Jaguars | Storm Johnson not dressing

Sun, 02 Nov 2014 08:45:29 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Storm Johnson is inactive Sunday, Nov. 2, for Week 9.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson is a healthy scratch today. Denard Robinson ($5,300; 10.6% of your cap) is a weaker RB2 option, and Toby Gerhart ($3,100; 6.2%) is a weak flex option on FantasyScore.

Jaguars | Toby Gerhart active

Sun, 26 Oct 2014 08:36:54 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Toby Gerhart (foot) is active for the Week 8 game Sunday, Oct. 26. RB Storm Johnson is inactive for the game.

Fantasy Tip: Gerhart ($3,400; 6.8% of your cap) hasn't shown us enough to warrant a play on FantasyScore today. Denard Robinson ($4,700; 9.4%) is worth considering as your flex option. However, the two could split carries. Johnson was a healthy scratch.

Jaguars | Jags to use three-headed RB monster

Fri, 17 Oct 2014 16:55:58 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RBs Storm Johnson and Denard Robinson will split first- and second-down snaps in the Week 7 game against the Cleveland Browns, while RB Jordan Todman will handle third-down duties with RB Toby Gerhart (foot) ruled out for a second straight game.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson posted a rushing touchdown last week, and is your best bet in FantasyScore, especially at just $4,000 salary (or 8.0 percent of the cap). Robinson and Todman are $3,000 (or 6.0 percent of the cap), but figure to see fewer touches, especially Todman.

Jaguars | Storm Johnson was on snap count

Tue, 14 Oct 2014 10:29:49 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Storm Johnson was on a snap count in Week 6 in his first career start. He carried just 10 times, and head coach Gus Bradley said that's exactly what the team had planned for him. Johnson had 21 yards on the ground and also scored a touchdown. "His toughness and things like that were there," Bradley said. "But, there's a couple of areas and just his overall reads and where we actually want the play to hit. He hit it more front side where he could bring it backside, so things like that."

Fantasy Tip: It sounds as if the Jaguars aren't ready to give Johnson a full workload. With Toby Gerhart possibly returning in Week 7 against the Cleveland Browns, Johnson could see even fewer touches moving forward. He costs only $4,000 (8.0% of cap) at FantasyScore, but he's a desperation flex play.

Jaguars | Storm Johnson starting

Sun, 12 Oct 2014 08:46:15 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Storm Johnson is starting Sunday, Oct. 12, for the Week 6 game.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson is a bare-minimum $3,000 option on FantasyScore today that is begging for the picking. If you're looking to bank on high salaries elsewhere, scoop him up today.

Jaguars | Storm Johnson probable

Fri, 10 Oct 2014 13:46:59 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Storm Johnson (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 10, and is listed as probable for Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson is expected to start in Week 6 with Toby Gerhart (foot) out, but he will be sharing carries with Jordan Todman and Denard Robinson. Johnson only costs $3,000 on FantasyScore and could be a sleeper option at the flex position.

Jaguars | Bigger role for Storm Johnson?

Thu, 09 Oct 2014 18:38:24 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Storm Johnson (ankle) will likely have a chance to prove he deserves more playing going forward, according to head coach Gus Bradley.

Fantasy Tip: The Jaguars running game has been a mess, but Johnson's $3,000 salary (6% of cap) at FantasyScore is the minimum at the position, and Jacksonville is facing a Tennessee defense ranked 26th against the run. Johnson will open up plenty of cap room for other players, but he could also end up providing little value. He is a high-risk sleeper in Week 6.

Jaguars | Storm Johnson practicing in full

Thu, 09 Oct 2014 13:23:42 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Storm Johnson (ankle) practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson's ankle injury isn't serious, so we expect him to play against the Tennessee Titans, and he could be the team's starting running back if Toby Gerhart (foot) can't suit up. Johnson could be a tempting option at FantasyScore if he starts.

Jaguars | Storm Johnson a full go

Wed, 08 Oct 2014 15:14:58 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Storm Johnson (ankle) practiced in full Wednesday, Oct. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson should be fine for Week 6 against the Tennessee Titans. He'll cost a measly $3,000 at FantasyScore this week, making him an attractive deep sleeper play against a defense he should be able to have success against if he has enough carries.

Jaguars | Committee approach for Jags backfield

Wed, 08 Oct 2014 13:36:16 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RBs Toby Gerhart, Denard Robinson, Jordan Todman and Storm Johnson have all shared carries in the backfield. The team ranks 31st in the league in rushing, averaging just 67 yards per game. Johnson is the wild card in the backfield, as he ran four times for a team-high 27 yards in his debut in Week 5. "It's not surprising to me," head coach Gus Bradley said. "I mentioned two weeks ago he had a good practice. Last week he had a good week, and it's that trust and he's building trust. For him to go in there and perform and really capture his opportunity was pretty cool to see. ... The runs he had were very impressive."

Johnson reinjured his ankle last Week, but he's expected to be fine for Week 6 against the Tennessee Titans. Johnson could become a starter for the team at some point this year, as the team hasn't been reluctant to trust their rookies on offense. Both general manager David Caldwell and Bradley think it's smarter to go with the younger player if competition is close between two players. Gerhart sprained his right foot in Week 5 and finished with a season-low four carries for nine yards while playing just 10 snaps.

Fantasy Tip: Gerhart ($3,700) is a bargain option at FantasyScore this week, assuming he plays. The Titans have been terrible at stopping the run. Johnson ($3,000) is riding high right now and could see more touches, though, if the team goes with the hot hand.

Jaguars | Storm Johnson earning more reps

Tue, 07 Oct 2014 19:12:48 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Storm Johnson saw his first action of the season in Week 5 and is expected to see an increased role in the offense going forward.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson had four carries for 27 yards against the Steelers, and it sounds like he will join Toby Gerhart and Denard Robinson in the running back mix. However, it's hard to imagine Johnson producing worthwhile fantasy numbers as part of a committee for a struggling Jacksonville offense.

Jaguars | Toby Gerhart is lead dog

Tue, 12 Aug 2014 17:05:02 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Toby Gerhart (hip) is the "lead dog" in the ground game, according to offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch. RBs Storm Johnson, Denard Robinson and Jordan Todman are also battling for carries. Gerhart is a candidate to lead the conference in carries, but there are questions about his ability since he has just 86 attempts over the past two seasons.

Jaguars | Committee at RB coming?

Mon, 11 Aug 2014 14:05:34 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Toby Gerhart could be part of a running-back-by-committee approach this season with Gerhart getting around 15 carries a game, in the opinion of FOXSports.com's Alex Marvez.

Fantasy Tip: Even if the team does use some type of committee, Gerhart probably is still the top option for the team. Owners should consider Gerhart as a No. 2 or No. 3 running back during drafts. Jordan Todman, Denard Robinson and Storm Johnson could also receive some carries during the season but only Todman should be a late-round option in deeper leagues.

Jaguars | Don't want Toby Gerhart at 300 carries

Thu, 31 Jul 2014 06:51:53 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Toby Gerhart is expected to be spelled by RBs Jordan Todman, Denard Robinson and Storm Johnson so he doesn't reach the 300-carry plateau.

Fantasy Tip: Gerhart is still expected to be the leading back and makes a RB3 with upside. Todman, Robinson and Johnson will battle in camp for the backup role and could be worth an RB5 spot.

Jaguars | Storm Johnson at RB4

Sun, 20 Jul 2014 14:31:21 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Storm Johnson will enter camp as the fourth running back, but the team is excited about his potential. "Storm is going to run at the same speed as (Toby Gerhart) and maybe a hair faster, but he's strong and really compact," offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch said. "He has incredible vision and lower body strength."

Fantasy Tip: Johnson could be a worthwhile addition to a dynasty league, but he'd need a bevy of injuries or an amazing camp to contribute much this season.
