Phillies | Maikel Franco drives in three in rout

Mon, 27 Jun 2016 22:21:49 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 3B Maikel Franco finished 2-for-5, including an RBI single in the sixth inning and a two-run single in the seventh, in an 8-0 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday, June 27.

Fantasy Tip: Consistency has not been Franco's bag in 2016, as 27 of his team-high 40 RBI have come in 10 games this season. However, the fact the 23-year-old has been able to drive in that many runs for the majors' second-worst offense is a feat in and of itself. Franco is batting .243, has scored 25 runs and doesn't steal bases to go along with his 12 homers and 40 RBI, making him a fringe corner infield option in most leagues.

Phillies | Maikel Franco breaks out of slump

Tue, 21 Jun 2016 22:13:34 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 3B Maikel Franco snapped an 0-for-16 skid by going 2-for-4 with four RBI - including a three-run blast in the eighth inning - in a wild 14-10 loss to the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday, June 21.

Fantasy Tip: Franco only has hits in three of his last 11 games; interestingly, all three of them are two-hit efforts. After a hot start to the season, the 23-year-old is slashing .239/.284/.421, so owners probably consider him a fringe starter for the time being.

Phillies | Maikel Franco out of lineup

Mon, 20 Jun 2016 08:42:12 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 3B Maikel Franco is out of the lineup Monday, June 20, with 3B Andres Blanco hitting cleanup.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco continues to see spots in the middle of the order, but the production isn't following. He has a .243-1-4 line this month, and he's a pass against Shelby Miller.

Phillies | Maikel Franco back in lineup

Thu, 16 Jun 2016 11:49:11 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 3B Maikel Franco (knee) is back in the starting lineup and is hitting third against Toronto Blue Jays SP J.A. Happ Thursday, June 16.

Fantasy Tip: Franco missed the last three games with his knee ailment but appears to be fine for now. Get him back into your starting lineups in all seasonal leagues. You may want to be a bit more patient in daily setups, though, to have him prove his health.

Phillies | Maikel Franco still sidelined

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 12:18:06 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 3B Maikel Franco (knee) is out of the starting lineup again Wednesday, June 15. 2B Andres Blanco is at the hot corner and is hitting third against Toronto Blue Jays SP Marco Estrada.

Fantasy Tip: Franco has now missed the last three games. If he's forced to sit out much longer, the Phils may consider putting him on the DL. Stay tuned. Blanco doesn't move the fantasy needle much with a .265/.316/.390 slash line and 13 career home runs in nine seasons. Consider him a low-end middle infield option in daily leagues.

Phillies | Maikel Franco may play Wednesday

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 17:56:39 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 3B Maikel Franco (knee) hopefully will be able to play against the Toronto Blue Jays Wednesday, June 15, according to manager Pete Mackanin.

Fantasy Tip: Franco has missed the last two games because of the injury, so owners will need to check on his status before the game Wednesday. He is a solid fantasy option if he is healthy, but owners should have other options ready if he misses another game.

Phillies | Maikel Franco out again

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 07:08:14 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 3B Maikel Franco (knee) is out of the lineup Tuesday, June 14, with 3B Andres Blanco hitting third.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco has DFS upside because he's hitting third. However, he is not the prototypical three-hole hitter that can packs an offensive punch. He's also facing Marcus Stroman, and he's hitting just .227 this month with a .262-2-11 line on the year. Pass on him.

Phillies | Maikel Franco day-to-day

Mon, 13 Jun 2016 14:36:33 -0700

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Phillies 3B Maikel Franco (knee) is sitting Monday, June 13, versus the Toronto Blue Jays due to a mild right knee sprain. He's being considered day-to-day.

Fantasy Tip: Franco must have sustained the injury on Sunday, though he did homer in his final at-bat during that same game, so this appears to have come out of nowhere. Fortunately, it's just a day-to-day ailment. Andres Blanco is starting in his place on Monday and batting third, so his stock obviously gets a boost in Franco's absence.

Phillies | Maikel Franco takes a seat

Mon, 13 Jun 2016 13:44:20 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 3B Maikel Franco is not in the starting lineup Monday, June 13. 2B Andres Blanco is starting at the hot corner and is hitting third against Toronto Blue Jays SP R.A. Dickey.

Fantasy Tip: It's probably just a routine day of rest for the young third baseman. Blanco has a .266/.326/.468 slash line in 2015 with two home runs and 11 RBI. He had a career high of seven long balls last year, so he won't help you out in the power department in DFS. Despite the nice lineup spot, there is limited fantasy upside here.

Phillies | Maikel Franco homers

Sun, 05 Jun 2016 14:33:19 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 3B Maikel Franco hit his 10th homer of the season and his second in the last four games Sunday, June 5. The Phillies beat the Milwaukee Brewers, 8-1.

Fantasy Tip: Franco had a .172 average in the past seven days, but he should still be started in all fomats. His line of .250-10-31 is decent, and Franco is off to a .273 start at the plate for the month of June.
