Rams | Sammy Watkins scores in Week 14

Sun, 10 Dec 2017 20:55:53 -0800

Los Angeles Rams WR Sammy Watkins finished with three receptions for 21 yards and a touchdown in the Week 14 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins has scored in three consecutive games. While he hasn't done much in terms of yardage, he is a solid WR4 in deeper PPR formats since he has three or more grabs in each of the past four outings, too.

Rams | Sammy Watkins finds end zone again

Sun, 03 Dec 2017 20:53:28 -0800

Los Angeles Rams WR Sammy Watkins posted three grabs for 38 yards and a touchdown on four targets in Week 13 against the Arizona Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins has touchdown receptions in four of the past five outings. Despite the frequent scores his catch totals and yardage make him more of a WR4 across more fantasy formats.

Rams | Sammy Watkins draws nine targets

Sun, 26 Nov 2017 20:06:25 -0800

Los Angeles Rams WR Sammy Watkins caught four passes on nine targets for 81 yards and a touchdown in a 26-20 win over the New Orleans Saints in Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins has been a touchdown-dependent flex play since joining the Rams, but with Robert Woods nursing a shoulder injury, Watkins took advantage. Until Woods returns, Watkins is a lot easier to trust as a fantasy starter.

Rams | Saints' secondary likely to be shorthanded

Fri, 24 Nov 2017 12:40:23 -0800

Los Angeles Rams WRs Sammy Watkins and Cooper Kupp could be facing a pair of backup cornerbacks in Week 12 against the New Orleans Saints, as starting CBs Marshon Lattimore (ankle) and Ken Crawley abdomen) (were not at practice Friday, Nov. 24.

Fantasy Tip: This would have been the best news for Robert Woods, but he is set to miss a couple of weeks with a shoulder injury. With Woods out and Lattimore not around to shadow Watkins, the former Buffalo Bill could use this opportunity to get him involved in the offense. Kupp was Jared Goff's most trusted option earlier in the year, so he could also have a big day.

Rams | Sammy Watkins held in check

Sun, 19 Nov 2017 15:39:13 -0800

Los Angeles Rams WR Sammy Watkins posted three grabs for 36 yards on four targets in Week 11 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Fantasy Tip: The three grabs tied his most since Week 3 when he had his best outing of the season with six receptions. Watkins hasn't been much of a factor in Los Angeles, certainly not nearly as quick to fit in as Robert Woods, but he did have two scores in the past two weekends. He remains more of a WR4 or flex option in deeper fantasy leagues at this point. The Rams host the Saints in Week 12.

Rams | Sammy Watkins scores again

Sun, 12 Nov 2017 20:10:15 -0800

Los Angeles Rams WR Sammy Watkins caught two passes for 41 yards and a touchdown in a 33-7 win over the Houston Texans in Week 10.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins has now scored in back-to-back games, but he remains a touchdown-or-bust option. He simply doesn't have the volume to be trusted as a weekly starter.

Rams | Sammy Watkins makes most of only catch

Sun, 05 Nov 2017 13:34:38 -0800

Los Angeles Rams WR Sammy Watkins caught one pass for 67 yards and one touchdown against the New York Giants in Week 9.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins reached the end zone for the first time in five games but was only targeted two times during the game. He is a risky option for owners because he has at least 60 yards in only two games this season but his big-play potential makes him valuable in fantasy leagues.

Rams | Three grabs for Sammy Watkins

Sun, 22 Oct 2017 17:21:42 -0700

Los Angeles Rams WR Sammy Watkins posted three catches for 42 yards on five targets in Week 7 against the Arizona Cardinals in London.

Fantasy Tip: That isn't a lot of production, but it's his second-highest yardage total since Week 1. He no longer warrants fantasy consideration outside of the deepest of leagues heading into Week 9.

Rams | Sammy Watkins likely to have shadow

Fri, 20 Oct 2017 06:10:45 -0700

Los Angeles Rams WR Sammy Watkins is likely to be shadowed by Arizona Cardinals CB Patrick Peterson in Week 7.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins has six targets, two catches and 28 yards over the last three games, and he may need to be benched for this matchup. He is an interesting buy-low option on the trade market, though.

Rams | Sammy Watkins confused about recent role?

Tue, 10 Oct 2017 09:40:03 -0700

Los Angeles Rams WRs Sammy Watkins was held without a reception on four targets in Week 6 and has one catch on six targets for 17 yards over his past two games. Watkins expressed his displeasure on social media by saying, "Something (has to) be going on," prompting a discussion with head coach Sean McVay on Monday, Oct. 9.

Fantasy Tip: For what it's worth, McVay doesn't believe the last two weeks are "indicative of his production for the rest of the season." It would not be surprising if Watkins got the squeaky-wheel treatment soon, but it may not be a good idea against one of the most difficult schedules for any receiver going forward. Over the next three games, he will likely see Jalen Ramsey, Patrick Peterson and Janoris Jenkins in primary coverage, meaning he should be on fantasy benches.

Rams | Sammy Watkins back at practice

Thu, 05 Oct 2017 16:45:21 -0700

Los Angeles Rams WR Sammy Watkins (illness) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins was held in check last week but will continue to be a top target for the Rams in the passing game. He will be facing a tough Seattle Seahawks defense in Week 5 but could be a No. 3 receiver or flex option in some leagues.

Rams | Sammy Watkins sits out

Wed, 04 Oct 2017 16:57:45 -0700

Los Angeles Rams WR Sammy Watkins (illness) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins should recover from the illness before the team's Week 5 game, but owners should keep an eye on the situation. He is coming off a disappointing Week 4 performance but is still one of the top targets in the passing game. He will be facing a tough Seattle Seahawks defense but should still be considered a No. 3 receiver or a flex option for owners.

Rams | Sammy Watkins limited to one catch

Sun, 01 Oct 2017 17:29:43 -0700

Los Angeles Rams WR Sammy Watkins managed just one catch for 17 yards on two targets in Week 4 against the Dallas Cowboys.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins was terribly disappointing after his 106 yards and two touchdowns last weekend. He'll look to rebound in Week 5, but he faces a tough matchup with the Seattle Seahawks coming to town.

Rams | Sammy Watkins not on injury report

Fri, 29 Sep 2017 14:55:19 -0700

Los Angeles Rams WR Sammy Watkins (concussion) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 29, and is not on the injury report for Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins is coming off a terrific Week 3 performance and should continue to be a main target in the team's passing game. He can be considered at least a No. 3 fantasy receiver this week because of the injuries the Dallas Cowboys are dealing with in their secondary.

Rams | Sammy Watkins expected to play Week 4

Fri, 29 Sep 2017 10:49:01 -0700

Los Angeles Rams WR Sammy Watkins (concussion) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Sept. 28, and is expected to officially clear the concussion protocol Friday, Sept. 29.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins broke out in a big way in Week 3 against the San Francisco 49ers and could have another good day in Week 4 versus the Dallas Cowboys, but his road gets much more difficult after that with games against the Seattle Seahawks, Jacksonville Jaguars, Arizona Cardinals and New York Giants next up. He figures to be a low-end WR2 this week, but could slide down into fringe WR3 territory after that.

Rams | Full practice for Sammy Watkins

Thu, 28 Sep 2017 17:10:54 -0700

Los Angeles Rams WR Sammy Watkins (concussion) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins appears ready for a full workload this week and will be facing a banged-up Dallas Cowboys secondary this week. He is coming off a terrific Week 3 game where he recorded 106 yards and two touchdowns. Watkins can be a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver for owners.

Rams | Limited practice for Sammy Watkins

Wed, 27 Sep 2017 17:53:09 -0700

Los Angeles Rams WR Sammy Watkins (concussion) was limited during practice Wednesday, Sept. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to check later in the week to see if Watkins will be cleared to play in Week 4. He recorded 106 yards and two touchdowns in the last game and should continue to have a big role in the passing game if he plays in Week 4. He could be at least a No. 3 receiver in fantasy leagues if he is active.

Rams | Sammy Watkins in protocol

Fri, 22 Sep 2017 05:05:40 -0700

Updating previous reports, Los Angeles Rams WR Sammy Watkins (concussion) is in the concussion protocol Friday, Sept. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins is coming off a 6-106-2 game in Week 3 but has a couple of extra days to recover. He'd be a WR3 option against the Dallas Cowboys if he's fit to go.

Rams | Sammy Watkins has possible concussion

Thu, 21 Sep 2017 23:21:50 -0700

Los Angeles Rams WR Sammy Watkins (concussion) left the team's Week 3 game against the San Francisco 49ers with about eight minutes remaining after being evaluated on the sidelines for a head injury. Watkins went to the locker room and was placed in the NFL's concussion protocol.

Fantasy Tip: This isn't the news fantasy owners wanted to hear after Watkins enjoyed his best game of the season by far. The silver lining is that the team doesn't take the field again until Oct. 1, giving Watkins 10 days to recover. If he does, he has WR2 potential against the Cowboys. If he doesn't, Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp become interesting options.

Rams | Two scores for Sammy Watkins

Thu, 21 Sep 2017 20:58:25 -0700

Los Angeles Rams WR Sammy Watkins finished with six catches on seven targets for 106 yards and two touchdowns in a 41-39 win over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: After two lackluster games to start the year, Watkins broke out against San Francisco. Chemistry between Watkins and Jared Goff should only improve as the season goes on, and Watkins has WR2 upside against Dallas in Week 4.

Rams | Sammy Watkins quiet in Week 2

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 21:24:57 -0700

Los Angeles Rams WR Sammy Watkins posted two catches for just 30 yards on two targets in Week 2 against Washington.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins has seven grabs for just 88 yards and he hasn't visited the end zone through two games. He is slowly getting up to speed in the team's system after coming over from the Bills late in the preseason. Eventually he'll re-emerge as a top fantasy option, but right now you can expect mediocre results until he gets up to speed.

Rams | Sammy Watkins catches all five targets

Sun, 10 Sep 2017 19:42:11 -0700

Los Angeles Rams WR Sammy Watkins caught all five of his targets for 58 yards in a 46-9 win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Despite joining the Rams about a month ago, Watkins already showed solid chemistry with Jared Goff. A Week 2 meeting with Washington could mean a matchup with Josh Norman, but Watkins still has enough upside to use as a WR3.

Rams | Sammy Watkins expected to play Saturday

Mon, 14 Aug 2017 18:56:58 -0700

Los Angeles Rams WR Sammy Watkins is expected to play in the preseason game against the Oakland Raiders Saturday, Aug. 14, according to head coach Sean McVay.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins will need some time to learn the Rams offense, so it is not known how much playing time he will receive Saturday. Watkins probably will be the Rams' top receiver this season and should see plenty of targets. He probably should be considered a low-end No. 2 or a No. 3 receiver in fantasy leagues.

Rams | Sammy Watkins expects big plays

Sat, 12 Aug 2017 20:53:56 -0700

Los Angeles Rams WR Sammy Watkins said he can be "that home-run guy" for the offense.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins has loads of talent, but staying healthy was already a problem, and the quarterback situation in Los Angeles is far from ideal. He should be considered a high-upside WR3 at this point.

Rams | Sammy Watkins may receive long-term deal

Fri, 11 Aug 2017 14:24:55 -0700

Los Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead said the team is interested in signing WR Sammy Watkins to a long-term contract since he is entering the last year of his contract. The two sides have not had contract talks at this point.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins should be the No. 1 receiver for the Rams this season but is still a risky option because of his injury history. He has joined another team that likes to run the ball, but he should receive a solid amount of targets in the passing game. He can be considered a No. 2 receiver in most fantasy leagues.

Bills | Buffalo deals Sammy Watkins to the Rams

Fri, 11 Aug 2017 10:16:28 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins was traded along with a 2018 sixth-round pick to the Los Angeles Rams for CB E.J. Gaines and a 2018 second-round selection on Friday, Aug. 11.

Fantasy Tip: The Bills did not take advantage of their ability to pick up the fifth-year option on Watkins this spring, and it turns out it won't be a problem for them after all. Instead, they will likely move forward with rookie Zay Jones and the newly acquired Jordan Matthews as their starting receivers. Jones should now be considered a quality WR3 option in fantasy, while Matthews will likely settle in as a WR4, at least initially.

Rams | Sammy Watkins traded to LA Rams

Fri, 11 Aug 2017 10:00:18 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins was traded along with a 2018 sixth-round pick to the Los Angeles Rams for CB E.J. Gaines and a 2018 second-round selection on Friday, Aug. 11.

Fantasy Tip: The Rams desperately needed a lead receiver and they will get one with the injury-prone Watkins, who will reunite with Robert Woods in Los Angeles and play the DeSean Jackson role in new head coach Sean McVay's offense. Watkins' arrival gives Jared Goff a fighting chance to be a quality fantasy quarterback as well. Watkins should still be considered no better than a high-upside WR2 given his durability issues.

Bills | Sammy Watkins busy in preseason opener

Thu, 10 Aug 2017 17:26:19 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins was targeted on each of Tyrod Taylor's first four pass attempts and finished with four catches for 39 yards in in the team's preseason opener versus the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday, Aug. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Unfortunately, we can Watkins' ADP to skyrocket over the next week. Watkins' ability has never been in question, but his ability to stay on the field has. He has always been capable of being a fantasy WR1, but owners need to remember he has played 21 of 32 games over the last two seasons due to foot injuries. Owners need to understand the risk he comes with before using a third-round selection on him in drafts.

Bills | Sammy Watkins to play a quarter

Tue, 08 Aug 2017 06:37:27 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (ankle) will play about a quarter in the preseason opener Thursday, Aug. 10, according to head coach Sean McDermott.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins turned his ankle over the weekend, but it's just another strand in a string of injuries. He has WR2 potential, but he can't be trusted as more than a WR3 in fantasy.

Bills | Sammy Watkins practices

Mon, 07 Aug 2017 14:13:46 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (ankle) participated in practice Monday, Aug. 7, and appeared to be a full participant.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins has dealt with injuries in the past but it appears that the one he suffered this weekend is minor. He has been a productive player when he is healthy and should be the No. 1 receiver for the Bills in 2017. Owners in most leagues can consider him a No. 2 fantasy receiver.

Bills | Sammy Watkins leaves practice early

Sun, 06 Aug 2017 13:26:31 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (ankle) left practice early Sunday, Aug. 6, after he suffered an ankle injury. Watkins said he believes he will be able to return to practice Monday, Aug. 7.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Watkins suffered a minor injury, but owners should keep an eye on the situation. He was limited to 430 yards and two touchdowns in 2016 because of injury but will be the team's No. 1 receiver this season. Watkins probably can be considered a No. 2 receiver in most fantasy leagues.

Bills | Sammy Watkins fully healthy

Wed, 02 Aug 2017 07:16:43 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) said his surgically repaired left foot is fully healthy. "My job is really to get back in shape and be out there with the guys," Watkins said. "I don't want to hear no more about the foot. The foot is fine. I'm healed." He'll be on a fluctuating repetition count during training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins has WR1 talent, but he has been a walking injury report throughout his career. Give credit to him for playing through it until last season, but this is a prove-it year for him. He's a WR2 with significant risk and reward.

Bills | Sammy Watkins looks sharp

Thu, 27 Jul 2017 18:34:11 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, July 27, but he didn't look hindered by his surgically-repaired foot during drills, according to Joe Buscaglia of WKBW.com.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins is a high-risk, high-reward WR2, but if he can stay healthy for an entire season, he could put up WR1 numbers.

Bills | Sammy Watkins on track

Thu, 27 Jul 2017 13:40:33 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) is on schedule in terms of his rehab from his foot injury but will be limited during the early part of training camp, according to head coach Sean McDermott.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins has struggled with injuries over the last year or two but appears to be on track to play in Week 1. He will be the top option in the passing game for the Bills and should see plenty of targets if he is healthy this season. Owners in most leagues should consider Watkins as a No. 2 fantasy receiver.

Bills | Sammy Watkins healthy for camp?

Sat, 22 Jul 2017 18:21:33 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) is expected to be close to 100 percent healthy when training camp begins.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins has injury red flags galore, but he has WR1 potential if he can actually stay healthy. When it comes time to draft a WR2, you may want to roll the dice on Watkins and his upside.

Bills | Sammy Watkins to be limited to open camp

Sun, 25 Jun 2017 17:52:05 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) is unlikely to be ready for a full workload when training camp begins.

Fantasy Tip: His injury history is a major red flag, but Watkins has enough upside to take a chance on as your WR2.

Bills | Sammy Watkins involved in team drills

Tue, 13 Jun 2017 11:56:09 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) participated in team drills at minicamp Tuesday, June 13. Head coach Sean McDermott said Watkins has responded well to a bigger workload and that workload will continue to be increased as long as Watkins can handle it.

Fantasy Tip: At this rate, it looks like Watkins will be able to make a full recovery in time for the regular season as long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks. He has a reputation for being injury prone, though, after missing 11 games the last two seasons. A Buffalo's No. 1 receiver, Watkins can be drafted as a low-end WR1 to high-end WR2.

Bills | Sammy Watkins remains limited

Tue, 13 Jun 2017 08:33:26 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) remains limited in practice Tuesday, June 13. Watkins will likely be relegated to individual drills during mandatory minicamp with the potential to increase his workload in training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins has battled a myriad of injuries in his brief career, but he has as much talent as risk as a low-end WR2.

Bills | Sammy Watkins to be limited

Thu, 08 Jun 2017 07:46:23 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) will be limited in practice Thursday, June 8.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins has been injury prone throughout his career, but he played really well through them the first couple of years. He's a high-risk WR2 in fantasy.

Sat, 20 May 2017 18:36:54 -0700

Bills | Sammy Watkins out of action

Thu, 18 May 2017 08:30:20 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) is not participating in the organized team activities Thursday, May 18.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins has shown equal ability on the field as his propensity for injury. His 60-1,047-9 campaign in 2015 over 13 games had him as a high-end WR2 last year before another foot injury. He'll enter 2017 as a high-risk WR2 that could fall into the WR3 area and handsomely reward you.

Bills | Sammy Watkins' extension not a priority

Fri, 05 May 2017 09:03:24 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins is not expected to receive an extension offer during the season, according to the Buffalo News's Vic Carucci, who believes new head coach Sean McDermott's big-picture vision for the roster doesn't include a huge investment in a receiver.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins has proven to be a dominant force when he can stay on the field but playing 21 of a possible 32 games over the last two seasons isn't helping his cause. Buffalo recently declined his fifth-year team option, so it is beginning to look like they'll be one of the more sought-after free agents in 2018. Almost regardless of where he might land, he should be no worse than a fantasy WR2 this year and beyond.

Bills | No option for Sammy Watkins

Tue, 02 May 2017 12:25:11 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins will not have his fifth-year option picked up, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: This move, or lack of a move, makes sense for the Bills. Watkins is easily Buffalo's best receiver, but he has begun a track record of not being able to stay on the field after missing 11 total games the last two years. Watkins is a high-risk, high-reward pick and should be drafted as a low-end WR2.

Bills | Sammy Watkins' option may not be picked up

Fri, 28 Apr 2017 18:32:41 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins' (foot) fifth-year option likely will not be picked up before the May 2 deadline, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins is recovering from foot surgery and has dealt with injuries over the last few seasons. He should continue to be the Bills' No. 1 receiver in 2017 and can be a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver in fantasy leagues.

Bills | BUF might not pick up Sammy Watkins' option

Sat, 15 Apr 2017 07:04:29 -0700

The Buffalo Bills have not yet determined if they will pick up the fifth-year option on WR Sammy Watkins' rookie contract but the matter will be discussed internally over the next few weeks, according to a source. He is currently under contract for one more season with a salary cap hit of $6.343 million but if the option is picked up, Watkins would cost the team approximately $13 million against the cap in 2018. A decision will be made by May 2.

Fantasy Tip: Although it appears likely that the club will pick up Watkins' option, the matter is up for debate because of his recent injury history. He has missed 11 games over the last two seasons and is currently recovering from a second foot surgery. When healthy, Watkins should be viewed as a low-end WR2 or high-end WR3 in most fantasy formats.

Bills | Sammy Watkins on track

Mon, 03 Apr 2017 09:49:18 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) has had no setbacks and looks good, according to head coach Sean McDermott.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins has been dogged by injuries in his three-year career. He's probably still a low-end WR2 in fantasy, but the health risk is very real.

Bills | Sammy Watkins still on schedule

Tue, 28 Mar 2017 16:21:52 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) has not had any setbacks in his rehabilitation from offseason foot surgery, according to head coach Sean McDermott.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins is perennially a risky proposition at wide receiver in the fantasy realm. He has not played a full season since his rookie year in 2014 and has missed 11 games over the last two seasons. The WR1 potential is obvious, especially with Tyrod Taylor, but Watkins has no finished higher than WR15 in his three years in the NFL. He is a low-end WR2 consideration even with the positive news.

Bills | Sammy Watkins on schedule

Wed, 01 Mar 2017 10:04:15 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) is on schedule in his recovery from offseason foot surgery, according to head coach Sean McDermott.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins underwent a second operation on his foot after the season and probably will not do much until training camp begins. He will be the Bills' No. 1 receiver in 2017 and probably should be considered a No. 3 option for fantasy owners because of his injury history.
