Vikings | Jerick McKinnon could see bigger role

Fri, 22 Jul 2016 12:12:22 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon could be more involved in the passing game if he was able to improve his pass protection over the offseason. He is not expected to receive more than 75 to 100 carries this season.

Fantasy Tip: McKinnon could use his speed in the passing game if he earns more playing time. He probably will see limited touches in the running game unless Adrian Peterson suffers an injury. McKinnon should be considered a late-round option in most leagues but may have more value in point-per-reception leagues.

Vikings | Jerick McKinnon could see more snaps

Mon, 18 Jul 2016 08:01:52 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon could see more playing time as the team looks to get more out of the passing game.

Fantasy Tip: One of the first critiques you'll hear about QB Teddy Bridgewater is his ability to throw the ball downfield. It would make sense to throw more screens and short-yardage passes to backs. Adrian Peterson has never been a renowned receiver, and he's probably coming off the field for third down anyway. So it shouldn't affect him too much. McKinnon also has luster due to Peterson's mileage. Look for McKinnon atop the RB5 spectrum.

Vikings | Jerick McKinnon should play more

Wed, 02 Mar 2016 16:55:46 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon is expected to have a larger role in 2016 behind RB Adrian Peterson. "I do feel good about McKinnon's role and being able to take some plays off [Peterson] because he's good and also [Matt] Asiata if we get him back," head coach Mike Zimmer said.

Fantasy Tip: McKinnon and Asiata didn't see much of the field with Peterson staying healthy throughout the season, but both served a purpose in Minnesota's offense. McKinnon is a more explosive runner while Asiata excels in pass-catching and blocking. McKinnon would have more value if Peterson were to get injured and miss games, though.

Vikings | Jerick McKinnon a star in waiting?

Sun, 07 Feb 2016 20:22:08 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon has averaged at least 5.2 yards per carry and at least 83 rushing yards in every game that he has received at least 15 carries.

Fantasy Tip: While Adrian Peterson will be the workhorse in Minnesota as long as he is healthy, McKinnon has too much upside to go undrafted. Stash him on your bench in 2016 just in case Peterson goes down.

Vikings | Jerick McKinnon goes off in blowout

Sun, 27 Dec 2015 21:33:40 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon rushed seven times for 89 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the Week 16 game against the New York Giants. He added two catches for eight yards.

Fantasy Tip: McKinnon posted his first two NFL rushing scores, and had a nice stat line, but his work mostly came after the game was decided. He will remain the backup with Adrian Peterson getting most, if not all, of the touches in the showdown at Lambeau Field in Week 17 for the NFC North Division title.

Vikings | Jerick McKinnon probable vs. Giants

Fri, 25 Dec 2015 12:46:01 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (hamstring) was a full participant in practice Friday, Dec. 25, and he is probable for the game against the New York Giants Friday, Dec. 25.

Fantasy Tip: McKinnon ($2,500, 5.0) dazzled in the passing game last week after Adrian Peterson ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) was sidelined, but Peterson is probable and expected to carry the load against the Giants. McKinnon cannot be started with confidence in any fantasy format in Week 16.

Vikings | Limited practice for Jerick McKinnon

Thu, 24 Dec 2015 12:11:18 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (hamstring) put in a limited practice Thursday, Dec. 24.

Fantasy Tip: McKinnon ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) could see an increased workload this weekend with Adrian Peterson injured, but the backup running back probably won't see enough of a role to be considered a viable deep sleeper pick on FantasyScore, even in this juicy matchup.

Vikings | Jerick McKinnon will play against Detroit

Fri, 18 Sep 2015 13:42:23 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (ankle) was a full participant in practice Friday, Sept. 18, and is probable for Week 2 against the Detroit Lions.

Fantasy Tip: McKinnon ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) only had three carries for 20 yards and two catches for eight yards as Minnesota's offense struggled to find consistency in Week 1. McKinnon's utilizations could easily increase if the Vikes find success on offense, but it's not worth testing on FantasyScore this weekend.

Thu, 17 Sep 2015 14:57:56 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (ankle) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Sept. 17.

Vikings | Jerick McKinnon takes part in practice

Wed, 16 Sep 2015 16:07:24 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (ankle) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 16.

Fantasy Tip: McKinnon ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) was held to 28 overall yards in the team's Week 1 game and likely will continue to see limited playing time while Adrian Peterson is healthy. He will be facing the Detroit Lions in Week 2, but owners should be able to find better options to use.
