White Sox | Jose Abreu batting second

Sat, 27 Jun 2015 10:07:13 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Jose Abreu is batting second against Detroit Tigers SP Kyle Ryan Saturday, June 27. It marks the first time in Abreu's major league career that he is hitting in the No. 2 spot. OF Avisail Garcia will bat in the No. 3 spot, followed by DH Adam LaRoche, OF Melky Cabrera and SS Alexei Ramirez.

Fantasy Tip: The White Sox have scored 19 runs in their last four games, so it's uncertain what brought upon this lineup shakeup. Abreu ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) is 2-for-5 in his career against Ryan and is batting .323 over the last week.

White Sox | Jose Abreu launches No. 12

Sat, 13 Jun 2015 05:24:35 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Jose Abreu hit his 12th home run of the season during Chicago's 7-5 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays Friday, June 12. Abreu finished the game 4-for-2 with a run and two RBI.

Fantasy Tip: It was the third consecutive game Abreu ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) has left the yard, and in each outing he posted two hits and two RBI. The slugger is heating up at the plate, and he showcased he can post counting stats in bunches during the 2014 campaign. Facing Chris Archer Saturday, June 13, isn't likely the best time to hone in on the first baseman, but while Abreu is hot, he should be on your radar whenever he faces a favorable pitching matchup.

White Sox | Jose Abreu feeling stronger

Tue, 09 Jun 2015 21:25:18 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Jose Abreu went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and two runs scored Tuesday, June 9, against the Houston Astros. He said through a translator that he has been doing endurance training all season, and is getting results. "Yes, I feel very good, very strong," Abreu said.

Fantasy Tip: Abreu ($5,300; or 10.6% of cap) has 12 RBIs over his past 12 games and is an obvious must-play in FantasyScore, especially against right-handed pitching.

Wed, 03 Jun 2015 21:56:35 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Jose Abreu (finger) hit a two-run homer un Wednesday, June 3, against the Texas Rangers in his return to the lineup. He missed three games due to a swollen right index finger.

Fantasy Tip: It appears safe to get Abreu ($5,300; or 10.6% of cap) back into the lineup in FantasyScore. He also added an RBI single in the fourth inning.

White Sox | Jose Abreu returns to lineup

Wed, 03 Jun 2015 15:01:04 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Jose Abreu (finger) is back in the starting lineup against Texas Rangers SP Nick Martinez Wednesday, June 3, and he's serving as the designated hitter. 1B Adam LaRoche is playing first base and hitting cleanup.

Fantasy Tip: Even though Abreu ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) missed a few games with an injured finger, he should remain a safe and solid FantasyScore option tonight against Martinez. Taking Abreu could work even better for your daily lineups today if some are scared off by his recent injury.

White Sox | Jose Abreu doing fine

Tue, 02 Jun 2015 15:34:46 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Jose Abreu (finger) is improving, and general manager Rick Hahn and manager Robin Ventura said the team isn't rushing him back into action.

Fantasy Tip: Abreu ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) is being treated with a day-to-day designation, so he could be back in the lineup as soon as tomorrow. Stay tuned. Once he's back in there, he should go back to being a strong option on FantasyScore.

White Sox | Jose Abreu still out Tuesday

Tue, 02 Jun 2015 14:18:59 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Jose Abreu (finger) remains out of the starting lineup Tuesday, June 2. 1B Adam LaRoche is starting at first base and hitting third in the batting order against Texas Rangers SP Colby Lewis. 3B Conor Gillaspie is serving as the designated hitter and batting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Keep tabs on Abreu's progress in the coming days. LaRoche ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) could be a nice value play on FantasyScore this evening against Lewis. LaRoche has hit all six of his home runs this year against right-handers and owns an .820 OPS against them. Gillaspie ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) is a lukewarm option these days for daily enthusiasts, and he's hitting just .252 (27-for-107) with two home runs against righties.

White Sox | Jose Abreu could return Tuesday

Sun, 31 May 2015 11:45:31 -0700

Updating previous reports, Chicago White Sox 1B/DH Jose Abreu (finger) is hoping to return to the starting lineup against the Texas Rangers Tuesday, June 2. He has noticed improvement in his right index finger and believes an additional day of treatment will reduce the swelling.

Fantasy Tip: Fortunately for Abreu ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) and the White Sox, he did not sustain ligament damage in his finger. Even though Abreu and manager Robin Ventura are optimistic about his return to action following the team's off day Monday, June 1, FantasyScore owners would be best served waiting several games before considering him for their lineups again.

White Sox | Jose Abreu remains out

Sun, 31 May 2015 10:56:27 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Jose Abreu (finger) is not in the starting lineup Sunday, May 31. 3B Gordon Beckham will be the starting third baseman, while 3B Conor Gillaspie will be the designated hitter.

Fantasy Tip: Abreu's ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) timetable is uncertain at this point, so owners should watch for any updates. Beckham ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) and Gillaspie ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) are cheaper option on FantasyScore, but owners should be able to find better options.
