TE Jerome Cunningham has impressed, too, which make the competition at the position even harder.

Sun, 04 Sep 2016 10:07:09 -0700

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro was claimed off waivers by the Tennessee Titans Sunday, Sept. 4, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Amaro probably will not receive a lot of playing time this season and will not be a strong fantasy option unless Delanie Walker suffers an injury.

Jets | Jace Amaro released

Sat, 03 Sep 2016 11:11:08 -0700

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro was released Saturday, Sept. 3, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Amaro was not able to win the starting job with the Jets but should be able to find a new team soon. He will not be a great option for fantasy owners. Kellen Davis probably will be the starting tight end for the Jets but can be avoided in most leagues.

Jets | Jace Amaro may not make team

Thu, 01 Sep 2016 13:56:54 -0700

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro (groin) is on the final roster bubble, according to Brian Costello of the New York Post. Costello believes TE Kellen Davis is the only player at the position who has secured a roster spot. TEs Zach Sudfeld and Brandon Bostick are also in contention.

Fantasy Tip: The Jets' tight end situation is a crapshoot, to put it nicely. Last season was all about Brandon Marshall, Eric Decker and the running backs, and it shouldn't be much different this season. New York's tight ends can be avoided.

Mon, 22 Aug 2016 16:56:23 -0700

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro (groin) and Kenbrell Thompkins (groin) did not practice Monday, Aug. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Amaro and Thompkins are both faint blips on the fantasy radar at this point. Neither should see heavy involvement in the Jets' offense. Amaro is a backup tight end option, but Thompkins can be avoided.

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro's highlights during practice Friday, Aug. 5, included a deep catch down the seam in double coverage and a touchdown in the red zone.

Fantasy Tip: Amaro has enjoyed a strong camp, and he could finally be putting it all together. Take a chance on him if you are looking for a TE2 late in a draft.

Jets | Jace Amaro turning heads

Mon, 01 Aug 2016 18:51:33 -0700

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro (shoulder) missed the entire 2015 season after shoulder surgery, but he has stood out during the early days of training camp making a lot of catches while serving as a noticeable target in red-zone drills. Last season WR Quincy Enunwa emerged as a hybrid receiver/tight end, and that might be whom Amaro is fighting for reps this year.

Fantasy Tip: Amaro was a standout at Texas Tech and entered the NFL with much fanfare. However, he didn't do much in 2014 and was sidelined completely in 2015, so fantasy owners might be able to scoop him up on the cheap in drafts this season. He still has plenty of upside and could be that late-round gem to push you over the top.

Jets | Important year for Jace Amaro

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 11:34:15 -0700

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro is the projected starter for the Jets after he missed all of last year with a shoulder injury. He has worked hard on his blocking and believes he's improved in that area. However, he must earn the trust of offensive coordinator Chan Gailey and head coach Todd Bowles. The Jets tight ends combined for just eight catches on 23 targets in 2015.

Fantasy Tip: Kellen Davis became the starter last year for lack of better options, and he had just three catches for 18 yards and a score. Amaro is the better pass-catcher and should be utilized more often, but with the QB spot still unsettled, there's not much to like here. Leave Amaro undrafted.

Jets | Jace Amaro a better blocker

Sat, 02 Jul 2016 11:19:22 -0700

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro has put much effort into making himself a better blocker this offseason, according to tight ends coach Jimmie Johnson. "You can see that he's put a lot of effort into trying to improve that part of his game," Johnson said.

Fantasy Tip: Amaro is too inconsistent to be viewed as a viable starting fantasy tight end. He's still easily in backup territory in 2016.

Jets | Coach says Jace Amaro competing for job

Mon, 30 May 2016 09:34:06 -0700

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro will have to compete for a roster spot during training camp, according to head coach Todd Bowles. Bowles said he has not seen Amaro play since he missed the entire 2015 season.

Fantasy Tip: Amaro believes he will have a solid role in the passing game this season but it appears that he will have to earn his targets. He is the leading candidate to start in 2016 but likely will only be a No. 2 tight end in most fantasy leagues.

Jets | Jace Amaro expects more work

Fri, 27 May 2016 16:02:26 -0700

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro said he expects to be more involved in the passing game in 2016. Amaro said he believes he can be a traditional tight end, while head coach Todd Bowles said the Jets see him as an H-back.

Fantasy Tip: Amaro missed the entire 2015 season because of a shoulder injury but has a solid chance to start this upcoming season. He recorded 345 yards and two touchdowns in 2014 but probably would not be more than a No. 2 tight end in deeper leagues.

Jets | Jace Amaro will be healthy

Sun, 21 Feb 2016 11:29:08 -0800

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro (shoulder) is doing well in his rehabilitation from shoulder surgery and should be fully healthy for the 2016 season.

Fantasy Tip: Usage and playing time will be bigger questions than health for Amaro next season. He has underwhelmed and has been underutilized so far in his young career, so don't view him as more than a No. 2 fantasy tight end.

Jets | Jace Amaro has doubters

Fri, 19 Feb 2016 10:27:59 -0800

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro (shoulder) has teammates that are skeptical he will be effective in the league. Amaro's rehab has gone well from surgery to repair a torn labrum, but he'll have to impress offensive coordinator Chan Gailey after he was buried on the depth chart last season.

Fantasy Tip: Amaro is still a project and probably isn't worth drafting unless he lights it up in camp.

Jets | Jace Amaro done for season

Tue, 01 Sep 2015 10:28:04 -0700

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro (shoulder) will have season-ending shoulder surgery and will be placed on the Reserve/Injured list.

Fantasy Tip: This takes away a valuable pass-catching tight end for the suspect New York offense with Geno Smith starting the season on IR. Jeff Cumberland and Kellen Davis will split the tight end duties for the Jets, but neither is worth drafting in most fantasy football drafts.

Jets | Jace Amaro sitting out

Mon, 24 Aug 2015 11:23:17 -0700

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro (shoulder) is present at practice Monday, Aug. 24, but is not participating in any drills.

Fantasy Tip: Amaro has been sidelined for several days because of a shoulder injury, so owners should monitor his progress. Amaro has struggled with injuries in his career and should not be more than a No. 2 tight end at this point.

Jets | Jace Amaro on hot seat?

Sun, 23 Aug 2015 15:21:10 -0700

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro may be on the hot seat, as he is listed as the third tight end on the official depth chart behind Jeff Cumberland and Kellen Davis.

Fantasy Tip: The fact Amaro is a holdover from the days of general manager John Idzik doesn't bode well for his chances. Keep an eye on where Amaro lands on the depth chart, but right now he doesn't carry much fantasy value even as a TE2.

Jets | Jace Amaro not practicing

Sun, 16 Aug 2015 11:29:13 -0700

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro (shoulder) is not participating in practice Sunday, Aug. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Amaro is consider week-to-week at this point, so owners should monitor his situation. Amaro could be a No. 2 tight end in deeper leagues if he is healthy for the start of the season.

Jets | Jace Amaro considered week to week

Sat, 15 Aug 2015 13:35:46 -0700

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro (shoulder) is considered week to week with a shoulder sprain. Amaro had an MRI Saturday, Aug. 15, and head coach Todd Bowles thinks Amaro will be limited in the preseason.

Fantasy Tip: Amaro should still be able to open the regular season, but his fantasy value isn't the highest even at full health. Amaro isn't an appealing option in 12-team leagues, but he will have weeks worthy of FantasyScore consideration.

Jets | Jace Amaro not practicing

Sat, 15 Aug 2015 11:14:50 -0700

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro (shoulder) was not at practice Saturday, Aug. 15. Amaro injured his shoulder in the Jets' first preseason game. It is unclear how long he will be out.

Fantasy Tip: Assuming the injury isn't serious, Amaro should still be available for the start of the regular season. He's not the most appealing fantasy tight end this year anyway. Consider him a low-end TE2.

Jets | Jace Amaro injures shoulder

Thu, 13 Aug 2015 22:03:01 -0700

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro (shoulder) suffered a shoulder injury against the Detroit Lions in a preseason game Thursday, Aug.13.

Fantasy Tip: The severity of the injury is not yet known, but if Amaro is forced to miss any time, it is going to hurt his chances of opening the season with a big role in the offense. Consider him a mid-range TE2 at best for now.

Jets | More on Jace Amaro's depth chart spot

Tue, 11 Aug 2015 09:26:33 -0700

Updating an earlier report, New York Jets TE Jace Amaro was placed as the third tight end on the team's depth chart, but offensive coordinator Chan Gailey said not to read much into it. Amaro will serve as the H-back, and there isn't a separate place on the depth chart for his position.

Fantasy Tip: Amaro is a midrange TE2, but that could elevate with a strong preseason.

Tue, 11 Aug 2015 06:18:06 -0700

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro is listed as the third tight end on the team's first depth chart.

Jets | Jace Amaro quiet in drills

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 19:25:39 -0700

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro had no reception in team drills Thursday, July 30.

Fantasy Tip: The Jets plan to have Amaro more involved in the offense this year, but even with an increased role, he is a mid-level TE2 at best in 2015.

Jets | Jace Amaro to be H-back

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 06:26:17 -0700

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro will be used as an H-back, which might give him a bigger role in the offense than he had last season. Amaro struggled with drops last year.

Fantasy Tip: Amaro is a midrange TE2 if you're looking to take a flyer on a young guy that falls under the radar.

Jets | Jace Amaro not used in red zone in 2014

Wed, 22 Jul 2015 10:44:32 -0700

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro was targeted only nine times in the red zone last season. Amaro could be used more often in the red zone under offensive coordinator Chan Gailey.

Fantasy Tip: Amaro had a pretty quiet 2014 season with 345 yards and two touchdowns but could be more involved this season. Amaro could be a No. 2 tight end for owners in deeper leagues next season.

Jets | Jace Amaro still not practicing

Wed, 10 Jun 2015 11:08:54 -0700

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro (back) is not participating in practice Wednesday, June 10.

Fantasy Tip: Amaro has been sidelined for a good part of the offseason because of a back injury. He will have several more weeks to recover before the start of training camp, so owners should see if he will be able to participate when camp begins. Amaro could be a No. 2 tight end in some leagues if he is healthy.
