Ravens | Steve Smith in better shape

Mon, 10 Aug 2015 11:21:48 -0700

Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith is down to 5% body fat this season, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

Fantasy Tip: Smith was one of the bigger surprises in football last year in his first season with the Ravens. While he probably won't duplicate his output from 2014, he should still be viewed as a WR3 in standard leagues.

Ravens | Steve Smith in final season

Mon, 10 Aug 2015 10:08:45 -0700

Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith has announced that he will retire after the 2015 season.

Fantasy Tip: Smith has had a very god career and will look to finish it off with another productive season. He should have a solid role in the passing game this season and could be a middle- to late-round option in a majority of drafts.

Ravens | Steve Smith missing practice

Sat, 08 Aug 2015 13:44:27 -0700

Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith is out of practice Saturday, Aug. 8, for the second straight day.

Fantasy Tip: There's no word as to whether he has a malady or it's just rest for the veteran wideout. Smith came out of the gates like a war beast last year and tapered off. He's a bust candidate this year and probably should be a WR3.

Ravens | Lardarius Webb could return punts

Wed, 17 Jun 2015 18:36:23 -0700

Baltimore Ravens CB Lardarius Webb would like to be the team's primary punt returner this season, in addition to being a starting cornerback. He has previous experience returning punts but has been used mainly in a fair-catch role since the 2011 season. He was spotted catching punts in practice this week along with CB Asa Jackson and WRs DeAndre Carter and Steve Smith, although Smith is unlikely to be used in the role due to his importance to the offense. WR Michael Campanaro (quadriceps) is also in the mix, although he will be sidelined until training camp.

Ravens | Steve Smith could sing swan song

Fri, 29 May 2015 08:48:33 -0700

Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith could be entering his final season at the age of 36 in 2015. Smith signed a three-year deal with the team in 2014 and planned to play at least two of those years. He left it open for playing another season beyond this one. "I really don't have the family structure to chase 40, to be honest," Smith said. "I have got a lot of things on my to-do list that don't have anything to do with football. I'm going to take it day by day, but I will not be playing until I'm 40."

Fantasy Tip: Smith got off to a huge start last season and eventually came back to Earth. He had a 41-675-4 line in his first eight games but tailed off with a 38-390-2 line in his last eight. Don't be tantalized by his early season totals on draft day, and he's a low-end WR2 in PPR.

Ravens | Steve Smith may see less snaps

Tue, 19 May 2015 18:31:23 -0700

Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith could see his snaps drop this season, because the team wants to keep him healthy during the season, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

Fantasy Tip: Smith will be 36 years old when the season starts, so it may be a good idea to lessen his workload. He posted 79 catches, 1.065 yards and six touchdowns this past season but could see a dip in his stats if he does see less time. Smith could still be a solid option in the middle rounds of drafts next season.

Sun, 11 Jan 2015 08:24:45 -0800

Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith plans to play next season, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Smith had a strong first season with the Ravens and should continue to have a solid role in the passing game next season. Smith likely will be taken in the middle rounds of fantasy drafts next season.

Ravens | Steve Smith shaken up

Sat, 10 Jan 2015 14:22:15 -0800

Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith (leg) was down at the conclusion of the first quarter of the divisional-playoff game Saturday, Jan. 10. He missed one play and returned to the game.

Fantasy Tip: He appeared to be clutching his left leg in the hamstring or knee area and was shown on the sideline walking it off. It apparently isn't serious, but it's something to watch moving forward.

Ravens | Steve Smith strong early

Sat, 10 Jan 2015 14:02:40 -0800

Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith has three catches midway through the first quarter, including a touchdown. NBC analyst Cris Collinsworth said that teams have attacked New England Patriots CB Darrelle Revis with crossing patterns in recent weeks.

Fantasy Tip: Smith has caught three balls for 44 yards, including that touchdown, on crossing routes. He appears to have been a good bet at $5,900 on FantasyScore early on.

Ravens | Steve Smith to meet Revis Island

Wed, 07 Jan 2015 07:01:12 -0800

Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith is expected to line up against New England Patriots CB Darrelle Revis for most of the divisional-round playoff game Saturday, Jan. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Smith ($5,900; 11.8% of your cap) has a tough matchup and has really fallen off since the early part of the season. Smith is a WR2 with a dark matchup cloud over him on FantasyScore.
