Updating a previous report, New York Mets SP Jacob deGrom (shoulder) is ready to come off the 15-day disabled list to start Saturday, Aug. 23, against the Los Angeles Dodgers. "Right now he's on schedule to pitch Saturday," manager Terry Collins said Tuesday, Aug. 19. "He threw absolutely great (Tuesday), so we're hoping he's going to pitch on Saturday."
Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners will want to be cautious, letting deGrom get through one full start without any setbacks. If he looks good against a solid Los Angeles lineup it will be safe to plug him back into the active fantasy lineup for the upcoming scoring period.

Updating a previous report, New York Mets SP Jacob deGrom (Shoulder) said he felt fine after his throwing session Tuesday, Aug. 19. deGrom noted he is ready to pitch during the current road trip, and he would be able to pitch the remainder of the season and stay within his innings limit.
Fantasy Tip: This is great news for fantasy owners. deGrom was in a serious groove before his injury. It might be worth giving him a start to get comfortable in a game setting, though.

New York Mets SP Jacob deGrom (shoulder) is scheduled to throw Saturday, Aug. 16, for the first time since he was placed on the 15-day disabled list. The team originally expected deGrom to miss only two starts, but manager Terry Collins is not sure if deGrom will be ready at that point.

New York Mets SP Daisuke Matsuzaka's (elbow) role when activated from the disabled list will depend on SP Jacob deGrom's (shoulder) health, and SP Rafael Montero's performance, according to manager Terry Collins. Montero will start Sunday, Aug. 17, against the Chicago Cubs. If deGrom is not ready to make his next start, and Montero pitches poorly Sunday, Collins could turn to Matsuzaka to start until deGrom is ready to return.

Updating a previous report, New York Mets SP Jacob deGrom (shoulder) said Tuesday, Aug. 12, that he was already feeling better. New York Mets SP Jacob deGrom (shoulder) will start throwing when the swelling subsides in his shoulder, which will be in the next five to six days, according to manager Terry Collins. deGrom said he hopes to only miss two starts.
Fantasy Tip: deGrom was placed on the disabled list with rotator cuff tendinitis, halting his scorching 9-game run. He registered six wins, 60 strikeouts in 59 1/3 innings and posted a 1.82 ERA during the stretch. Hopefully, the injury doesn't slow deGrom down when he returns.

New York Mets SP Rafael Montero is expected to make two starts for the team, with the first one coming against the Washington Nationals Tuesday, Aug. 12. The Mets expect SP Jacob deGrom (shoulder) to return from the disabled list after missing only two starts. Montero has regained some of his control while pitching at Triple-A Las Vegas, and he was named the Pacific Coast League pitcher of the week. Montero had tossed 14 2/3 scoreless inning in his last two minor league starts.
Fantasy Tip: Montero has some serious upside in the major leagues if he can fix his control issues for good. However, he's clearly a short-term option for the rotation this year with deGrom's injury not serious. Montero is a fine candidate to join keeper and dynasty formats in the near future, if he isn't there already.
