Steelers | Martavis Bryant expected to practice

Mon, 22 May 2017 15:08:36 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant is expected to be on the field for organized team activities Tuesday, May 22.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant was reinstated earlier this offseason and will be allowed back on the field for practices. Bryant has caught 14 touchdowns in 21 career games and is a deep threat for the Steelers. He will be a risky option for owners because of his off-field issues but can be a No. 3 receiver in fantasy leagues if he is on the field.

Steelers | Martavis Bryant absent from workouts

Mon, 01 May 2017 20:41:47 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant was not on the field for the team's "Phase 2" of their offseason workouts Monday, May 1. He still has "steps to take" before being able to rejoin his teammates for practices, including securing a local counselor. Bryant is "hopeful for minicamp or sooner."

Fantasy Tip: All indications are that Bryant is determined and focused in making a successful return to the NFL in 2017. Considering the numbers he's posted and the high-octane offense he plays in, the 26-year-old figures to once again make an impact next season. Thus, he should seriously be monitored accordingly in drafts this summer for his mega potential.

Steelers | More on Martavis Bryant

Tue, 25 Apr 2017 13:32:40 -0700

Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant cannot attend practices or play in the preseason until he finds a treating clinician. With the help of a clinician, Bryant must then plan activities for Pittsburgh's bye week and next offseason in an effort to keep him out of trouble.

Fantasy Tip: If the stars align for Bryant, meaning, if he can kick his bad habits and stay on the field, he is capable of achieving WR3 status, and possibly higher. Tread carefully, though. We've been down this road before.

Steelers | Martavis Bryant reinstated

Tue, 25 Apr 2017 13:12:34 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant was reinstated from his suspension Tuesday, April 25. Bryant served a season-long suspension last year for multiple violations of the league's substance-abuse policy.

Fantasy Tip: The prodigal son returns, again. Bryant has had more than his fair share of off-field issues, but there's no denying his talent and skill. Even so, he missed all of last season and only played in 21 games in the two years prior. He'll at least play second fiddle to Antonio Brown but the No. 2 wide receiver position is his for the taking. Plus, he already knows the team and knows the offense. If he can stay healthy and stay out of trouble, Bryant has a real shot at posting WR3 numbers.

Steelers | Steelers still unsure about Martavis Bryant

Mon, 24 Apr 2017 22:04:58 -0700

The Pittsburgh Steelers still have heard nothing from the league regarding WR Martavis Bryant's reinstatement from suspension days before the NFL Draft. According to general manager Kevin Colbert, the team now must "operate under the assumption that, until he is here, he is not here."

Fantasy Tip: While that's unfortunate news for Pittsburgh, considering they might acquire wide receiver help in the draft before potentially learning that they'll get the suspended wide-out back for the season, this isn't as harmful to fantasy owners. There's still plenty of time for Bryant to return to the team leading up to next season, and if he is indeed back, he'll definitely be someone to watch, having a solid WR2 ceiling.

Steelers | Martavis Bryant meets with management council

Sat, 15 Apr 2017 10:09:28 -0700

Suspended Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant met Thursday, April 13, with the NFL's Management Council as part of his efforts for reinstatement from a year-long drug suspension. Among the conditions for being cleared to play again, Bryant was told to assemble a plan detailing safeguards that would help him prevent a relapse upon returning to Pittsburgh, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: There's been speculation Bryant was on the verge of being reinstated for a couple months already, but if the league can help him avoid any future suspensions by having him lay out this plan now, it is worth the wait. Bryant would obviously be a risky fantasy bet going forward, but he has low-end WR2 upside and 10-plus touchdown potential if he can stay on the straight and narrow.

Steelers | Martavis Bryant's reinstatement imminent?

Wed, 29 Mar 2017 21:25:35 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant is expecting to hear back from the NFL soon in regards to his reinstatement from a year-long suspension for multiple violations of the league's substance abuse policy. Per the Beaver County Times' Chris Bradford, a league source told the paper on Wednesday, March 29, that Bryant's reinstatement is "imminent." According to Bryant's agents, the receiver has added 25 pounds of muscle and is in "excellent condition".

Fantasy Tip: Owners should know to believe the "25 pounds of muscle" comment when they see it with their own eyes. Bryant has tremendous upside, but he is obviously hard to trust considering he is played a total of 21 of a possible 48 regular-season games since becoming a Steeler in 2014. If he keeps out of trouble following is likely reinstatement, he should be a considered a high-risk, high-reward WR4 in fantasy.

Steelers | Martavis Bryant awaiting reinstatement

Tue, 14 Mar 2017 06:29:47 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant is eligible to return from his one-year suspension, and the league has until the end of March to rule on his reinstatement. Sources close to Bryant said he has gained 15 pounds as he trained and helped coach high school football during his absence.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant scored 15 touchdowns in 21 games with elite speed on his 6-foot-4 frame. It's anyone's guess what a prolonged layoff would mean for him, though. He'll probably have to be taken as a WR3, but the risk and reward are both plentiful.

Steelers | Martavis Bryant to be reinstated soon?

Tue, 28 Feb 2017 14:44:35 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant could be reinstated in as soon as two weeks "if the [NFL] does not drag its feet", according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Ed Bouchette. Bryant applied for reinstatement in January after serving a one-year suspension for his second violation of failing drug tests.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant has the size, speed and talent to be a successful professional wide receiver. His off-field issues remain a big concern, however. Even if/when Bryant is reinstated, it could take some time before he becomes fully acclimated again to the NFL. Drafting him as a mid- to late-round option is ideal, but be prepared to stash him.

Steelers | Martavis Bryant not a lock to rejoin Pitt

Tue, 31 Jan 2017 14:17:52 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant has "a ways to go" before the Steelers can count on him playing, according to owner Art Rooney.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant is a great talent on the field, but he has had more than his fair share of off-field issues. It remains to be seen what happens this offseason, but there's just too much risk involved to seriously consider taking a chance on Bryant at this point.
