Lions | Eric Ebron may receive extension

Wed, 17 May 2017 11:42:24 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron said he has talked with general manager Bob Quinn about a possible contract extension.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron posted a career-high 711 receiving yards in 2016 but recorded only one touchdown in 13 games. He has missed at least two games in each of the last three seasons, so he does have a bit of an injury concern. He probably can be considered a low-end No. 1 tight end in deeper fantasy leagues.

Lions | Eric Ebron progressing nicely

Sat, 13 May 2017 08:30:22 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron has yet to play 16 games in a season for the Lions, but he set career-highs last year in receptions (61) and yards (711) last season. He has also improved as a blocker, while his drop rate went from 10.1 percent in 2015 to 5.8 percent in 2016 even as he was targeted 17 more times and had a higher percentage of targets per route run and receptions per route run, according to ESPN's Michael Rothstein.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron will complain about the fact he scored only one touchdown, but the evidence does support Rothstein's assertion. The tight end position is one of the hardest for young players to learn, and Ebron entered the league more as a glorified slot than in-line tight end. He's climbed into TE1 territory for fantasy purposes and can be expected to take another leap forward this year so long as he stays healthy for the first time in his career.

Lions | Eric Ebron's option exercised

Tue, 02 May 2017 05:30:27 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron had his fifth-year option exercised Tuesday, May 2.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron continues to tease with his athletic ability and continues to go down to injury. He had career highs of 61 catches and 711 yards last season but just one touchdown. This will be a pivotal year for him as a midrange TE1 in fantasy.

Lions | No decision made on Eric Ebron's option

Fri, 21 Apr 2017 09:09:16 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron remains a candidate to have his fifth-year option worth more than $8 million picked up by the May 2 deadline, but general manager Bob Quinn has yet to make that decision.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron has steadily improved over his first three years in Detroit, but he has still been a bit of a disappointment, especially considering Odell Beckham Jr. and Aaron Donald went two and three picks after him, respectively. Miami (Fla.) TE David Njoku has been a popular mock draft selection for the Lions this spring, perhaps in part because second-year position coach Al Golden recruited him to the Hurricanes.

Lions | Eric Ebron looking for 1,000-yard season

Mon, 16 Jan 2017 16:09:08 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron said his goal for next season is to have a 1,000-yard season. He said another goal is to stay healthy for the entire season.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron will be a free agent this offseason but should be able to find a starting job with a team during free agency. He has had problems with injuries during his career but can be considered a No. 2 tight end in fantasy drafts if he stays healthy.

Lions | Eric Ebron likely returning

Thu, 05 Jan 2017 20:33:45 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron's fifth-year option will likely be picked up, according to beat writer Dave Birkett, and head coach Jim Caldwell said Ebron has performed well and has improved every year.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron's numbers continue to trend in the right direction. If he is back in Detroit in 2017, he has a good chance to sneak into TE1 territory.

Lions | Eric Ebron keeps progressing

Sat, 31 Dec 2016 19:05:26 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron is "functioning better" this season, according to head coach Jim Caldwell, and Caldwell said Ebron has the talent and ability to continue to improve.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron has improved his catch and yardage totals in each of his first three seasons. He is a borderline TE1 option in deeper leagues against the Packers in Week 17.

Lions | Eric Ebron busy on Monday night

Mon, 26 Dec 2016 21:50:34 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron posted game highs with eight catches, 93 yards and 12 targets in the Week 16 game against the Dallas Cowboys Monday, Dec. 26.

Fantasy Tip: The yardage total was a season high, which is nice, but he hasn't scored a touchdown since Week 1. He faces the Green Bay Packers in Week 17, a team he posted five grabs for 69 yards on eight targets back in Week 3.

Lions | Eric Ebron likely to play Sunday

Sun, 18 Dec 2016 06:37:59 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) is expected to play in Week 15's game against the New York Giants, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron was limited in practice all week and was listed as questionable on the injury report. Although he will probably see a decent number of targets, he has underachieved recently and hasn't reached the end zone since Week 1. He should be viewed as no better than a low-end TE1 in deep seasonal leagues.

Lions | Eric Ebron questionable for Week 15

Fri, 16 Dec 2016 16:47:03 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 16, and is listed as questionable for Week 15.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron should be on the field against the New York Giants this week and should see a decent amount of targets during the game. He has posted only 70 yards in the last three games and could be avoided if owners have better options to use.
