Phillies | Maikel Franco starts July with a bang

Wed, 01 Jul 2015 19:27:42 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 3B Maikel Franco went 3-for-4 with three doubles, a walk and a run scored in a 9-5 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers Wednesday, July 1.

Fantasy Tip: Franco ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) had eight home runs and 24 RBI in June, and he picked right up where he left off. The 22-year-old probably can't keep up his current pace, but in the meantime, he is worth a look at FantasyScore whenever he draws a decent matchup.

Phillies | Maikel Franco snaps skid

Sun, 28 Jun 2015 17:14:29 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 3B Maikel Franco snapped a 0-for-10 slump, going 3-for-9 with three RBI and two runs scored combined in a doubleheader against the Washington Nationals Sunday, June 28.

Fantasy Tip: Franco ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) had piled up three homers and 10 RBI in the two games prior to the slump, and while the occasional skid can be expected from the youngster, he is showing enough upside to use him at FantasyScore against friendly matchups.

Phillies | Ryan Howard sitting out

Sat, 27 Jun 2015 08:59:29 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Ryan Howard is not in the starting lineup against Washington Nationals SP Gio Gonzalez Saturday, June 27. 3B Maikel Franco will start at first base and is batting third, while SS Andres Blanco will start at third base and is batting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Howard ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) likely is sitting out because the team is facing a left-handed pitcher. Franco ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) has recorded 13 hits and 11 RBI in his last seven games and should be a starting option on FantasyScore. Blanco ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has six RBI in his last three games and is hitting .292 in limited playing time in June, but owners may be able to find better options.

Philadelphia Phillies 3B Maikel Franco went 2-for-3 with a double, home run, five RBIs and two runs scored Tuesday, June 23, against the New York Yankees.

Fantasy Tip: Franco ($4,900; or 9.8% of cap) has managed 10 RBIs over the past two games, and he has 10 homers since May 17. Needless to say, he is amped for his first career action at Yankee Stadium and is worth using in FantasyScore for the series finale Wednesday.

Phillies | Jeff Francoeur, Andres Blanco starting

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 12:47:13 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Jeff Francoeur and SS Andres Blanco are starting against New York Yankees SP CC Sabathia Tuesday, June 23. Francoeur is playing left field and hitting fifth, while Blanco is starting at third base and hitting seventh. 3B Maikel Franco moves over to first base, while 1B Ryan Howard serves as the designated hitter. OF Cody Asche will start on the bench.

Fantasy Tip: Francoeur ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) and Blanco ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) are desperation sleeper plays on FantasyScore. Francoeur is 4-for-20 (.200) in his career against Sabathia. Franco ($4,900, 9.8% of cap), who hit two home runs last night, continues to be an attractive daily commodity at his price, especially while facing a lefty that has struggled against righty sticks this year.

Mon, 22 Jun 2015 21:57:54 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 3B Maikel Franco had two home runs and career highs of four hits and five RBIs Monday, June 22, against the New York Yankees.

Fantasy Tip: Franco ($4,900; or 9.8% of cap) is one of the only Philadelphia hitters worth using in FantasyScore on a semi-regular basis.

Phillies | Maikel Franco streaking

Sun, 21 Jun 2015 17:37:27 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 3B Maikel Franco went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored in a 9-2 win over the St. Louis Cardinals Sunday, June 21, and he is 7-for-13 over his last three games.

Fantasy Tip: Franco ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) has at least two hits in each of his last three games, and his average is up to .294. The league will likely adjust to the youngster at some point, but in the meantime, he is worth a look at FantasyScore.

Phillies | Maikel Franco ejected

Mon, 15 Jun 2015 22:09:45 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 3B Maikel Franco was hitless in three at-bats with two strikeouts Monday, June 15, against the Baltimore Orioles and he was ejected in the seventh inning for arguing balls and strikes.

Fantasy Tip: Franco ($4,900; or 9.8% of cap) recently had a lengthy hit streak, but he is now hitless over the past two outings. Growing pains come with young players. FantasyScore owners will want to wait until he starts to hit again before plugging him back in.

Phillies | Maikel Franco stays hot

Sat, 13 Jun 2015 20:59:47 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 3B Maikel Franco went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored Saturday, June 13, against the Pittsburgh Pirates to push his hitting streak to 11 games.

Fantasy Tip: Franco ($3,900; or 7.8% of cap) has the second-longest active streak in the majors behind Colorados Troy Tulowitzki. At this price level he is a slam-dunk play in FantasyScore considering the fact he is hitting .431 (19-for-44) during the impressive run while scoring nine runs and driving in eight.

Phillies | Maikel Franco fine after foul ball

Wed, 10 Jun 2015 19:49:49 -0700

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Phillies 3B Maikel Franco (foot) fouled a ball off of his right foot Wednesday, June 10, against the Cincinnati Reds, but despite being in a lot of pain he walked it off and remained in the game to extend his hitting streak to nine games.

Fantasy Tip: Franco ($3,900; or 7.8% of cap) is a fantastic FantasyScore option while he is running hot. He is hitting .444 (16-for-36) with eight runs scored, four homers and eight RBIs during his nine-game hit streak.
