Jets | Jace Amaro on hot seat?

Sun, 23 Aug 2015 15:21:10 -0700

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro may be on the hot seat, as he is listed as the third tight end on the official depth chart behind Jeff Cumberland and Kellen Davis.

Fantasy Tip: The fact Amaro is a holdover from the days of general manager John Idzik doesn't bode well for his chances. Keep an eye on where Amaro lands on the depth chart, but right now he doesn't carry much fantasy value even as a TE2.

Jets | Jace Amaro considered week to week

Sat, 15 Aug 2015 13:35:46 -0700

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro (shoulder) is considered week to week with a shoulder sprain. Amaro had an MRI Saturday, Aug. 15, and head coach Todd Bowles thinks Amaro will be limited in the preseason.

Fantasy Tip: Amaro should still be able to open the regular season, but his fantasy value isn't the highest even at full health. Amaro isn't an appealing option in 12-team leagues, but he will have weeks worthy of FantasyScore consideration.

Jets | Jace Amaro not practicing

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro (shoulder) was not at practice Saturday, Aug. 15. Amaro injured his shoulder in the Jets' first preseason game. It is unclear how long he will be out.

Fantasy Tip: Assuming the injury isn't serious, Amaro should still be available for the start of the regular season. He's not the most appealing fantasy tight end this year anyway. Consider him a low-end TE2.

Updating an earlier report, New York Jets TE Jace Amaro was placed as the third tight end on the team's depth chart, but offensive coordinator Chan Gailey said not to read much into it. Amaro will serve as the H-back, and there isn't a separate place on the depth chart for his position.

Fantasy Tip: Amaro is a midrange TE2, but that could elevate with a strong preseason.

Jets | Will use two tight ends

Thu, 21 May 2015 11:58:40 -0700

New York Jets coach Todd Bowles plans to use a package with two tight ends, including TE Jeff Cumberland and TE Jace Amaro. Cumberland will be a traditional tight end and Amaro will line up in a halfback-style position.

Fantasy Tip: In this set, Amaro could be more explosive because he could run all over the field and cause havoc on defenses. Both players will be decent options, but Amaro could post good numbers.

Fantasy Tip: Amaro has been out for several weeks, but it looks like he'll be back in action against the Titans. However, not much confidence can be inspired in him with Geno Smith at the helm, so look to avoid Amaro at FantasyScore for $3,200.

Jets | Jace Amaro returns to full practice

Thu, 11 Dec 2014 13:44:40 -0800

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro (concussion) practiced in full Thursday, Dec. 11, after being limited Wednesday, Dec. 10.

Fantasy Tip: It's another encouraging sign that Amaro can return this week to play the Tennessee Titans. He'll likely just need to be cleared by an independent doctor tomorrow. The Titans defense has been generous all season, but you should still be hesitant in using Amaro for $3,200 at FantasyScore if he returns.

Jets | Jace Amaro limited

Wed, 10 Dec 2014 13:08:38 -0800

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro (concussion) was limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 10.

Fantasy Tip: This is encouraging news for Amaro, who has missed the last two games with a concussion. Amaro's opponent, the Tennesse Titans, has been mediocre against tight ends this year, so Amaro would be worth a look on FantasyScore at $3,200.

Tue, 09 Dec 2014 09:31:14 -0800

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro (concussion), who has missed the last two games with a concussion, could be cleared to play in Week 15 against the Tennessee Titans.

Fantasy Tip: Amaro isn't guaranteed to return this weekend, so he shouldn't be anywhere near your radar at FantasyScore. Jeff Cumberland had zero catches in Week 14 in Amaro's absence, and he can be ignored, as well.

Fantasy Tip: Amaro is still working his way back from a concussion, so his status for Week 14 is uncertain. Amaro costs $3,200 on FantasyScore but should be avoided because of his uncertain status. Jets | Jace Amaro doubled playing time in Week 6

Thu, 16 Oct 2014 11:29:54 -0700

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro played 36 snaps in the team's Week 6 loss to the Denver Broncos after being stuck between 20 and 25 snaps in every game this year before that. He also doubled his season high in catches and scored a touchdown against the Broncos. Amaro could be emerging into QB Geno Smith's No. 2 target behind WR Eric Decker in the passing game.

Fantasy Tip: Amaro's big Week 6 performance put him on the map as a popular waiver wire target this week. It might be time to capitalize on his cheap FantasyScore price ($3,000; 6.0% of cap) against the New England Patriots Thursday night.

Jets | Jace Amaro will be more involved

Thu, 11 Sep 2014 16:10:20 -0700

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro will become a major factor in the offense eventually, according to head coach Rex Ryan. "I like to stay away from the production thing because a lot of things go into that," Ryan said. "But he's going to be a major factor for our football team, and probably very soon." Amaro had two catches on four targets for seven yards in Week 1 in his NFL debut. He's making the transition from being flanked out wide in college to having to block on running plays.

Fantasy Tip: Amaro is worth watching. He could be more involved in the passing game against the Green Bay Packers in Week 2, but even at $3,700 (7.4% of cap) at FantasyScore, he's not worth gambling on just yet.

Jets | Jace Amaro struggling

Wed, 25 Jun 2014 09:16:05 -0700

New York Jets rookie TE Jace Amaro is struggling in his initial workouts. The no-huddle, spread system at Texas Tech is significantly different from the Jets' deeper pro-style playbook. He looked lost in three-wide packages and needs to polish his routes, in-line position, footwork and releases.

Fantasy Tip: Amaro may be overvalued in fantasy drafts based on his college history and raw talent. But if he loses any time to Jeff Cumberland, Zach Sudfeld or Chris Pantale, that's burying him further into waiver-wire territory. For keeper leagues, of course, he's an intriguing hold if you can sit on a TE backup.

Fantasy Tip: Rex Ryan has been impressed with Amaro during offseason workouts. The rook has a real chance to start as the main tight end, and he's a real pass-catching threat as a safety valve for Geno Smith. Amaro should be drafted as a cheap TE2 option.

Sun, 15 Jun 2014 18:04:04 -0700

The New York Jets have been lining TE Jace Amaro up at different spots during organized team activities, because they believe he can be an offense weapon. "He's lined up everywhere," tight ends coach Steve Hagen said. "He's lined up flexed out, hand down, out by himself (on the) single-receiver side, on the three-receiver side, on the two-receiver side. We use him everywhere we can use him. So we have asked him to do a lot, and we expect him to do a lot. He's asking that of himself, and he's delivering, too. It's been fun to watch him."
