Tennessee Titans CEO Tommy Smith, fighting through a 2-10 season, has said he wants more "tough guys" on the roster in order to replicate the success the team had a decade ago. "The game has changed, I know it has,'' Smith said. "But guys like Eddie George never backed down from anybody. Steve McNair, he was the heart and soul of this organization. We need more guys like that, guys who are good people, but when they get in between the stripes, they play hard and they play tough." Smith said guys like OT Taylor Lewan and QB Zach Mettenberger fit his definition.

Tennessee Titans head coach Ken Whisenhunt's and general manager Ruston Webster's jobs are safe, according to chief executive officer Tommy Smith. However, Smith said the team's offensive line might need to be shaken up. "We spent a fortune to build this line," Smith said. "I am committed, I've told the coach, I don't care when someone was drafted or what they're paid, if they're not getting the job done, to get somebody else."

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker has the support of team president Tommy Smith. Smith thinks head coach Ken Whisenhunt will be good for Locker moving forward. "Absolutely. I do like Jake … and I think Ken is going to be very good for Jake. Jake is a competitor. He is a smart guy. I think he has the ability. He is the quarterback. That's what I have told him every time I see him. And that's the way it is."

Tennessee Titans president Tommy Smith said the team will be active in free agency in 2014, with general manager Ruston Webster and head coach Ken Whisenhunt trying to find team needs. "I've said before, we're going to be active (in free agency)," Smith said. "We were active last year and where Ruston and Ken see the need and find the talent, we're going to go after it. So within our confines within the salary cap and so forth, we're going to be active."

Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak will meet with team president and CEO Tommy Smith Friday, Jan. 3, for organizational evaluation, according to sources, and Munchak could learn whether he will be fired. General manager Ruston Webster will also be at the meeting.
