Bills | Sammy Watkins running with ones

Tue, 22 Jul 2014 06:35:33 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins is running exclusively with the first-team offense in practice.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins has impressed early on in camp, and the hype is starting to build. Be careful not to overvalue him as more than a WR4 with upside in your drafts.

Bills | Sammy Watkins impresses in camp

Mon, 21 Jul 2014 17:52:12 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins made several big plays in practice Monday, July 21, according to ESPN.com's Mike Rodak. Watkins beat CB Leodis McKelvin deep, hauled in a pass over three defenders and caught a pass in traffic on a crossing pattern.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins is showing why the Bills traded up in the draft to grab him. You should always expect a few bumps in the road with a rookie receiver, but for fantasy purposes, Watkins is a WR3 with upside.

Mon, 21 Jul 2014 13:12:39 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins returned to practice Monday, July 21, after leaving with an apparent forehead injury.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins was reportedly making plays all over the field before the incident. As long as he's healthy, he'll likely be the team's No. 1 receiving option. He's currently in WR4 territory, but his stock could rise if he continues to impress.

Bills | EJ Manuel, Sammy Watkins show chemistry

Sun, 20 Jul 2014 18:43:37 -0700

Buffalo Bills QB EJ Manuel went 4-for-4 on passes to WR Sammy Watkins during team drills Sunday, July 20.

Fantasy Tip: The fantasy value of both players hinges on how well they can connect, and Sunday's results were definitely a good start. Watkins should still be drafted as a WR3 at this point, but his stock is only going to rise if he and Manuel continue to show chemistry.

Bills | Sammy Watkins' chemistry with EJ Manuel not there

Fri, 27 Jun 2014 05:45:42 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins said his chemistry with QB EJ Manuel is not fully there. "It's not fully there. I mean, we've been connecting at minicamp, and OTAs," Watkins said. "But at the same time, I could be wide open, and if he don't feel it, or if I run it a different type of way, he won't throw the ball."

Bills | Sammy Watkins struggling with drops, mental game

Mon, 16 Jun 2014 11:05:09 -0700

Buffalo Bills rookie WR Sammy Watkins is still learning the mental aspects of football, according to a source, such as lining up after the huddle and reading defenses. Teammates reportedly had to show Watkins where to go at times. Additionally, the final week of practice was said to be his worst as far as drops are concerned.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins may still be the team's best receiver in terms of talent. He's only a rookie so it will take some time for him to get used to the offense and playing at the professional level. At this point, it's best to draft Watkins as a WR3 in standard leagues.

Bills | Nathaniel Hackett likes the direction of the offense

Fri, 06 Jun 2014 19:44:13 -0700

Buffalo Bills offensive-coordinator Nathaniel Hackett believes the offense is improving on the up-tempo style from last year. Hackett pointed to the development of QB EJ Manuel and the addition of WR Sammy Watkins among the reasons for the improvement.

Fantasy Tip: Ideally, an up-tempo offense means more plays and more opportunities for the team's main weapons. However, Manuel and company likely have a long way to go before establishing week-to-week consistency, and the weather in Buffalo won't help the cause.

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins was arguably the best player on the field Tuesday, June 3, during organized team activities. Watkins made eight catches, including a 70-yard touchdown catch on a deep-post route, which appeared to be out of a broken play. Bills QB EJ Manuel also hit Watkins on a deep crossing pattern for 25 yards and on a deep ball for a 35-yard gain on the left sideline.

Bills | Sammy Watkins to contribute immediately

Fri, 09 May 2014 14:01:55 -0700

The Buffalo Bills believe WR Sammy Watkins will contribute to their offense "immediately," and they view him among the likes of Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones and Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green. Watkins is expected to be the team's No. 1 wideout, followed by WR Robert Woods. After that, the team will find a way to fit WRs Mike Williams, Marquise Goodwin and T.J. Graham into the picture.

Fantasy Tip: It's always risky to expect too much out of a wideout in his first season, especially as he grows with young QB EJ Manuel. Still, Watkins has the tools to be great, even in his first year. For now, consider him a WR3 until we see more.

Bills | Sammy Watkins selected fourth overall

Thu, 08 May 2014 17:36:44 -0700

The Buffalo Bills selected Clemson WR Sammy Watkins with the fourth overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Fantasy Tip: The Bills grab another weapon for EJ Manuel. Watkins oozes talent but may have a rough fantasy go this year. A sound pick wouldn't pit him as anything more than a WR4 to allow some insurance for taking the chance on his talent.
