Lions | Eric Ebron hauls in 10 receptions

Sun, 10 Dec 2017 19:09:33 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron racked up 10 receptions for 94 yards on 11 targets in Week 14 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron has been a disappointment for most of his career but he has really started to come on lately. He has four or more receptions in each of the past four outings, totaling 22 receptions. This was his biggest production, though, by far. He is still more of a TE2 in most fantasy leagues until this becomes the norm.

Lions | Eric Ebron finishes with four catches

Thu, 23 Nov 2017 17:15:54 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron caught four passes for 34 yards against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron has been fairly consistent for the past month in terms of his stats but does have one touchdown during that span. Owners probably should consider Ebron as a No. 2 fantasy tight end.

Lions | Eric Ebron finishes with 49 yards

Sun, 19 Nov 2017 14:36:49 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron managed four receptions for 49 yards on seven targets in Week 11 against the Chicago Bears.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron has emerged as a low-end TE1 in deeper fantasy leagues with two or more grabs in four straight outings while posting at least 35 yards in each of the contests. The Lions host the Vikings on Thanksgiving in Week 12. He had two grabs for 27 yards in Week 4 in the first meeting with Minnesota.

Sun, 12 Nov 2017 13:57:42 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron posted two receptions for 39 yards and a touchdown in the Week 10 game against the Cleveland Browns.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron has been a serviceable low-end TE1 in PPR leagues over the past three games, posting seven catches with 132 yards and a touchdown on 13 targets. He remains a TE2 in standard play.

Lions | Eric Ebron doesn't start

Tue, 07 Nov 2017 08:23:35 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron didn't start Monday, Nov. 6, for the first time this season.

Fantasy Tip: He ended up catching three balls for 35 yards while starter Darren Fells caught just one pass for 10 yards. Neither are producing enough to be worth starting in fantasy, and maybe Ebron figures it out eventually. If you need the space, he can be cut loose.

Lions | Eric Ebron still has support

Fri, 03 Nov 2017 21:15:26 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron's chances of being traded before the deadline were exaggerated, according to head coach Jim Caldwell, and Caldwell said he expects Ebron's production to improve as the season goes on.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron has been a non-factor in the offense for much of the year, and he will need a few weeks of improved production before he can be considered anything more than a low-end TE2.

Lions | Eric Ebron posts 58 yards

Sun, 29 Oct 2017 20:53:52 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron had a pair of receptions for 58 yards in the second half of the Week 8 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron, the subject of trade rumors heading into Tuesday's deadline, might have boosted his stock a little bit, especially with his second grab which covered 44 yards. Regardless of where he finishes this season, he is nothing more than a low-end TE2 in most fantasy leagues until he shows more consistency.

Lions | Eric Ebron likely will be moved

Sun, 29 Oct 2017 07:04:39 -0700

Updating a previous report, Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron is actively being shopped to other teams and likely will be moved before the trade deadline, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron has posted only 13 catches and 102 yards so far this season, so the Lions probably would only receive a late-round pick if they decide to trade him. He has had success in the past but should only be considered a No. 2 fantasy tight end no matter where he plays.

Lions | Eric Ebron could be traded

Sun, 29 Oct 2017 05:24:26 -0700

Multiple teams have reportedly contacted the Detroit Lions to discuss trading for TE Eric Ebron.

Fantasy Tip: The 24-year-old Ebron has just 13 receptions for 102 yards and a touchdown through six games this season and has been overshadowed by teammate Darren Fells, who has three touchdowns in his last two games. Ebron is not worth starting in any fantasy format at this point due to inconsistency.

Lions | Eric Ebron takes backseat again

Sun, 15 Oct 2017 16:55:21 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron managed just one catch for nine yards in Week 6 against the New Orleans Saints on a total of three targets.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron appears to be behind Darren Fells on the depth chart right now. That's rather unofficial, but Matthew Stafford has found Fells for three touchdowns over the past two games while not trusting Ebron. The Lions are off in Week 7.

Lions | Eric Ebron meets with Matthew Stafford

Tue, 10 Oct 2017 15:25:29 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron met with QB Matthew Stafford Monday, Oct. 9, in an effort to correct the slump he's been in this season. Ebron said he is "in the dumps" mentally and needs to get his act together. Through five games this year, Ebron has managed just 12 catches for 93 yards and a touchdown.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron seems to disappoint season after season, but the fact that he is meeting with Stafford and trying to get out of his funk is encouraging. Until he starts performing consistently well, though, Ebron belongs on fantasy benches.

Lions | Eric Ebron limited to one grab

Sun, 08 Oct 2017 15:27:58 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron posted just one catch for six yards on four targets in Week 5 against the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron was overshadowed by Darren Fells, as Matthew Stafford hit that veteran tight end for two fourth-quarter touchdowns, much to the dismay of Ebron's fantasy owners. He came into the league with so much potential, but injuries and inconsistent play have really limited his usefulness.

Lions | Eric Ebron held to two receptions

Sun, 01 Oct 2017 15:03:36 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron managed just two catches for 27 yards on four targets in Week 4 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron has a ton of potential to be a TE1 in all fantasy formats, but for some reason he just falls short. He has 27 or fewer receiving yards in three of his four outings. At this point he is a risky fantasy play heading into Week 5 against the Carolina Panthers until he starts to show more consistency.

Lions | Eric Ebron finds end zone on MNF

Mon, 18 Sep 2017 20:48:55 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron hauled in five balls for 42 yards and a touchdown in Week 2 against the New York Giants on Monday, Sept. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron, whose hometown is nearby Jersey City, N.J., seemed to play with a little more purpose. He has always had the potential to be a star in this league but health has been major hurdle. If he can stay healthy he might be on track for a special season in 2017.

Lions | Eric Ebron nearly invisible

Sun, 10 Sep 2017 16:38:03 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron posted just two receptions for nine yards on three targets in Week 1 against the Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron was hampered by a hamstring injury for a good chunk of the preseason, but he was off the injury report on Friday and was expected to be 100 percent. He wasn't. Ebron has the potential to be a decent low-end TE1 in most fantasy leagues but he is so inconsistent. He'll be back at it in Week 2 on the road against the Giants.

Lions | Eric Ebron not on injury report

Wed, 06 Sep 2017 14:33:09 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) is not listed on the Lions' injury report Wednesday, Sept. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron's injury history is well documented, but he's good to go for now. He has a great opportunity to improve on last season with the departure of Anquan Boldin, particularly in situations near the end zone as he only caught one touchdown in 2017. Ebron can easily attain TE1 numbers if he plays a full season.

Lions | Eric Ebron practicing again

Mon, 28 Aug 2017 12:21:06 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) returned to practice Monday, Aug. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron has a good chance to break out this year if he can stay on the field. With the loss of Anquan Boldin, Ebron's usage near the end zone will ideally increase after scoring just one touchdown last season. Draft him as a low-end TE1.

Lions | Robert Tonyan seeing some first-team reps

Fri, 25 Aug 2017 10:55:51 -0700

Detroit Lions undrafted free-agent TE Robert Tonyan has started to see "occasional first-team looks" in Eric Ebron's "F" (move) tight end role as Ebron continues to miss practice time with a hamstring injury.

Fantasy Tip: Tonyan moved to wide receiver at Indiana State after quarterback didn't work out, and the Lions are giving the 6-5 project some quality reps at yet another new position. He's obviously well off the fantasy radar and may be a candidate for the practice squad if/when Ebron returns, but as long as Ebron is out, Tonyan's name is one to keep in the back of your mind.

Lions | Eric Ebron still sitting out

Mon, 21 Aug 2017 14:36:34 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) did not participate in practice Monday, Aug. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron has been dealing with the injury for several weeks, so owners will need to monitor the situation to see when he will be able to return to the field. Ebron has the potential to be a low-end No. 1 tight end in fantasy leagues, but his injury history may make him drop in drafts.

Lions | Eric Ebron remains sidelined

Thu, 17 Aug 2017 18:40:01 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) did not participate in practice Thursday, Aug. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron has spent most of training camp on the sidelines because of his hamstring injury, so owners will need to continue to monitor the situation. He can be a low-end No. 1 fantasy tight end when healthy, but owners probably should take another strong tight end option if they draft Ebron.

Lions | Eric Ebron misses practice

Wed, 16 Aug 2017 16:32:46 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Aug. 16.

Fantasy Tip: It is not known if Ebron suffered a setback or if the team is being cautious with him, but he probably will not play in the second preseason game. Ebron will have a role in the passing game if he is able to recover before the start of the season and has a chance to be a low-end No. 1 tight end in fantasy leagues.

Lions | Eric Ebron returns

Fri, 11 Aug 2017 06:41:19 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) returned to practice Friday, Aug. 11.

Fantasy Tip: For all the headaches he has caused fantasy owners with his propensity for injury, Ebron still has a lot of upside. He's a low-end TE1, which still presents quite a bit of room for draft day profit.

Lions | Coach has catch total in mind for Eric Ebron

Mon, 07 Aug 2017 17:51:30 -0700

Detroit Lions head coach Jim Caldwell said he envisions TE Eric Ebron to be in the 60-catch range this season.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron caught 61 passes in 13 games last season, so he should be able to post similar numbers this season. He has posted only seven touchdowns in his three years in the NFL but is still a solid fantasy option because of his receptions and receiving yards. He can be considered a low-end No. 1 tight end in fantasy leagues.

Lions | Eric Ebron running on the side

Sun, 06 Aug 2017 18:06:07 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) did not participate in practice Sunday, Aug. 6, but he was able to run on the sidelines.

Fantasy Tip: Detroit has no reason to rush Ebron back. He might not have the upside many expected when he was drafted, but he has developed into a low-end TE1.

Lions | Eric Ebron still out

Sun, 06 Aug 2017 16:12:50 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) did not participate in practice Sunday, Aug. 6.

Fantasy Tip: The Lions are likely being cautious with Ebron and do not want to bring him back too soon. He probably will miss at least the first preseason game, so owners should continue to monitor the situation. Ebron has a chance to have a solid role in the passing game but probably should be a low-end No. 1 or a No. 2 tight end in fantasy leagues at this point.

Lions | Eric Ebron sits again

Mon, 31 Jul 2017 18:30:54 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) did not participate in practice Monday, July 31.

Fantasy Tip: The Lions probably will take things slow with Ebron because of the injury and Ebron's injury history. Owners should monitor his progress over the next few days to see if the injury is not serious. Ebron is expected to have solid role in the passing game as long as he is healthy and could be a low-end No. 1 tight end in most leagues.

Lions | Eric Ebron leaves practice early

Sun, 30 Jul 2017 16:37:22 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) left practice early Sunday, July 30, after he suffered an apparent hamstring injury, according to head coach Jim Caldwell.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to look for an update on Ebron's status in the next day or two to see if it will cost him more than a few days. He has dealt with injuries in the past and has missed at least two games in each of his first three seasons. He is coming off a decent 2016 season and is expected to have a solid role in the passing game this season. He is a risky option because of his injury history but could be a low-end No. 1 tight end in some leagues.

Lions | More touchdowns for Eric Ebron?

Thu, 13 Jul 2017 20:23:08 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron was third on the team in yards and receptions last year, and Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press believes the departure of free-agent WR Anquan Boldin (Lions) could help Ebron improve on his one touchdown from a year ago.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron should continue to have a prominent role in Detroit's passing game, giving him a safe floor and making him worth grabbing as a low-end TE1.

Lions | Eric Ebron excited for 2017

Mon, 10 Jul 2017 13:05:46 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron is "overly excited" for how he's going to be used in the Lions' offense this year, adding that it's going to be fun for him.

Fantasy Tip: Anquan Boldin is gone, so Ebron has a good opportunity to at least score more this season. He's been somewhat disappointing so far in his young career, but if he can stay healthy he has TE1 potential.

Lions | Eric Ebron expecting big things

Thu, 22 Jun 2017 21:09:51 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron said he believes the addition of TE Darren Fells will allow him to play to his strengths. "I think it's going to play a significant role for me to allow me to do the things that I'm best at," Ebron said.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron finished with a career-high 711 receiving yards last year despite missing three games, and if Fells can handle a lot of the blocking duties, it could free up Ebron to do more damage in the passing game. Grab him as a low-end TE1.

Lions | Eric Ebron may receive extension

Wed, 17 May 2017 11:42:24 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron said he has talked with general manager Bob Quinn about a possible contract extension.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron posted a career-high 711 receiving yards in 2016 but recorded only one touchdown in 13 games. He has missed at least two games in each of the last three seasons, so he does have a bit of an injury concern. He probably can be considered a low-end No. 1 tight end in deeper fantasy leagues.

Lions | Eric Ebron progressing nicely

Sat, 13 May 2017 08:30:22 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron has yet to play 16 games in a season for the Lions, but he set career-highs last year in receptions (61) and yards (711) last season. He has also improved as a blocker, while his drop rate went from 10.1 percent in 2015 to 5.8 percent in 2016 even as he was targeted 17 more times and had a higher percentage of targets per route run and receptions per route run, according to ESPN's Michael Rothstein.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron will complain about the fact he scored only one touchdown, but the evidence does support Rothstein's assertion. The tight end position is one of the hardest for young players to learn, and Ebron entered the league more as a glorified slot than in-line tight end. He's climbed into TE1 territory for fantasy purposes and can be expected to take another leap forward this year so long as he stays healthy for the first time in his career.

Lions | Eric Ebron's option exercised

Tue, 02 May 2017 05:30:27 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron had his fifth-year option exercised Tuesday, May 2.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron continues to tease with his athletic ability and continues to go down to injury. He had career highs of 61 catches and 711 yards last season but just one touchdown. This will be a pivotal year for him as a midrange TE1 in fantasy.

Lions | No decision made on Eric Ebron's option

Fri, 21 Apr 2017 09:09:16 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron remains a candidate to have his fifth-year option worth more than $8 million picked up by the May 2 deadline, but general manager Bob Quinn has yet to make that decision.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron has steadily improved over his first three years in Detroit, but he has still been a bit of a disappointment, especially considering Odell Beckham Jr. and Aaron Donald went two and three picks after him, respectively. Miami (Fla.) TE David Njoku has been a popular mock draft selection for the Lions this spring, perhaps in part because second-year position coach Al Golden recruited him to the Hurricanes.

Lions | Eric Ebron looking for 1,000-yard season

Mon, 16 Jan 2017 16:09:08 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron said his goal for next season is to have a 1,000-yard season. He said another goal is to stay healthy for the entire season.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron will be a free agent this offseason but should be able to find a starting job with a team during free agency. He has had problems with injuries during his career but can be considered a No. 2 tight end in fantasy drafts if he stays healthy.

Lions | Eric Ebron likely returning

Thu, 05 Jan 2017 20:33:45 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron's fifth-year option will likely be picked up, according to beat writer Dave Birkett, and head coach Jim Caldwell said Ebron has performed well and has improved every year.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron's numbers continue to trend in the right direction. If he is back in Detroit in 2017, he has a good chance to sneak into TE1 territory.

Lions | Eric Ebron keeps progressing

Sat, 31 Dec 2016 19:05:26 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron is "functioning better" this season, according to head coach Jim Caldwell, and Caldwell said Ebron has the talent and ability to continue to improve.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron has improved his catch and yardage totals in each of his first three seasons. He is a borderline TE1 option in deeper leagues against the Packers in Week 17.

Lions | Eric Ebron busy on Monday night

Mon, 26 Dec 2016 21:50:34 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron posted game highs with eight catches, 93 yards and 12 targets in the Week 16 game against the Dallas Cowboys Monday, Dec. 26.

Fantasy Tip: The yardage total was a season high, which is nice, but he hasn't scored a touchdown since Week 1. He faces the Green Bay Packers in Week 17, a team he posted five grabs for 69 yards on eight targets back in Week 3.

Lions | Eric Ebron likely to play Sunday

Sun, 18 Dec 2016 06:37:59 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) is expected to play in Week 15's game against the New York Giants, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron was limited in practice all week and was listed as questionable on the injury report. Although he will probably see a decent number of targets, he has underachieved recently and hasn't reached the end zone since Week 1. He should be viewed as no better than a low-end TE1 in deep seasonal leagues.

Fri, 16 Dec 2016 16:47:03 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 16, and is listed as questionable for Week 15.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron should be on the field against the New York Giants this week and should see a decent amount of targets during the game. He has posted only 70 yards in the last three games and could be avoided if owners have better options to use.

Lions | Eric Ebron limited Thursday

Thu, 15 Dec 2016 13:40:26 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) was limited limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron and the Lions offense have a difficult matchup on the road against the New York Giants this week. Ebron is a fringe TE1, but temper expectations if there aren't better starting options on your roster.

Lions | Eric Ebron also limited

Wed, 14 Dec 2016 13:41:06 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) was limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 14.

Fantasy Tip: For the most part, it's hard to be comfortable with any tight end nowadays, including Ebron. If he is active, he's at best a fringe TE1, but that may be generous.

Sun, 11 Dec 2016 20:51:15 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron hauled in four receptions for 32 yards on five targets in the Week 14 game against the Chicago Bears.

Sun, 11 Dec 2016 08:57:33 -0800

Confirming a previous report, Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) will play in Week 14's game against the Chicago Bears.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron was a limited participant in practice throughout the week and was listed as questionable on the injury report. He should still be considered a low-end TE1 in deeper fantasy leagues, although he has turned in a pair of disappointing performances over the last two weeks.

Lions | Eric Ebron to suit up this Sunday

Sun, 11 Dec 2016 00:00:45 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) is expected to play Sunday, Dec. 11, against the Chicago Bears, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron has been largely invisible the last two weeks after a very encouraging three-game stretch. There's always upside with Ebron, but it's hard to advocate rolling the dice on such an inconsistent contributor, particularly a wounded one, at a crucial time for fantasy owners.

Lions | Eric Ebron listed as questionable

Fri, 09 Dec 2016 16:29:42 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 9, and is listed as questionable for Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron has been limited to four catches and 38 yards over the last two weeks but did post better options in the middle of the season. Owners in deeper leagues could consider Ebron as the low-end No. 1 tight end, but owners in standard leagues probably can find better options to use.

Lions | Eric Ebron limited in practice again

Thu, 08 Dec 2016 14:29:01 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) was a limited participant in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Dec. 8.

Fantasy Tip: After laying an egg on Thanksgiving, Ebron was able to somewhat bounce back with a four-catch effort this past Sunday, albeit for only 38 yards. He'll probably be able to suit up in the next game, though he'd be a low-end TE1 option if Marvin Jones (quadriceps) is able to return after missing Week 13.

Lions | Eric Ebron also limited

Wed, 07 Dec 2016 14:11:27 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Dec. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron was targeted more frequently than usual last week, but that was partly because Marvin Jones was sidelined. If Jones is active then Ebron's value takes a decrease, but he remains a low-end TE1 option.

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron hauled in three receptions for 70 yards in the Week 11 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was targeted five times and he also had one run for one yard and a touchdown.

Mon, 07 Nov 2016 05:25:11 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron had seven catches for 92 yards in Week 9 Sunday, Nov. 6.

Fantasy Tip: He has caught 14 balls for 171 yards on 18 targets the last two games. He hasn't reached the end zone since his first game, but his usage puts him in the midrange TE1 tier.
