Although the Jacksonville Jaguars coaching staff is still high on QB Chad Henne, coach Gus Bradley said QB Blake Bortles could start a preseason game. "It would be late in the preseason if he did, and we'll see how things go," said Bradley. "We're really excited about Chad and what he's going to do so we'll see how it goes with him until that fourth preseason game."

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles said he will be ready if needed early in the season, even though the team plans on keeping him off the field in 2014. "I think you have to have the mindset that you have to go out and compete every day," Bortles said. "You want to be the guy. In my situation, whenever my number is called I want to be ready to go and execute the offense just like Chad would. That's my goal, to make sure I'm prepared and ready and continuing to get better."

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Chad Henne is the no-doubt starter, according to beat writer Ryan O'Halloran. O'Halloran predicts rookie QB Blake Bortles could be the starter by Week 8 against the Miami Dolphins. Another possibility is Week 12 after the bye week.
Fantasy Tip: Henne is a weak QB2 but could be a worthwhile matchup play at some point. Bortles has little value in single-season leagues right now.

Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley reiterated that the team wants to give QB Blake Bortles a year to develop behind QB Chad Henne. "We really felt comfortable with (Henne) coming back, with a another year in the system," Bradley said. "And I think it gave us flexibility. Then when Blake was there available for us, we really wanted to capture that opportunity. We do feel good about where Blake's at, but we feel like this time that he has under Chad - a year to develop - will be really good in the end result."
