Lions | No decision made on Eric Ebron's option

Fri, 21 Apr 2017 09:09:16 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron remains a candidate to have his fifth-year option worth more than $8 million picked up by the May 2 deadline, but general manager Bob Quinn has yet to make that decision.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron has steadily improved over his first three years in Detroit, but he has still been a bit of a disappointment, especially considering Odell Beckham Jr. and Aaron Donald went two and three picks after him, respectively. Miami (Fla.) TE David Njoku has been a popular mock draft selection for the Lions this spring, perhaps in part because second-year position coach Al Golden recruited him to the Hurricanes.

Lions | Eric Ebron looking for 1,000-yard season

Mon, 16 Jan 2017 16:09:08 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron said his goal for next season is to have a 1,000-yard season. He said another goal is to stay healthy for the entire season.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron will be a free agent this offseason but should be able to find a starting job with a team during free agency. He has had problems with injuries during his career but can be considered a No. 2 tight end in fantasy drafts if he stays healthy.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron's numbers continue to trend in the right direction. If he is back in Detroit in 2017, he has a good chance to sneak into TE1 territory.

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron posted game highs with eight catches, 93 yards and 12 targets in the Week 16 game against the Dallas Cowboys Monday, Dec. 26.

Fantasy Tip: The yardage total was a season high, which is nice, but he hasn't scored a touchdown since Week 1. He faces the Green Bay Packers in Week 17, a team he posted five grabs for 69 yards on eight targets back in Week 3.

Lions | Eric Ebron likely to play Sunday

Sun, 18 Dec 2016 06:37:59 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) is expected to play in Week 15's game against the New York Giants, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron was limited in practice all week and was listed as questionable on the injury report. Although he will probably see a decent number of targets, he has underachieved recently and hasn't reached the end zone since Week 1. He should be viewed as no better than a low-end TE1 in deep seasonal leagues.

Thu, 15 Dec 2016 13:40:26 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) was limited limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron and the Lions offense have a difficult matchup on the road against the New York Giants this week. Ebron is a fringe TE1, but temper expectations if there aren't better starting options on your roster.

Lions | Eric Ebron also limited

Wed, 14 Dec 2016 13:41:06 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) was limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 14.

Fantasy Tip: For the most part, it's hard to be comfortable with any tight end nowadays, including Ebron. If he is active, he's at best a fringe TE1, but that may be generous.

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron hauled in four receptions for 32 yards on five targets in the Week 14 game against the Chicago Bears.

Lions | Eric Ebron playing in Week 14

Sun, 11 Dec 2016 08:57:33 -0800

Confirming a previous report, Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) will play in Week 14's game against the Chicago Bears.

Lions | Eric Ebron to suit up this Sunday

Sun, 11 Dec 2016 00:00:45 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) is expected to play Sunday, Dec. 11, against the Chicago Bears, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron has been largely invisible the last two weeks after a very encouraging three-game stretch. There's always upside with Ebron, but it's hard to advocate rolling the dice on such an inconsistent contributor, particularly a wounded one, at a crucial time for fantasy owners.

Lions | Eric Ebron listed as questionable

Fri, 09 Dec 2016 16:29:42 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 9, and is listed as questionable for Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron has been limited to four catches and 38 yards over the last two weeks but did post better options in the middle of the season. Owners in deeper leagues could consider Ebron as the low-end No. 1 tight end, but owners in standard leagues probably can find better options to use.

Thu, 08 Dec 2016 14:29:01 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) was a limited participant in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Dec. 8.

Fantasy Tip: After laying an egg on Thanksgiving, Ebron was able to somewhat bounce back with a four-catch effort this past Sunday, albeit for only 38 yards. He'll probably be able to suit up in the next game, though he'd be a low-end TE1 option if Marvin Jones (quadriceps) is able to return after missing Week 13.

Lions | Eric Ebron also limited

Wed, 07 Dec 2016 14:11:27 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Dec. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron was targeted more frequently than usual last week, but that was partly because Marvin Jones was sidelined. If Jones is active then Ebron's value takes a decrease, but he remains a low-end TE1 option.

Lions | Eric Ebron posts 70 yards

Sun, 20 Nov 2016 17:54:37 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron hauled in three receptions for 70 yards in the Week 11 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was targeted five times and he also had one run for one yard and a touchdown.

Fantasy Tip: He has caught 14 balls for 171 yards on 18 targets the last two games. He hasn't reached the end zone since his first game, but his usage puts him in the midrange TE1 tier.

Sun, 30 Oct 2016 13:55:44 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron caught seven passes for 79 yards Sunday, Oct. 30, in a 20-13 loss to the Houston Texans.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron has had up-and-down luck this year, but this was a decent outing in a rough place to play. As long as he's healthy, Ebron remains a decent play at TE.

Lions | Eric Ebron active for Week 8

Sun, 30 Oct 2016 08:04:17 -0700

Updating previous reports, Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle, knee) will be active for Week 8's game against the Houston Texans.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron was a full participant in practice Friday, Oct. 28, after being involved on a limited basis earlier in the week. He was a consistent performer in the four games he played prior to getting hurt and is worth considering as a low-end TE1 in all fantasy formats.

Fri, 28 Oct 2016 15:40:38 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle, knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 28, and is listed as questionable for Week 8.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron should return to the lineup after missing several weeks because of his injuries. He has been fairly consistent in the four games he has played this season and can be a low-end No. 1 tight end in deeper leagues in Week 8.

Lions | Eric Ebron gets in full practice

Thu, 27 Oct 2016 16:27:25 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle, knee) was a full participant at practice Thursday, Oct. 27.

Fantasy Tip: After missing the last three games, it looks like Ebron will be making his return in Week 8. He participated in practice on a limited basis on Wednesday, so today's upgrade certainly solidifies that. However, with the recent emergence of Golden Tate, not to mention the likely return of Theo Riddick, owners might want to take a wait-and-see approach with Ebron as he eases back into his weekly role. That is, unless there's no one else to use at tight end this week.

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle, knee) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron hasn't played since Oct. 2, and he could very well be limited if he is active for Week 8. The Houston Texans have been stingy against tight ends this year, too. Wait a week before starting Ebron again.

Thu, 20 Oct 2016 15:24:26 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle, knee) missed practice again Thursday, Oct. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron has missed the last two weeks and it's looking like he's about to sit out his third consecutive game. Detroit's options behind him are essentially useless in fantasy, so owners seeking a tight end should be looking elsewhere for help.

Lions | Eric Ebron ruled out against Rams

Fri, 14 Oct 2016 14:07:30 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle, knee) will not play Week 6 versus the Los Angeles Rams.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron logged either four or five catches in each of his first four games. Injuries are keeping him from reaching his considerable ceiling, but owners should keep him around if at all possible as he is expected back sooner than later. In the current landscape, Ebron's first four weeks' worth of production puts him in the TE1 discussion.

Fri, 07 Oct 2016 13:25:46 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle, knee) has been ruled out for the team's Week 5 contest Sunday, Oct. 9, against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fantasy Tip: Cole Wick figures to get the start in his place, but it's tough to gauge how reliable he can be in what would amount to his first career start. He's really only a desperate tight end option for the deepest of leagues.

Thu, 06 Oct 2016 16:40:03 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle, knee) did not participate in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 6.

Fantasy Tip: It was already reported that Ebron is "likely" to sit out the team's Week 5 game, and his lack of participation in practice this week should ensure that is indeed the case. Cole Wick would probably get the first opportunity to fill in, but won't be considered a legitimate fantasy option this week in just about all leagues.

Updating a previous report, Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle, knee) returned to the team's Week 4 game after missing time because of ankle and knee injuries. Ebron appeared to be running fine when he returned.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to keep an eye on the situation to see if Ebron is dealing with any serious injuries. Ebron can be a low-end No. 1 tight end when he is healthy. Cole Wick could have a bigger role if Ebron misses time but is not a great fantasy option.
