Buccaneers | Austin Seferian-Jenkins dropping passes

Sat, 22 Aug 2015 06:30:26 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins has dropped way too many passes during training camp and could give way to TE Brandon Myers as the starter, according to NFL Nation reporter Pat Yasinkas.

Fantasy Tip: Historically, tight ends have struggled to return significant fantasy production early in their careers, and Seferian-Jenkins missed eight games in his rookie year. Pair his inexperience with more than one negative review of his hands, and the sophomore looks like a risky option to pin your fantasy hopes on. Still, he has high-end athleticism, and Myers isn't a legitimate threat in that regard. All said, Seferian-Jenkins looks more like an occasional streaming option and FantasyScore play than a weekly holder of a starting tight end roster slot.

Buccaneers | Austin Seferian-Jenkins blocking better

Thu, 06 Aug 2015 14:30:11 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins has improved his blocking and makes for a difficult matchup on the outside, according to head coach Love Smith.

Fantasy Tip: It's nice when a tight end can block well and be a threat in the receiving game. Seferian-Jenkins supposedly still needs to work on catching the football, but if everything comes together in his second season, he could be a sneaky addition to fantasy rosters. Draft him as a TE2.

Buccaneers | New OC to help Austin Seferian-Jenkins?

Sat, 11 Jul 2015 19:03:52 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins could benefit from offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter, who has a solid history with tight ends. In 2010, Koetter coached Jacksonville Jaguars TE Marcedes Lewis in a career-best season with 700 yards and 10 touchdowns. Koetter also coached former TE Tony Gonzalez's 2012 and 2013 campaigns with the Atlanta Falcons during which he piled up over 1,700 yards and 16 touchdowns over the two seasons.

Fantasy Tip: Seferian-Jenkins has all the physical tools to put up big numbers, it remains to be seen if he can produce useful numbers on a consistent basis. Still, he has enough upside to grab as a backup tight end later in drafts.

Thu, 09 Jul 2015 16:38:05 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins may be primed for a breakout year in his second season in the NFL, according to Scott Smith of buccaneers.com. Smith cites good health -- something ASJ didn't have last year -- and athleticism as the main components of Seferian-Jenkins' possible breakout season.

Fantasy Tip: You shouldn't be drafting ASJ as your starting fantasy tight end, but you could draft a worse backup fantasy tight end.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins could be used more this year in new offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter's system. ESPN.com's Pat Yasinskas believes Seferian-Jenkins will be a big part of the offense in 2015.

Fantasy Tip: Seferian-Jenkins had a respectable rookie campaign, but only played in nine games because of injuries. It may take some time to get acclimated to the new offense and rookie quarterback Jameis Winston, but the potential is there. Draft him as a TE2.
