Dodgers | Alex Guerrero cut by Dodgers

Tue, 31 May 2016 16:26:44 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Alex Guerrero will be designated for assignment Tuesday, May 31, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Guerrero hadn't played for the Dodgers this year, but he managed a .233 average with 11 home runs and 36 RBI in 106 games last year. He has decent pop for a utility player, and he could latch on with another organization and become relevant for depth in single-universe leagues.

Dodgers | Alex Guerrero starting rehab

Tue, 10 May 2016 14:39:59 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Alex Guerrero (knee, groin) is starting his rehab assignment Tuesday, May 10, at Class A Rancho Cucamonga.

Fantasy Tip: Guerrero showed some potential last year in his first full season, swatting 11 homers and 36 RBI as mostly a part-time player across 106 ballgames. However, while he should be able to make his season debut within a month, it remains to be seen how much playing time he'll receive, though he is capable of playing many positions.

Dodgers | LA Dodgers send several players to DL

Sun, 03 Apr 2016 13:13:16 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Andre Ethier (leg) was among a number of players placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday, April 3. Joining him were SP Hyun-Jin Ryu (shoulder), SP Brandon McCarthy (elbow), 2B Howie Kendrick (calf), INF Alex Guerrero (knee), C Yasmani Grandal (forearm), SP Brett Anderson (back), SP Mike Bolsinger (oblique) and RP Josh Ravin (wrist).

Fantasy Tip: Los Angeles' pitching depth figures to be tested right off the bat, as Ryi is expected to be out another month while McCarthy and Anderson may not return until the second half. Ethier's absence should make Carl Crawford a full-time player again until around June, making the ex-Tampa Bay Ray standout a fine under-the-radar fantasy option. The other notable name here is Grandal, who should be a serviceable catcher in fantasy if he is healthy. He is expected back in mid-April.

Dodgers | Alex Guerrero to open on DL

Thu, 31 Mar 2016 15:50:12 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 2B/OF Alex Guerrero (knee) had an MRI exam that showed "minimal damage" in his knee, and he'll open the season on the disabled list, according to manager Dave Roberts.

Fantasy Tip: Guerrero would be a lot more intriguing because of his power skills if he were to have an everyday role, but that's unlikely to happen in L.A. barring a major injury to a starter. For now, he's mainly depth material in NL-only leagues.

Dodgers | Alex Guerrero close to returning

Thu, 10 Mar 2016 12:47:00 -0800

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Alex Guerrero (knee) is expected to return to game action sooner than 2B Howie Kendrick (groin) and 3B Justin Turner (knee), according to manager Dave Roberts. Guerrero is already taking batting practices and fielding grounders, but Roberts noted he was not comfortable with Guerrero playing in a game yet.

Fantasy Tip: Guerrero has intriguing power, but he doesn't have a full-time position and projects to bounce around defensively in a utility role. He is currently only an option in NL-only and cavernous mixed leagues. However, he did have a five-bomb run through 20 at-bats early last season to highlight his pop potential. Guerrero is a player to watch in all formats.

Dodgers | Alex Guerrero doing baseball activities

Mon, 07 Mar 2016 08:09:01 -0800

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Alex Guerrero (knee) has resumed baseball activities.

Fantasy Tip: Playing time has been the issue for Guerrero as L.A.'s super utility player. He has notable power, though, so if an injury were to open up significant playing time, he'd certainly be attractive in mixed leagues.

Dodgers | Alex Guerrero scratched from lineup

Sat, 05 Mar 2016 12:55:34 -0800

Los Angeles Dodgers INF Alex Guerrero (knee) was scratched from the lineup on Saturday, March 5, due to left knee soreness.

Fantasy Tip: Guerrero may find some playing time early in the season while Justin Turner is eased back following microfracture knee surgery, but the 29-year-old is unlikely to make much of an impact in fantasy when the Dodgers are at full strength. Guerrero's positional versatility and decent pop could make him an attractive trade target as the season progresses, however.

Dodgers | Alex Guerrero exclusively at 3B

Wed, 02 Mar 2016 09:16:03 -0800

Los Angeles Dodgers INF Alex Guerrero will work exclusively as a third baseman this spring, according to manager Dave Roberts.

Fantasy Tip: Guerrero flashed some power last season, but he has a long climb to find playing time. He might be a fringe NL-only option, but he's mostly a watch-list player this spring.

Dodgers | Alex Guerrero trade bait

Thu, 11 Feb 2016 11:38:23 -0800

The Los Angeles Dodgers are attempting to trade OF Alex Guerrero and are talking to numerous teams, according to sources. His best fit might be in the American League.

Fantasy Tip: Guerrero had 11 home runs in just 219 at-bats last year, so he obviously has attractive power if he's able to go somewhere where he can secure regular playing time. He could still be attractive in deep mixed and NL-only leagues in a utility role with the Dodgers, but he'd be more of a daily commodity if he stays.

Dodgers | Justin Turner resting Sunday

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 11:10:41 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 3B Justin Turner is not in the starting lineup against San Diego Padres SP Casey Kelly Sunday, Oct. 4. INF Alex Guerrero will play the hot corner and bat eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Guerrero ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) is 9-for-26 (.346) with five RBIs since Sept. 1, following a dismal July and August. However, he has only homered once since the All-Star break and is just batting .179 at Dodger Stadium this season, so he is a somewhat risky FantasyScore play.
