Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) is good to go against the Washington Redskins Friday, Aug. 26. He won't play much, but head coach Rex Ryan believes he's ready.

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) is good to go but head coach Rex Ryan isn't sure if he will play Saturday, Aug. 13, against the Indianapolis Colts.

Fantasy Tip: It would behoove the Bills to take it easy with their star receiver during the preseason so as to not aggravate his nagging injury. Being the Bills' only legitimate receiving threat puts Watkins comfortably in WR2 territory.

Bills | Sammy Watkins near return to field

Tue, 02 Aug 2016 19:04:44 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) is nearing a return to the practice field after recovering from foot surgery. The team is targeting Monday, Aug. 8, for his first practice.

Fantasy Tip: As the team's No. 1 wideout, Watkins is a solid WR2 in most fantasy leagues in the neighborhood of San Diego's Keenan Allen, Indianapolis' T.Y. Hilton and Denver's Demaryius Thomas. Health has been a concern for Watkins in the early part of his career, but when he is on the field he is a tremendous asset to the Buffalo offense and fantasy owners. Just make sure to have plenty of depth at the position.

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) has passed the mandatory conditioning tests but remains on the Physically Unable to Perform list as a precautionary measure. However, he has been running for several weeks.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins underwent offseason foot surgery and it appears as though the Bills are trying to err on the side of caution when it comes to his rehab. He should be viewed as a WR2 in the majority of seasonal fantasy leagues.

Bills | Sammy Watkins to stay in stride with QB

Thu, 28 Jul 2016 08:27:13 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) said he and QB Tyrod Taylor have something planned to make up for the lost time in training camp. "We're not going to go the whole time without doing anything," Watkins said. "We're going to get on the right page and make sure we stay there. It's really good that he's progressing, now I've got to progress with him."

Fantasy Tip: Watkins has had his share of injuries in his first two years, but you can't deny his talent and potential. He's a WR2 in fantasy with the tools for more.

Bills | Sammy Watkins running full speed

Mon, 25 Jul 2016 06:45:11 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) said he is sprinting at 100%, and he's doing cuts, but certain things aren't at full speed. Watkins said that he's not mentally comfortable making speed cuts to the left off of his surgically repaired foot, but he expects that to be the final hurdle in his rehab. Watkins isn't sure exactly what he'll be allowed to do after he reports to camp, but he's anticipating a limited workload.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins has had injury concerns, but this third year has been the time we generally see a jump in terms of receivers. He holds risk, but there is sizeable upside for the WR2 in fantasy.

Bills | Sammy Watkins 'where I need to be'

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 09:23:59 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) doesn't know how much he'll do during training camp but said he's "right where I need to be" after suffering a left foot injury in the offseason. The Bills report to training camp Friday, July 29.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins should be good to go for Week 1 unless he suffers a setback in training camp, but he's likely to be limited and probably won't play much, if at all, in the preseason. He's the Bills' No. 1 wideout who is capable of putting up big games often. Consider him a bit of an injury risk in fall drafts as a WR2.

Bills | Sammy Watkins probable for camp

Mon, 18 Jul 2016 13:54:55 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) is probable to participate in training camp, according to ESPN.com's Mike Rodak.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins still isn't expected to play much in the preseason even if he participates in camp. The Bills will probably take it easy with their top wide receiver. That being said, and assuming he's good to go for the regular season, he's comfortably in WR2 territory entering 2016.

Bills | Sammy Watkins resumes running

Fri, 08 Jul 2016 10:41:57 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) posted a video on his Instagram that showed him running, and he said "back on top soon."

Fantasy Tip: The Bills believe Watkins will be ready for Week 1, but he's likely to be limited in training camp and the preseason, making him risky as a WR1. Consider him more of a low-end WR1 or high-end WR2 on draft day as Buffalo's No. 1 wideout. Watkins topped 1,000 yards receiving in five fewer catches and three fewer games in his sophomore campaign.

Bills | Sammy Watkins not sure about camp

Sun, 26 Jun 2016 10:46:27 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) was noncommittal about his status for training camp. Watkins said if he's not ready for training camp then he'll get ready for the first game of the regular season.

Fantasy Tip: As long as Watkins doesn't suffer any setbacks, he's worth a high-end WR2 selection in fantasy drafts as the Bills' only viable receiving threat.

Bills | Sammy Watkins rehabbing with team

Mon, 20 Jun 2016 08:32:57 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) will remain in Buffalo, N.Y., most of the summer to remain close to the medical staff to ensure he stays on track to return for training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins is a legit receiver, but his cluster of leg injuries is starting to become concerning. If he's back for training camp and nothing else pops up, he's a solid WR2 in fantasy.

Bills | Sammy Watkins hopes to remove boot soon

Wed, 01 Jun 2016 10:44:09 -0700

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) said he hopes to remove his walking boot Thursday, June 2. Watkins is not sure how he suffered the stress fracture in his foot.

Fantasy Tip: There is no official timetable for Watkins, but he hopes to be ready for Week 1. He likely will not return to practice until sometime during training camp, which makes him a risky option in drafts. He should be considered a low-end No. 1 or high-end No. 2 receiver when he is healthy.

Bills | No timetable for Sammy Watkins

Wed, 01 Jun 2016 09:47:42 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) said he hopes to be ready for the start of the regular season but there is no official timetable for his return. He hopes to remove his walking boot in the near future.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to continue to monitor the situation during training camp to see if Watkins is making progress in his recovery. Watkins is a risky option for owners at this point because of the injury but is a low-end No. 1 or high-end No. 2 fantasy receiver when he is healthy.

Bills | Sammy Watkins on crutches

Tue, 24 May 2016 09:51:17 -0700

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) was seen on crutches with his left foot in a boot during organized team activities Tuesday, May 24. General manager Doug Whaley said Watkins is expected to be ready for Week 1 of the regular season.

Fantasy Tip: There's no guarantee yet that Watkins will be good to go for Week 1, so we'll be keeping close tabs on his recovery up through training camp. As Buffalo's No. 1 receiver, Watkins' fantasy value takes a slight hit with the uncertainty, and he could come at a nice value in drafts. Marquise Goodwin and Robert Woods could be relied on more to open the season if Watkins is limited at all. Charles Clay could also benefit in the passing game.

Tue, 24 May 2016 06:52:34 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) is expected to be ready for Week 1, but the team doesn't have a target date for his return set, according to general manager Doug Whaley.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins took another step forward with a 60-1,047-9 season last year, but he continues to have nagging injuries. He's a high-risk, high-reward receiver in the WR2 mix.

Bills | Tyrod Taylor wants healthy Sammy Watkins

Sat, 21 May 2016 20:29:47 -0700

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor said he is not worried about the injury to WR Sammy Watkins (foot) hurting their chemistry with each other. "We've been talking together and getting on the same page," Taylor said. "We want on the field work obviously, but we'll get that when the time comes. The main thing is that he gets healthy so he can play at the level that we know he's capable of playing at."

Fantasy Tip: As long as Watkins' recovery goes as planned, he should be a strong WR2 in 2016. Taylor should be a solid QB2, and he could be a sneaky starter in daily formats against the right matchups.

Bills | Sammy Watkins should miss preseason

Mon, 16 May 2016 14:20:45 -0700

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) is not expected to play in the preseason after undergoing foot surgery three weeks ago.

Fantasy Tip: This has turned into somewhat of a serious development for the Bills. Watkins is their main receiving threat. If his recovery time trickles into the regular season, then Robert Woods and Marquise Goodwin would be the main beneficiaries, with Charles Clay still serving as Tyrod Taylor's safety blanket. Keep tabs on Watkins' recovery as the offseason continues, but take this injury and his previous injury history into consideration during fantasy drafts.

Bills | Sammy Watkins has broken bone

Mon, 16 May 2016 13:35:03 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) suffered a broken small bone in his foot and had a screw inserted, according to a source. He should still be ready for training camp, however.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins was really the Bills' only legitimate receiving threat last year, maybe aside from TE Charles Clay. He's one of the better deep threats in the league and worth selecting as a WR2 if there aren't any setbacks and if he's fully healthy when the season starts.

Bills | Sammy Watkins arrives at workouts

Wed, 20 Apr 2016 07:24:38 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins arrived at offseason workouts Wednesday, April 20, after attending a youth camp the team was aware he was attending.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins took a small step forward with a 60-1,047-9 season despite missing three games. He could be pegged for a big third season in 2016 if he can stave off the leg injuries that have dogged him. He's a good WR2 option in fantasy.

Bills | Sammy Watkins not present Monday

Mon, 18 Apr 2016 16:17:04 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins was not present for offseason workouts Monday, April 18.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should not be worried about Watkins not being present since they are only voluntary workouts. He finished 2015 with 1,047 yards and nine touchdowns and should be a middle-round option in most fantasy drafts.

Bills | Sammy Watkins efficient in 2015

Wed, 20 Jan 2016 09:59:09 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins caught passes on 17.3% of the routes that he ran this season, which was the highest reception-to-routes-run rate for a Bills receiver since ESPN started tracking the statistic in 2007. Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (22.6%) led receivers this season in the category. Watkins ranked 13th among qualifying receivers.

Fantasy Tip: At one point in the season, Watkins had to complain in order to have more passes come his way. He finished the year with 60 catches (95 targets) for 1,047 yards and nine touchdowns. The emergence of Tyrod Taylor at quarterback helped Watkin's cause, and he should be a solid WR2 heading into next season.

Jets | Darrelle Revis struggles in finale

Tue, 05 Jan 2016 16:36:28 -0800

New York Jets CB Darrelle Revis played press coverage against Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins just three or four times in a Week 17 loss after playing mostly press coverage against Watkins and limiting him to just three catches for 14 yards in an earlier meeting this year. Watkins was targeted 15 times in Week 17 and was covered by Revis eight of those times, according to Pro Football Focus. Watkins had five catches for 80 yards against Revis. Revis essentially was turned into a zone cornerback in the matchup with Watkins because of the Jets fear that Watkins would beat them deep.

Bills | Sammy Watkins finishes season strong

Sun, 03 Jan 2016 15:00:15 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins caught 11 passes for 136 yards against the New York Jets in Week 17.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins posted at least 100 yards in four of his final six games and finished the season with 911 yards and nine touchdowns. Watkins will continue to be the team's top option in their passing game and could be a middle-round option in most leagues.

Bills | Sammy Watkins stepping up

Wed, 23 Dec 2015 10:09:11 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins is fourth in the league in receiving yards and third in touchdowns over the last five weeks, and he's been one of the best deep threats in the NFL. He reached a speed of 22.13 mph on his 48-yard touchdown catch in Week 15, which was the second fastest speed on a touchdown reception this year.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins ($6,900, 13.8% of cap) is really starting to take off as the season winds to a close, and he could see even more opportunities with Robert Wood (groin) out for the final two games. However, temper your expectations against a Dallas Cowboys team that has defended wideouts surprisingly well in 2015.

Sun, 20 Dec 2015 17:57:54 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins hauled in five receptions for 111 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 15 game against the Washington Redskins. He was targeted 10 times.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins is finally healthy and producing giant numbers. He had just one 100-yard game in his first eight outings. HE has three 100-yard games in his past four, and a total of six touchdowns to re-emerge as a must-start WR1 in all fantasy formats.

Bills | Sammy Watkins finds end zone

Sun, 13 Dec 2015 14:25:15 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins caught five passes for 81 yards and one touchdown against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins has caught four touchdowns in his last three games and at least 100 yards in two of those games. Watkins has become one of Tyrod Taylor's favorite targets and should be a solid starting option against the Washington Redskins in Week 15.

Sun, 06 Dec 2015 14:46:25 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins caught three passes for 109 yards and one touchdown against the Houston Texans in Week 13.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins posted his second straight 100-yard game and has caught three touchdowns in the last two games. He should be a starting option most weeks and will have a favorable matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Bills | Sammy Watkins has terrific outing

Sun, 29 Nov 2015 14:47:22 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins caught six passes for 158 yards and two touchdowns in the team's Week 12 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins had been pretty quiet over the last several weeks but had a breakout game against the Chiefs. He is clearly the No. 1 target in the team's passing game and should be a starting option against most opponents.

Bills | Sammy Watkins goes off in first half

Sun, 29 Nov 2015 11:45:53 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins tallied six catches for 158 yards and two touchdowns in the first half against the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday, Nov. 29.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins has come into his own of late and has quickly turned into Tyrod Taylor's favorite target. As long as Watkins is healthy, which isn't a guarantee, he should be started every week in seasonal leagues.

Comment (0) | Share: Tweet!Share on Facebook | Source: NFL

Bills | Sammy Watkins needs more targets

Wed, 25 Nov 2015 09:17:46 -0800

Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan acknowledged that WR Sammy Watkins needs more balls thrown his way after the star receiver wasn't targeted once by QB Tyrod Taylor in the Week 11 loss to the New England Patriots Monday, Nov. 23. "He's too good of a playmaker not to get more looks. So we're definitely going to be looking at that. We have a great talent there. We got to try to utilize him possibly a little more than we have, obviously," Ryan said. Watkins finished the game against the Patriots with just three catches for 39 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) really has had only one big game to hang his hat on this year, and Taylor hasn't really connected with him much on a consistent basis. The Kansas City Chiefs defense has stiffened up in recent weeks, but they still allow the second-most PPR fantasy points (43.7) to receivers per week this year. Watkins will surely see more looks and could surprise daily owners.

Bills | Sammy Watkins neutralized in loss

Mon, 23 Nov 2015 22:43:42 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (shoulder) posted three receptions for 39 yards in the Week 11 game against the New England Patriots Monday, Nov. 23. He was targeted six times.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins appeared to suffer a shoulder injury on a one-handed catch in the second half. He was able to return to the game, but has neutralized by Bill Belichick's defense for the most part. In Week 12 he will look to rebound, if healthy, against a Kansas City Chiefs pass defense which has been susceptible to the big play.

Bills | Sammy Watkins injured on MNF

Mon, 23 Nov 2015 20:48:39 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (shoulder) made a beautiful one-handed catch in the fourth quarter of the Week 11 game against the New England Patriots Monday, Nov. 23, but then he needed to check out of the game due to an apparent shoulder injury.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins was forced out for a few plays before checking back into the game, so that's the good news. The bad news is that he might have another nick to deal with.

Bills | Sammy Watkins primed for big game?

Sat, 21 Nov 2015 18:20:55 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins faces the New England Patriots in Week 11, and the Patriots have allowed the sixth-most yards to wide receivers this year.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) finished with six catches for 60 yards and a touchdown against New England in Week 2, and he should see more than enough looks Monday night to warrant a starting spot at FantasyScore with the Bills likely being forced to throw more than usual to try to keep pace with the Patriots' offense.

Bills | Quiet night for Sammy Watkins

Thu, 12 Nov 2015 21:35:57 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins had three catches for 14 yards in a 22-17 win over the New York Jets in Week 10.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins ($6,900, 13.8% of cap) tied for the team lead with seven targets, but his numbers left a lot to be desired. The matchup against Darrelle Revis wasn't ideal, but Watkins is likely to remain a boom-or-bust at FantasyScore throughout the year regardless of the opponent.

Bills | Sammy Watkins listed as probable

Wed, 11 Nov 2015 10:39:54 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (ankle) was limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 11, but he's probable for Thursday, Nov. 12, against the New York Jets.

Fantasy Tip: The Jets are surprisingly one of the worst against opposing WRs the last five weeks. The question is: do you want to risk Watkins ($6,900, 13.8% of cap) matching up with Darrelle Revis? Watkins is a risky WR2 on FantasyScore.

Bills | Sammy Watkins anticipating Revis

Tue, 10 Nov 2015 13:49:20 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins is looking forward to being shadowed by New York Jets CB Darrelle Revis in Week 10.

Fantasy Tip: It's to be expected that Revis would shadow Watkins -- Buffalo's best wide receiver by far. Watkins ($6,900, 13.8% of cap) had a career day last week, but he should come back down to earth facing Revis Thursday night. Invest at your own risk on FantasyScore.

Bills | Sammy Watkins, LeSean McCoy limited

Tue, 10 Nov 2015 10:15:17 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (ankle) and RB LeSean McCoy (shoulder) were limited in practice Tuesday, Nov. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins ($6,900, 13.8% of cap) had a breakout game in Week 9, but he'll most likely be facing Darrelle Revis on Thursday night at less than 100%. That's plenty of reason to fade him on FantasyScore. McCoy ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) isn't a great option, either, coming off injury on a short week against a tough team to run against.

Bills | Sammy Watkins limited

Mon, 09 Nov 2015 15:53:44 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (ankle) was limited during practice Monday, Nov. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins is coming off a 168-yard performance and has caught a touchdown in three of the last four games. Watkins will be facing a solid New York Jets defense in Week 10 but could still be a decent option for owners.

Bills | Film study helps Sammy Watkins

Mon, 09 Nov 2015 13:25:40 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins said he gave himself an advantage against the Miami Dolphins in Week 9 by studying film of Dolphins' CB Brent Grimes. "I watched [Grimes] in every game from two to three years ago and watched how he plays press [coverage] and doesn't switch it up," Watkins said. "I set it up to keep taking him inside, keep selling it. I beat him inside on the first throw, so I knew when in doubt that he's going to jump inside if I do it," Watkins continued. "So I double-moved him inside, sold him with body. He jumped, and I just put my hand up, and Tyrod delivered the ball."

Fantasy Tip: Watkins was referring to his long touchdown yesterday, but he torched the Dolphins throughout their Week 9 bout. Watkins was seen limping today, so keep an eye on him leading up to Thursday night's contest with the New York Jets.

Bills | Sammy Watkins limping

Mon, 09 Nov 2015 13:07:36 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (ankle) was walking with a noticeable limp during the Bills' walkthrough Monday, Nov. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins is coming off a career day with 168 yards and a touchdown in Week 9, and it doesn't sound like the injury is serious enough for him to miss Week 10. Stay tuned for updates on the injury nonetheless.

Bills | Sammy Watkins has career day

Sun, 08 Nov 2015 13:56:58 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins caught eight passes for 168 yards, including a 44-yard touchdown catch in the third quarter, as Buffalo beat the Miami Dolphins 33-17 on Sunday, Nov. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) had a great day considering he nearly missed out due to an ankle injury, so this was a nice performance given the circumstances. Look for Watkins to get better as he develops a rapport with QB Tyrod Taylor.

Bills | Sammy Watkins active

Sun, 08 Nov 2015 08:41:21 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (ankle) is officially active for the Week 9 game against the Miami Dolphins.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) is still dealing with his injury but should be involved in the passing game this week. Owners should consider Watkins a risky option because of the injury but could be a starting option since the Dolphins are in the middle of the pack in terms of fantasy points allowed to opposing wide receivers.

Bills | Sammy Watkins will play

Sun, 08 Nov 2015 06:19:00 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (ankle) will play in the Week 9 game against the Miami Dolphins but could see limited snaps during the game.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) has not played in a few weeks but should be the team's No. 1 receiver against the Dolphins. Watkins is a risky option because he is still dealing with the injury, so owners may want to consider other options to use.

Bills | Sammy Watkins a game-time decision

Sat, 07 Nov 2015 06:22:31 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (ankle) will be a game-time decision for the Week 9 game against the Miami Dolphins because of his ankle injury, according to head coach Rex Ryan.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) expects to play against the Dolphins, but owners will have to check the inactive list before deciding on their lineups. Watkins has dealt with injuries this season and probably will not be a great option for owners.
