Phillies | Maikel Franco likely to return

Wed, 26 Aug 2015 20:36:38 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 3B Maikel Franco (wrist) is expected to return to action later this season, according to interim manager Pete Mackanin.

Fantasy Tip: About a week ago, it appeared as though Franco ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) might be finished for the season, so this is good news for fantasy owners. Andres Blanco ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) will continue to receive most of the starts at the hot corner for the Phils until he returns.

Phillies | Maikel Franco takes grounders

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 22:50:57 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 3B Maikel Franco (wrist) was able to grounders before the game Tuesday, Aug. 25, against the New York Mets. However, no timetable has been set for Franco's return.

Fantasy Tip: Franco ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) should be avoided in FantasyScore until he can officially return and prove his health in back-to-back games without any setbacks.

Phillies | Maikel Franco done for the year?

Tue, 18 Aug 2015 16:05:59 -0700

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Phillies 3B Maikel Franco (wrist) could miss the rest of the season with a non-displaced fracture in his left wrist. He was put on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, Aug. 18. The Phillies said they will be "cautious" with Franco for the rest of the year, and he'll wear a splint for the next two to three weeks before he's evaluated, according to general manager Ruben Amaro Jr.

Fantasy Tip: Franco ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) has been one of the most promising youngsters in baseball this season and was in the running for Rookie of the Year. Dumping him in shallow leagues if you don't have the room isn't a terrible idea. Cesar Hernandez ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is having a fine season himself and should see most of the starts at third base. He's effective as a value pick on FantasyScore, mainly for his speed.

Phillies | Maikel Franco placed on disabled list

Tue, 18 Aug 2015 14:03:47 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 3B Maikel Franco (wrist) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured left wrist Tuesday, Aug. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Franco ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) is worth stashing in all seasonal formats, as he has been an excellent contributor for Philly. The rookie owns a .277/.340/.490 slash line with 13 home runs and 48 RBI over 77 games this season. Cesar Hernandez ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) projects to receive everyday starts at third base going forward, while Chase Utley ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) mans the keystone position.

Phillies | Maikel Franco still out Tuesday

Tue, 18 Aug 2015 12:18:06 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 3B Maikel Franco (wrist) will miss his fifth straight game Tuesday, Aug. 18, due to a wrist injury. 3B Cesar Hernandez is batting second in the lineup against Toronto Blue Jays SP R.A. Dickey.

Fantasy Tip: Franco ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) was thought to be back early this week, but apparently he still needs a little work. Hernandez ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) carries little FantasyScore value with a weak batting average of .176 over the last seven days.

Phillies | Maikel Franco still not available

Sun, 16 Aug 2015 10:51:34 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 3B Maikel Franco (wrist) is not in the starting lineup against Milwaukee Brewers SP Taylor Jungmann Sunday, Aug. 16. SS Andres Blanco will start at third base and is batting fifth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Franco ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) may be able to return soon, so owners should continue to monitor his situation. Blanco ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) is hitting .313 in limited playing time this month but may not be the best option for owners on FantasyScore.

Phillies | Maikel Franco could return Tuesday

Sat, 15 Aug 2015 19:48:04 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 3B Maikel Franco (wrist) could return to the lineup Tuesday, Aug. 15, against the Toronto Blue Jays, according to manager Pete Mackanin.

Fantasy Tip: Franco ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) has been solid in his first extended stint in the majors, but he has struggled with left-handed pitching. Given his price tag at FantasyScore, make sure the matchup is right before paying up for Franco.

Phillies | Cesar Hernandez playing third base

Sat, 15 Aug 2015 12:10:55 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 3B Maikel Franco (wrist) remains out of the starting lineup against Milwaukee Brewers SP Jimmy Nelson Saturday, Aug. 15. INF Cesar Hernandez will play the hot corner and bat second.

Fantasy Tip: Consider Franco ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) day-to-day, since the injury is not believed to be serious enough to require a stint on the disabled list. Hernandez ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) is batting .326 during the month of August and is 2-for-3 with an RBI in his career against Nelson, making him an attractive option for FantasyScore owners in search of a productive infielder at a cap-friendly price.

Phillies | No Maikel Franco vs. Brew Crew

Fri, 14 Aug 2015 14:18:30 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 3B Maikel Franco (wrist) continues to sit out Friday, Aug. 14. 2B Cesar Hernandez is starting at third base and is hitting second against Milwaukee Brewers SP Wily Peralta.

Fantasy Tip: Franco's injury isn't serious, so he could be back in the lineup at some point this weekend. Hernandez ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) has quietly excelled for the lowly Phillies and is a fine value pick on FantasyScore against Peralta, who has been inconsistent since his return from the DL. Hernandez's main asset is his speed atop the Philly lineup.

Phillies | Maikel Franco unlikely for Friday

Wed, 12 Aug 2015 19:08:29 -0700

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Phillies 3B Maikel Franco (wrist) was out of the lineup Wednesday, Aug. 12, against the Arizona Diamondbacks and manager Pete Mackanin said he does not expect Franco to be available for the road series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers Friday, Aug. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Franco ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) should be avoided in FantasyScore until he can officially return to the lineup and prove his health in a full game without any setbacks. Andres Blanco ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) made the start in Franco's absence Wednesday.
