51 -0700

Chicago Cubs 3B Kris Bryant is hitting .455 (10-for-22) with three home runs and eight RBI during his current seven-game hitting streak.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) is back in the lineup Tuesday after leaving Sunday with an illness. Bryant has really turned it up a notch with the bat in May, and he continues to get on base at a rapid pace. He's never really a bad option at FantasyScore, but against James Shields, the San Diego Padres' ace, Bryant could struggle to return value. Bryant had a rough go of it against Shields in his major league debut last month.

Cubs | Kris Bryant leaves game

Sun, 17 May 2015 13:34:11 -0700

Chicago Cubs 3B Kris Bryant (illness) left the team's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday, May 17, due to feeling under the weather.

Fantasy Tip: It was humid in Chicago on Sunday, so Bryant ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) could have developed heat exhaustion. It sounds like this is a one-time occurrence and will not affect him moving forward.

Cubs | Kris Bryant struggling

Wed, 06 May 2015 12:41:38 -0700

Chicago Cubs 3B Kris Bryant is hitting .158 (3-for-19) with 11 strikeouts in his last six games, and he is still without a home run on the young season.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) is due to have his ups and downs in his rookie season, and the power will eventually come, perhaps in bunches. The good news is that despite high strikeout numbers, he's taking his fair share of walks, too. His price at FantasyScore still makes him attractive despite a recent slump.

Fantasy Tip: Soler ($3,900, 7.8% of cap), Rizzo ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) and Bryant ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) should all be looked at as strong FantasyScore plays this evening while Lyons make his season debut in the Red Birds' rotation tonight.

Cubs | Kris Bryant drawing walks

Tue, 05 May 2015 13:05:45 -0700

Chicago Cubs 3B Kris Bryant has 16 walks in 16 games to start his major league career, and he's tied for sixth in the National League in that department. His .458 on-base percentage is tied for third in the NL.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) is surely holding his own in the majors while hitting .291 (16-for-55) with 11 RBI, but his fantasy owners are left desiring more from the super prospect, as he has yet to hit his first major league home run. That'll come eventually, and he remains a solid daily play because he continues to get on base consistently.

Cubs | Kris Bryant in minor funk

Mon, 04 May 2015 13:29:38 -0700

Chicago Cubs 3B Kris Bryant is just 6-for-22 (.188 batting average) over his past nine games. He was hitting .409 through his first six major league games.

Fantasy Tip: Peaks and valleys will be the norm for Bryant ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) this season. What is more surprising is he hasn't hit a home run. All said, he is currently has seven runs, 11 RBI, two stolen bases and a .278/.418/.370 slash line. Add a little pop at the expense of his on-base percentage going forward, and fantasy owners should be pleased with his production. Bryant has the makings of a high-risk, high-reward play all season long for FantasyScore players.

Cubs | Kris Bryant homerless

Sat, 02 May 2015 14:19:13 -0700

Chicago Cubs 3B Kris Bryant hasn't hit a home run in his first 13 games and 59 plate appearances.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) will eventually get untracked. MLB.com reporter Carrie Muskat points out Billy Williams took 79 at-bats and 29 games to hit his first homer, and he turned out fine. Bryant is up to stay barring a massive slump and is doing fine.
