Ravens | Steve Smith still producing

Mon, 29 Sep 2014 12:35:28 -0700

Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith is one of four wide receivers with more than 40 targets and at least 400 receiving yards so far this year.

Fantasy Tip: Smith has perhaps been the biggest surprise in all of fantasy football this season. While his rate of production isn't likely to continue, he could maintain his WR1 status by season's end, especially considering the absence of TE Dennis Pitta and the struggles of WR Torrey Smith.

Ravens | Steve Smith hurts former team

Sun, 28 Sep 2014 14:51:51 -0700

Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith posted game highs with seven receptions, 139 yards and two touchdowns in Week 4 against the Carolina Panthers, his former team. He was targeted a game-high 10 times. It was Smith's 46th career 100-yard game.

Fantasy Tip: The Panthers discarded Smith during the offseason, believing he no longer had anything left. The Ravens, and fantasy owners, are obviously finding out otherwise. Smith has re-emerged as a must-start fantasy option in all formats.

Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith (non-injury) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 26, and is listed as probable for Week 4.

Ravens | Steve Smith sits out practice

Thu, 25 Sep 2014 13:12:28 -0700

Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith (non-injury related) did not practice Thursday, Sept. 25.

Fantasy Tip: The indication was that this was simply a day off for Smith, who should be good to go against his former team in the Carolina Panthers. Smith's FantasyScore price is $6,600, though the Panthers have been less than accommodating to wide receivers so far this year.

Ravens | Steve Smith targeted often

Thu, 25 Sep 2014 05:57:37 -0700

Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith Sr is the eighth-most targeted player in the NFL with 31 targets. QB Joe Flacco is also looking to him in clutch situations.

Fantasy Tip: Smith should have an extra-crunchy chip on his shoulder this week against the Carolina Panthers. He will cost you $6,600 (13.2% of your cap) on FantasyScore, which is pretty cheap with how well he has produced.

Ravens | Steve Smith targeted heavily

Fri, 12 Sep 2014 05:46:49 -0700

Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith was targeted 10 times in Week 2 and hauled in six catches for 71 yards. WR Torrey Smith had just three targets and caught one pass for 10 yards in the game.

Fantasy Tip: Smith looks to be Joe Flacco's new favorite target. At $3,700 (7.4% of your cap) on FantasyScore, he was a decent buy this week. Torrey Smith could be the bargain next week depending on how much Steve Smith's price tag jumps.

Ravens | Steve Smith impressing fellow WRs

Tue, 12 Aug 2014 19:39:41 -0700

Baltimore Ravens WR Torrey Smith said that after watching WR Steve Smith play, he is surprised that the Carolina Panthers let him go in the offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Smith and Jacoby Jones will likely have the higher-scoring games because of their big-play ability down the field, but Smith could end up being the most consistent week-to-week fantasy option among the Baltimore receivers this year. He is currently healthy after dealing with a knee injury last year, and he will likely inherit more of the possession role that Anquan Boldin filled two years ago. Consider him a solid bench option at the WR spot, especially in PPR formats.

Ravens | Steve Smith impressing

Wed, 23 Jul 2014 14:40:09 -0700

Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith's hands have impressed Ravens QB Joe Flacco. "Just his natural ability to catch the ball with his hands," Flacco said. "He catches everything with his hands, and he does a great job doing it."

Fantasy Tip: Smith is a viable WR4 but can be had at the cost of a No. 5. He will be a weekly flex play consideration for deeper leagues.

Ravens | Steve Smith expected to be used underneath

Thu, 17 Jul 2014 14:05:45 -0700

Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith is expected to run mostly underneath routes this upcoming season from the outside receiver and slot positions, because WR Torrey Smith and Jacoby Jones are expected to be the big-play threats.

Fantasy Tip: Smith likely will have a starting job this upcoming season and should help move the chains on many occasions. Owners in point-per-reception leagues should consider Smith as a No. 4 receiver, because he probably will receive a lot of targets. He should be a solid No. 4 or a possible value pick as a No. 5 receiver in standard leagues.
