New York Mets SP Jacob deGrom won't be skipped to limit his innings just yet, as he allowed one run in 13 1/3 innings in road starts against the Seattle Mariners and Milwaukee Brewers last week. General manager Sandy Alderson previously said the team would like to hold deGrom to 185 innings for the year, and he currently is 59 2/3 innings short of that mark. The Mets could either shut deGrom down when he reaches his innings limit or find a rotation turn later in the year to skip him.
Fantasy Tip: deGrom is probably a hot commodity now if he's available on any waiver wires. If you already owned him, now might be the time to see if anyone will take him off your hands.

New York Mets SPs Bartolo Colon, Dillon Gee and Zack Wheeler will pitch against the San Diego Padres in next weekend's series, which begins Friday, July 18. Manager Terry Collins has not determined the rest of the rotation, but said SP Jacob deGrom will remain in the starting rotation.
Fantasy Tip: Jon Niese's health will influence the backend of the rotation going forward. However, it appears Daisuke Matsuzaka will lose his spot when Niese returns. deGrom's value stabilizes, and he is emerging as a viable option in mixed leagues.

New York Mets SP Jacob deGrom allowed a run on five hits and fanned eight in seven innings to beat the Miami Marlins Sunday, July 13.
Fantasy Tip: He has now struck out 27 batters in his last 19 innings, spanning three starts. Start scooping him up in mixed leagues.

New York Mets SP Jacob deGrom tied career highs with seven innings pitched and 11 strikeouts Tuesday, July 8, against the Atlanta Braves. He did not allow a run or walk with seven hits. Only two other pitchers in franchise history have had a pair of 11-strikeout performances in their first 11 major league outings - Nolan Ryan and Dwight Gooden.

New York Mets SP Dillon Gee (lat) will pitch another rehab start Friday, July 4, with Single-A Brooklyn.
Fantasy Tip: Gee's return is near and he is worth a look in mixed leagues, if he is available. Daisuke Matsuzaka and Jacob deGrom are the candidates to lose their rotation spot, with Matsuzaka returning to the bullpen the likely scenario.

New York Mets SP Dillon Gee (lat) is only expected to return from the disabled list for one major league start before the All-Star break. He made his second rehab start and threw 55 pitches over 2 2/3 innings Sunday, June 29. SPs Daisuke Matsuzaka and Jacob deGrom should each be assured two starts apiece before Gee returns.
Fantasy Tip: deGrom and Dice-K are the most vulnerable to lose their rotation spot to Gee following the All-Star break. We'd bet on the Mets moving Matsuzaka back to the bullpen over a demotion for deGrom.

New York Mets SP Jacob deGrom, who is 0-2 with a 7.80 ERA in three starts this month, could be moved to the bullpen when SP Dillon Gee (lat) is activated from the disabled list. "Certainly (deGrom's) stuff could play in the bullpen," manager Terry Collins said. "The issue is his durability. Can he get up every day? Can he get up three days a week? That becomes the question - any time you're looking at a young pitcher who has not pitched out of the bullpen, are they going to be able to get up and get their arm ready? And if they get up, how long is it going to take to get their arm ready, because sometimes they've got to speed it up. One of the things we're going to have to do is watch him early and make sure we give him enough time to get loose." SP Daisuke Matsuzaka is another option to be moved to the bullpen when Gee rejoins the rotation.

New York Mets SP Jacob deGrom left in the seventh inning Saturday, May 31, against the Philadelphia Phillies with a one-run lead, but took a no-decision in a game which eventually went to extra innings. DeGrom struck out 11 batters, but matched Ron Darling as the only pitcher in franchise history to start his career with four quality starts and no wins to show for his efforts.
Fantasy Tip: With Rafael Montero demoted back to the minors, deGrom appears to have a spot in the rotation for the immediate future. He is worth adding in all NL-only fantasy leagues and some deeper mixed formats if you need pitching depth. He has been a pleasant surprise.

The New York Mets don't plan to skip SP Rafael Montero in the starting rotation next time through. The team plans to limit Montero to 180 innings this year. SP Jacob deGrom, who threw 147 2/3 innings last season, will likely be capped around 175 innings. Because of deGrom's nice debut Thursday, May 16, it's unknown which rookie will be sent to the bullpen when SP Dillon Gee (lat) returns from the disabled list. Manager Terry Collins said it's unlikely both Montero and deGrom remain in the rotation when Gee returns.
Fantasy Tip: Montero and deGrom are both top pitching prospects for the team. Montero is more intriguing for fantasy baseball owners, though, and we expect he'll be kept in the rotation over deGrom, depending on both pitcher's results in the next few weeks.

The New York Mets placed SP Dillon Gee (lat) on the 15-day disabled list with a strained lat Wednesday, May 14, and recalled SP Rafael Montero from Triple-A Las Vegas in a corresponding move. SP Jacob deGrom will take Gee's place in the rotation and make his major league starting debut Thursday, May 15.
Fantasy Tip: deGrom is one of the team's top pitching prospects. Scoop him up immediately if he's available in your NL-only league.
