New Orleans Saints WR Brandon Coleman posted six receptions for 47 yards on 10 targets in the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 20, against the Houston Texans. He saw increased work with WRs Brandin Cooks and Willie Snead resting.
Fantasy Tip: Coleman looked good last preseason, but he never did quite emerge as that special fantasy sleeper everyone envisioned. Now, Brandin Cooks is the top banana and a WR1 for fantasy owners, and Willie Snead and rookie Michael Thomas look to be special. It appears Coleman will be the No. 4 wideout in NOLA, and more of a WR5 for fantasy players in most formats.
Sat, 20 Aug 2016 16:48:23 -0700
New Orleans WR Brandin Cooks and WR Willie Snead will not play in the team's exhibition game against the Houston Texans on Saturday, Aug. 20.
Fantasy Tip: Neither player is known to be dealing with an injury, so the Saints' decision to sit both starters is likely just a way to give rookie Michael Thomas and others behind him on the depth chart plenty of snaps to show their wares. Look for Cooks and Snead to play most of the first half when New Orleans hosts the Pittsburgh Steelers next Friday.
Tue, 12 Jul 2016 20:06:43 -0700
New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead had a big season in 2015, and the big question heading into 2016 is whether he loses snaps in two-receiver sets to WR Michael Thomas or another player. Beat writer Nick Underhill feels if Snead gets the same opportunities as last season he could have an even better season.
Fantasy Tip: Snead was just shy of 1,000 yards last season, and was a legitimate WR3/4 or flex fantasy option in most formats down the stretch.
Thu, 30 Jun 2016 09:19:08 -0700
New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees has confidence in his young corps of wide receivers led by WR Brandin Cooks and WR Willie Snead.
"I think when Drew is out there, he doesn't look at Brandin Cooks as a young player," head coach Sean Payton said. "I don't think he looks at Snead that way anymore because of the experience they've had. There's a combination there of guys that know what to do and how do they fit with the scheme that we're asking of them."
Fantasy Tip: Brees is 37, but he led the league in passing yards last season and completed 68.3% of his passes. The 32 touchdowns limited his output some, but that could increase as the experience with this group increases. Cooks has the ability of a WR1 in fantasy, but he's probably better served as a WR2. Snead amassed 984 yards and three scores last year and is a serviceable WR3. Brandon Coleman is a breakout candidate as a WR4. As for Brees, he's just below the elite tier of fantasy QBs, but he should be one of the first options after the top three are gone.
Mon, 30 May 2016 13:22:30 -0700
New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead could take a big step forward this season with his experience and comfort level in the offense, according to head coach Sean Payton. Payton said Snead has great attention to detail, he trains well, he's smart and he has a good knack for finding holes in zone coverage.
Fantasy Tip: Snead really stepped up last year and barely missed 1,000 yards. If he can maintain his status as the Saints' No. 2 wide receiver and improve on last year's numbers, then he can achieve WR3 status in 2016.
Sun, 03 Jan 2016 15:42:52 -0800
New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead just missed the 1,000-yard mark Sunday, Jan. 3, in a 20-17 win over the Atlanta Falcons. Snead needed 51 yards to make the mark, but he finished with three catches and 35 yards.
Fantasy Tip: It was a very nice season for Snead, who should be among the top receivers on the Saints roster in 2016. Because he hasn't compiled several seasons of this, Snead will likely be a middle-round candidate for drafting.
Mon, 21 Dec 2015 22:52:25 -0800
New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead posted 10 receptions for 76 yards in the Week 15 game against the Detroit Lions. He was targeted 12 times.
Fantasy Tip: Snead has 17 receptions for 198 yards over the past two games, and he has four or more receptions in three straight and 10 of the past 12 games. He is a solid low-end WR2 or flex FantasyScore option moving forward.
Sun, 13 Dec 2015 17:05:50 -0800
New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead had seven catches for 122 yards in a 24-17 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 14.
Fantasy Tip: After a couple of poor outings, Snead righted the ship with his second 100-yard game of the year. He has carved out a solid role in the Saints' passing attack, and he is worth a look at FantasyScore against favorable matchups.
Fri, 11 Dec 2015 14:47:13 -0800
New Orleans Saints WRs Willie Snead (calf) and Marques Colston (non-injury) are both listed as probable against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 14. Snead was limited in practice Friday, Dec. 11, while Colston was a full participant.
Fantasy Tip: The Saints should have to throw often in what's expected to be a high-scoring affair. Snead ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) missed last week and had cooled off before that, but he's still more attractive as a sleeper pick than Colston ($2,600, 5.2% of cap), who hasn't had more than three catches in a game since Nov. 1.
Thu, 10 Dec 2015 16:04:03 -0800
New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (calf) is feeling good after returning to the practice field this week after he sat out in Week 13. "Coach thought it would be good to take a week. I benefitted from that. I feel good right now," Snead said. WR Brandon Coleman had four catches for 73 yards and aa touchdown in Snead's place last weekend.
Fantasy Tip: Brandin Cooks suffered a concussion in practice Thursday and is now doubtful against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That puts Snead ($3,400, 6.8% of cap), Coleman ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) and Marques Colston ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) in prime sleeper territory. Snead is your most attractive as a value pick, but Coleman and Colston could also return huge profit.
Thu, 10 Dec 2015 15:47:19 -0800
New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (calf) was limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 10.
Fantasy Tip: Snead ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) missed last week's game with the calf injury, but what's encouraging is that he's at least practicing. Still, you should keep track of his status over the next few days to see if there's an upgrade. If he plays, he's worth at least a flex start on FantasyScore, especially with Brandin Cooks possibly sidelined.
Wed, 09 Dec 2015 15:37:54 -0800
New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (calf) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Dec. 9.
Fantasy Tip: Snead ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) missed last week's game while dealing with the calf injury. The encouraging thing is that he at least practiced, but really keep track of his status over the next few days to see if there's an upgrade. If he plays, he's worth at least a flex start against an average Tampa Bay pass defense.
Sun, 06 Dec 2015 12:29:34 -0800
New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (calf) has been declared inactive for the Week 13 game against the Carolina Panthers.
Fantasy Tip: Bradin Cooks ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) and Marques Colston ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) should receive a majority of the targets during the game but will be facing a solid Panthers defense. Cooks should still be a starting option, but owners can pass on Colston.
Sun, 06 Dec 2015 12:20:59 -0800
The New Orleans Saints have declared CB Damian Swann, LB Dannell Ellerbe, QB Garrett Grayson, OG Jahri Evans, DL John Jenkins, DL Phillip Hunt, WR Willie Snead inactive for Week 13.
Fri, 04 Dec 2015 14:54:19 -0800
New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (calf) did not practice Friday, Dec. 4, and is doubtful to suit up against the Carolina Panthers in Week 13.
Fantasy Tip: The Panthers are all-around a nasty defense and will give the Saints fits in the passing game. Brandin Cooks ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) and Marques Colston ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) will see more targets likely, but both are tough calls to start on FantasyScore in this matchup.
Thu, 03 Dec 2015 15:45:23 -0800
New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (calf) has previously missed practices with a knee injury but has yet to miss a game this year. However, his calf injury is new this week.
Fantasy Tip: There is plenty of reason to be skeptical about using Snead ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) on FantasyScore. For one, he might not even be able to play and could be a game-time decision in a late game. On top of that, the Carolina Panthers are a terrible matchup for receivers.
Thu, 03 Dec 2015 11:48:29 -0800
New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (calf) was out of practice Thursday, Dec. 3.
Fantasy Tip: Snead ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) has a tough matchup against the Carolina Panthers if he suits up, and he's not the best flyer on FantasyScore this week.
Wed, 02 Dec 2015 16:48:23 -0800
New Orleans Saints WRs Marques Colston (non-injury) and Willie Snead (calf) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 2.
Fantasy Tip: Unfortunately for Colston ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) and Snead ($3,400, 6.8%), the Carolina Panthers have been one of the better fantasy defenses against wide receivers this year. Snead has more upside than Colston, but neither of these guys should be at the top of your FantasyScore priority list.
Fri, 27 Nov 2015 13:39:32 -0800
New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 27, and is listed as probable for the Week 12 game against the Houston Texans.
Fantasy Tip: Snead ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) should have a decent role in the passing game against the Texans this week. He was shut out in the last game but posted 165 yards and two touchdowns in the previous two games. Snead will be facing a tough Texans defense but could be a cheaper option for owners on FantasyScore.
Thu, 26 Nov 2015 16:05:57 -0800
New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (knee) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Nov. 26.
Fantasy Tip: Snead ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) has a decent matchup against the Houston Texans this week, and his still at a relatively cheap price on FantasyScore, so don't overlook him this weekend.
Wed, 25 Nov 2015 14:22:38 -0800
New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (knee) participated fully in practice Wednesday, Nov. 25.
Fantasy Tip: The Houston Texans have been better than average against wide receiver this year, so expectations should be tempered somewhat for Snead ($3,400, 6.8% of cap). He's still worth a start on FantasyScore, especially at a relatively cheap price.
Fri, 13 Nov 2015 15:55:05 -0800
New Orleans Saints WRs Willie Snead (knee) and Marques Colston (non-injury) are listed as probable for Week 10 against the Washington Redskins. Snead was limited in practice Friday, Nov. 13, while Colston was a full participant.
Fantasy Tip: Snead ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) is the much better value play on FantasyScore in a PPR format; he has at least seven targets in the last three weeks and has back-to-back weeks of six catches. Colston ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) is a sleeper play in a flex spot against a Washington secondary that can be exploited by Drew Brees.
Thu, 12 Nov 2015 16:35:35 -0800
New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (knee) did not practice Thursday, Nov. 12.
Fantasy Tip: This is disconcerting since Snead ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) had a limited practice yesterday. He will need to be monitored before Sunday's game, but it's never a good sign to be downgraded before the weekend. If Snead sits this weekend, Colston ($3,300, 6.6%) would ideally see more targets and could make for a nice sleeper on FantasyScore.
Wed, 11 Nov 2015 16:29:47 -0800
New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (knee) was limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 11.
Fantasy Tip: Snead ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) was limited in practice last week as well but still played against the Buccaneers. As for his matchup this week, the Washington Redskins have been quite accommodating to wide receivers this year, so Snead should be in the mix for FantasyScore lineups if he plays.
Fri, 06 Nov 2015 15:25:45 -0800
New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (knee) was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 6, and is listed as probable for the Week 9 game against the Tennessee Titans.
Fantasy Tip: Snead ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) is coming off a two-touchdown performance and has caught at least five passes in four of his last six games. Snead could be a solid starting option for owners on FantasyScore.
Thu, 05 Nov 2015 16:44:59 -0800
New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (knee) was limited in practice Thursday, Nov. 5.
Fantasy Tip: Snead ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) should be monitored going into the weekend, but the silver lining here is that he has practiced two days in a row. He's still relatively cheap on FantasyScore, so don't completely ignore him because of the knee issue.
Wed, 04 Nov 2015 15:30:20 -0800
New Orleans Saints WRs Willie Snead (knee) and Marques Colston (non-injury) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 4.
Fantasy Tip: Colston ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) was probably just given the day off, and the extent of Snead's knee injury was not clear. Snead ($4,400, 8.8%), specifically, should be tracked as the week continues. Saints' receivers do face a tough test in the Tennessee Titans, who have only yielded 1,017 yards to the position through seven games -- ranking sixth in the league.
Sun, 01 Nov 2015 19:17:18 -0800
New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead carried seven times for 76 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the Week 8 game against the New York Giants. He was targeted eight times.
Fantasy Tip: Snead ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) has emerged as a strong low-end WR2 or must-start WR3 in FantasyScore, but be careful with a difficult matchup in Week 9 against a tough Tennessee Titans pass defense.
Sun, 11 Oct 2015 17:48:54 -0700
New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead had six catches for a team-high 141 yards in a 39-17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 5.
Fantasy Tip: Snead ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has seen his role grow all year, and he followed an 89-yard performance with an even bigger effort in Week 5. He is worth adding in seasonal leagues if he is available, and he could make a solid source of cap relief at FantasyScore.
Mon, 05 Oct 2015 07:54:59 -0700
New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead played 48 snaps (66% of the offense) Sunday, Oct. 4, in Week 4, while WR Brandon Coleman played just 19 for 26% of the offense.
Fantasy Tip: Snead ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) had six grabs for 89 yards and could be a decent FantasyScore flyer in Week 5 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Sun, 04 Oct 2015 22:34:07 -0700
New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead posted six receptions for 89 yards in the Week 4 game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Fantasy Tip: Snead ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) has quickly emerged as a favorite target of Drew Brees, and he is a decent low-end FantasyScore option at this price level.
Sun, 30 Aug 2015 18:50:05 -0700
