Saints | Willie Snead puts in limited practice

Wed, 18 Oct 2017 14:18:20 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (hamstring) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, Oct. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Snead didn't play much in his return from a suspension and injury last week. It could take a little more time for him to get back to 100 percent, but he should not be dropped by any means. He can be started as a flex if there are not better plays on your roster, but lower your expectations.

Saints | Willie Snead logged 21 snaps in Week 6

Wed, 18 Oct 2017 11:14:55 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead played in only 21-of-71 snaps in a Week 6 victory over the Detroit Lions.

Fantasy Tip: Snead hinted last week he would get worked back into the mix slowly and that is exactly what happened. It would seem the lack of playing time was in an effort to allow him to fully recover from his hamstring injury than to further punish him for his three-game PED suspension to begin the season. Either way, expect him to double his snaps in Week 7 against the Green Bay Packers before taking on his usual workload in Week 8. Owners are advised to keep him on the bench one more week.

Saints | Willie Snead doesn't do much

Sun, 15 Oct 2017 18:04:02 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead posted one catch for 11 yards on three targets in Week 6 game against the Detroit Lions.

Fantasy Tip: Snead finally made his return after a three-game suspension and then a hamstring injury. It wasn't an impressive start. He'll look for better results in Week 7 in Green Bay, but for now he is only worth keeping on your roster for depth. Wait for him to knock off the rust in another game or two before relying on him as a starter.

Sun, 15 Oct 2017 08:58:02 -0700

Updating a previous report, New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (hamstring) is active for Week 6's game against the Detroit Lions.

Fantasy Tip: Snead practiced on a limited basis throughout the week and was listed as questionable on the injury report. He is likely to see a limited number of snaps this afternoon, so he should not be viewed as a great option in any fantasy format.

Sun, 15 Oct 2017 06:41:28 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (hamstring) is a game-time decision for Week 6's game against the Detroit Lions.

Fantasy Tip: Snead was a limited practice participant throughout the week and was listed as questionable on the injury report. Even if he plays, he is likely to see a limited number of snaps this afternoon, so he should be avoided unless you have multiple receivers on bye weeks.

Saints | Willie Snead listed as limited

Thu, 12 Oct 2017 15:38:22 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (hamstring) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Snead is being eased into the offense and probably will see limited snaps if he plays this week. Owners may want to avoid Snead this week, but he should have some fantasy value during the second half of the season.

Saints | Willie Snead being eased in

Thu, 12 Oct 2017 06:48:58 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead said the team is easing him back in the fold this week after missing three games due to suspension, a week for a hamstring injury and the team's bye week. "Right now, they're throwing me back in there slowly," Snead said. "And I think once this week goes by and I'm able to handle what they're giving me, I think my role will grow more and more every week."

Fantasy Tip: Those comments resonate as he appears to be fourth fiddle behind Michael Thomas, Ted Ginn Jr. and Brandon Coleman. Snead should be avoided this week unless you have several players on a bye.

Saints | Willie Snead draws limited status

Wed, 11 Oct 2017 14:32:19 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (hamstring) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 11.

Fantasy Tip: This week marks the first time this year that Snead will take the field for an actual game. There's always risk involved in starting anyone who has been out of action for a long time, but Snead deserves at least flex consideration in what is expected to be a high-scoring affair with the Detroit Lions.

Saints | Willie Snead healed up

Wed, 11 Oct 2017 07:59:06 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (hamstring) has recovered from his hamstring injury, according to head coach Sean Payton.

Fantasy Tip: It remains to be seen how much of a factor he'll be in the offense. We should have a better gauge after the week of practice, but he could be a flex option against the Detroit Lions.

Saints | Willie Snead officially out

Sun, 01 Oct 2017 05:33:24 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (hamstring) will not play Sunday, Oct. 1, against the Miami Dolphins.

Fantasy Tip: Ted Ginn and Brandon Coleman should be more involved in the Snead's absence, as we've seen for the first three games while he was suspended. Miami is shuffling up its backend with cornerback Byron Maxwell's benching, which bodes well for continuity errors in the Saints' favor. Ginn is a WR3 and Coleman a deep flier.

Saints | Willie Snead questionable for Week 4

Fri, 29 Sep 2017 16:10:17 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (hamstring) was limited during practice and is listed as questionable for Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to check the inactive list to see if Snead will play in Week 4. He has missed the first three games, so he may be eased back into the lineup. Snead will be a risky option since it would be his 2017 debut, so owners may want to see him in a game before placing him in their lineups.

Saints | Willie Snead practicing

Fri, 29 Sep 2017 06:10:31 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead took part in team drills Friday, Sept. 29.

Fantasy Tip: Snead did individual work Wednesday and Thursday, and it seems far-fetched to expect him to be a big factor in the gameplan against the Miami Dolphins. He'll be a better flex option after next week's bye.

Saints | Willie Snead does individual work

Thu, 28 Sep 2017 06:20:59 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead practiced on an adjacent field from the team portions Thursday, Sept. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Snead doesn't appear to be a big part of the gameplan this week, and it might be best to hold off starting him until after their Week 5 bye.

Saints | Willie Snead returns to practice

Wed, 27 Sep 2017 12:58:39 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead was back on the practice field Wednesday, Sept. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Snead's three-game suspension to start the season has come to a conclusion and he is eligible to play. He will give the team another potent option on offense, and QB Drew Brees said Snead, "looked good." He is worth stashing away as a WR4 in most fantasy leagues, but let him knock off the rust before trusting him in the active lineup.

Saints | Willie Snead workload unknown

Wed, 27 Sep 2017 05:56:42 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead's workload in Week 4 will be determined after head coach Sean Payton sees how Snead handles this week of practice, Payton said.

Fantasy Tip: Snead can be a WR2 possibility, but he'll probably need until after their Week 5 bye to hit full speed. He's a flex possibility against the Miami Dolphins this week, but there are safer options.

Saints | Willie Snead back with club

Tue, 26 Sep 2017 23:38:25 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead has finished serving his three-game suspension and is eligible to play in Week 4 against the Miami Dolphins. The Saints will need to make a move to bring Snead onto the active roster.

Fantasy Tip: If Snead, who averaged 71 receptions, 940 yards and 3.5 TDs over his first two seasons, slipped through the cracks on draft day he'd be worth picking up. For Week 4, however, it'd be best to adopt a cautious approach to see if he accumulated any rust during his sabbatical.

Saints | Willie Snead suspended three games

Fri, 01 Sep 2017 15:19:52 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead has been suspended three games for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.

Fantasy Tip: The suspension will hurt Snead's fantasy value but he will still be valuable when he returns in Week 4. Owners can still consider him a No. 3 receiver in fantasy leagues but will need a replacement for the first three weeks.

Saints | Willie Snead misses practice

Mon, 28 Aug 2017 19:23:42 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (undisclosed) did not participate in practice Monday, Aug. 28.

Fantasy Tip: The reason for Snead's absence is unknown, so owners will need to keep an eye out for a possible injury. He is expected to receive a bigger role in the passing game with Brandin Cooks no longer on the team. Snead could be considered a No. 3 receiver in most fantasy leagues.

Saints | Willie Snead back at practice

Mon, 07 Aug 2017 19:15:36 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (undisclosed) was a full participant during practice Monday, Aug. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Snead should receive a bigger role in the passing game with Brandin Cooks moving to the New England Patriots. He has recorded 1,879 receiving yards over the last two seasons and can be a No. 3 receiver for fantasy owners this season.

Saints | Willie Snead out of practice

Fri, 04 Aug 2017 08:03:24 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (undisclosed) is out of practice Friday, Aug. 4, for an unspecified reason.

Fantasy Tip: Mark Ingram and John Kuhn left after the walkthrough, likely as a day of rest, and the same could be true for Snead. Keep tabs on him through the weekend to be certain. Snead is in the low-end WR2, high-end WR3 range in fantasy.

Saints | Willie Snead wants to be deep threat

Thu, 27 Jul 2017 14:51:37 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead is focused on becoming more of a deep threat this season rather than his potential long-term contract. Snead has worked on his back-end speed this offseason and may have more opportunities down the field with New England Patriots WR Brandin Cooks gone.

Fantasy Tip: Snead is seemingly underrated heading into a season in which he figures to have plenty of targets alongside Michael Thomas. If Snead can become a consistent downfield threat, he has low-end WR2 to high-end WR3 upside in an up-tempo offense.

Saints | Willie Snead signs tender

Mon, 24 Jul 2017 14:30:23 -0700

New Orleans Saints restricted free-agent WR Willie Snead signed his $615,000 tender Monday, July 24, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Snead is arguably one of the most underrated wide receivers in the NFL, especially so since Brandin Cooks is now in New England. Snead has more upside in PPR leagues and deserves low-end WR2 to high-end WR3 consideration in such formats.

Saints | Willie Snead won't hold out

Mon, 24 Jul 2017 10:45:05 -0700

New Orleans Saints exclusive rights free-agent WR Willie Snead said he'll report to camp Thursday, July 27, despite his desire for a new contract.

Fantasy Tip: Snead is on the cusp in fantasy, and with Brandin Cooks gone, this could be the year. He has a lot of upside as a WR3.

Saints | Willie Snead hopeful for deal before season

Wed, 14 Jun 2017 22:08:06 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead is optimistic that he'll have a long-term deal with the club before the new season begins. "I think the guys upstairs are working on it," Snead said. "I'm hopeful, and I just have to keep worrying about myself and staying healthy and doing all the right things. I know it's going to be handled, it's going to take time, but I feel like we'll get it done sooner or later."

Fantasy Tip: Just as the Saints would be wise to lock up Snead for the long term as soon as possible, fantasy owners might want to think about doing the same with the third-year wide-out for the upcoming campaign. Although he's only recorded seven touchdowns across 30 games in his two seasons, Snead has been a force, accumulating 141 catches for 1,879 yards over that span. With Brandin Cooks no longer in New Orleans, Snead could produce his best season yet.

Saints | Willie Snead still has not signed

Sun, 07 May 2017 16:40:45 -0700

New Orleans Saints exclusive rights free-agent WR Willie Snead still has not signed his tender offer but is not allowed to sign with another team.

Fantasy Tip: Snead likely is looking for a long-term with a bigger salary than the $615,000 he would make in 2017 if he signs his tender. Snead should have a bigger role in the passing game with Brandin Cooks no longer on the team. He recorded 895 yards and four touchdowns this past season and should be considered a No. 3 receiver in fantasy leagues.

Saints | Willie Snead present for OTAs

Mon, 17 Apr 2017 14:05:34 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead participated in organized team activities Monday, April 17, despite not yet signing his exclusive rights tender. Snead is not permitted to sign with any other team as the Saints did offer him the required one-year tender worth $615,000.

Fantasy Tip: Snead took somewhat of a backseat to Brandin Cooks and Michael Thomas last year, but he may be called on more in 2017 with Cooks gone. Snead has quietly produced just under 1,900 yards in his two season with the Saints. He's an under-the-radar flex consideration in standard leagues.

Saints | Willie Snead tendered

Tue, 07 Mar 2017 08:02:52 -0800

New Orleans Saints restricted free-agent WR Willie Snead was tendered Tuesday, Feb. 7. Terms weren't disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: Snead had a 72-895-4 season in 2016, and he has some upside with Brandin Cooks being bandied about on the trade market. Snead is a shaky WR3 target, and he's a better WR4 if possible.

Saints | Willie Snead to receive tender

Mon, 06 Mar 2017 15:20:35 -0800

New Orleans Saints exclusive rights free-agent WR Willie Snead will receive a tender offer this offseason, but his agent said he hopes to talk with the team about a bigger salary in 2017 or a long-term deal.

Fantasy Tip: Snead is coming off a solid season where he recorded 895 yards and four touchdowns. He could have a bigger role in the passing game if the Saints decide to trade Brandin Cooks this offseason. Owners in most fantasy leagues could consider Snead as a No. 3 or No. 4 receiver next season.

Saints | Willie Snead checks out early

Sun, 01 Jan 2017 22:30:03 -0800

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (concussion) left the Week 17 game against the Atlanta Falcons due to a concussion.

Fantasy Tip: Snead wrapped up the season with 72 catches, 895 yards and four scores. He was the tertiary receiving option behind Michael Thomas and Drew Brees, but he still was a solid WR4 in most fantasy leagues. That role will continue into 2017.

Saints | Willie Snead posts low numbers in Week 16

Sun, 25 Dec 2016 15:32:19 -0800

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead caught two passes for 21 yards against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: Snead has received a lot of targets this season but has been held to under 40 yards in four of his last six games. Snead can still be considered a flex option since he is part of one of the better passing offenses in the NFL, but owners could also bench him if they have better options.

Sun, 18 Dec 2016 22:00:13 -0800

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead racked up eight receptions for 76 yards on 11 targets in the Week 15 game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: Snead has re-emerged as a solid WR3 in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams, posting 14 grabs for 161 yards on 19 targets in the past two games.

Saints | Willie Snead targeted eight times

Sun, 11 Dec 2016 22:53:03 -0800

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead posted six receptions for a game-high 85 yards on eight targets in the Week 14 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fantasy Tip: Snead filled in admirably with Michael Thomas on the mend. If Thomas continues to miss time Snead could re-emerge as a useful WR3 in most fantasy leagues.

Saints | Willie Snead engages in razzle-dazzle

Sun, 27 Nov 2016 15:01:27 -0800

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead threw a 50-yard touchdown pass to RB Tim Hightower in a 49-21 win over the Los Angeles Rams.

Fantasy Tip: Snead caught five passes for 38 yards, so if it hadn't been for that razzle-dazzle touchdown pass Snead would have had a bad day. Don't count on this play happening too much more, but Snead is ordinarily a decent threat for fantasy points. Snead is one of Drew Brees' many targets, so his numbers may go up and down.

Saints | Willie Snead excels at home

Sun, 13 Nov 2016 15:20:36 -0800

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead finished with five catches, 47 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a 25-23 loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday, Nov. 13.

Fantasy Tip: It was a good day for Saints receivers, what with Brandin Cooks' touchdown and 98 yards receiving. Snead is a sleeper receiver in that he has a good game very often and is one of Drew Brees' secondary targets. Keep Snead in mind as one of your lesser receivers.

Saints | Six grabs for Willie Snead

Sun, 30 Oct 2016 17:53:36 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead hauled in six receptions for 56 yards on eight targets in the Week 8 game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Fantasy Tip: Snead struggled with a toe injury from late September to mid-October, but it appears he is back to health. Over his past two games he has 15 receptions on 19 targets, totaling 143 yards. He remains a solid WR3 in most standard leagues, and a decent low-end WR2 in PPR formats.

Saints | Willie Snead hauls in nine balls

Sun, 23 Oct 2016 20:34:09 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead racked up nine receptions for 87 yards on 11 targets in the Week 7 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Fantasy Tip: Snead bounced back after a couple of subpar outings, and he might finally be back to 100 percent after battling a toe injury for the past few weeks. He has low-end WR2 ability when the matchup is favorable, but he faces a tough matchup when the Seattle Seahawks visit in Week 8. Treat him as more of a low-end WR3 for that one.

Saints | Willie Snead very average again

Sun, 16 Oct 2016 17:22:06 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead managed four receptions for 47 yards in the Week 6 game against the Carolina Panthers. He was targeted seven times.

Fantasy Tip: Snead got off to a hot start and appeared to be No. 2 in the pecking order before suffering a toe injury which sent him to the inactive list. Since the injury, he has been bypassed by rookie Michael Thomas for the No. 2 job. While Snead is still worth keeping on a fantasy roster, he is more of a low-end WR3 in most formats.

Saints | Willie Snead ready to play

Sun, 02 Oct 2016 12:47:40 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (toe) is officially active for the team's Week 4 game.

Fantasy Tip: Snead should receive his normal workload and will see a good amount of targets during the game. He can be a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver in most fantasy leagues.

Sun, 02 Oct 2016 06:40:40 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (toe) is expected to play in Week 4's game against the San Diego Chargers, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: As an integral part of the New Orleans passing game, Snead should be viewed as a low-end WR2 or high-end WR3 this week, although he is facing a decent San Diego secondary and it is uncertain if he will see a limited number of snaps.

Fri, 30 Sep 2016 13:11:46 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (toe) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 30, and is listed as questionable for Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to check the inactive list to see if Snead will be able to play. He should be a solid No. 2 or No. 3 receiver for fantasy owners if he plays, but owners will need other options ready in case he is ruled out.

Saints | Willie Snead still limited

Thu, 29 Sep 2016 14:49:48 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (toe) was limited in practice again Thursday, Sept. 29.

Fantasy Tip: Snead has had plenty of time to rest after missing Week 3, so keep an eye on if he's upgraded or not in the next few days. If he does play, he's an automatic start in the Saints' pass-happy offense. That being said, Jason Verrett and Casey Hayward are two of the best cornerbacks in the NFL, and Snead may be limited, so expectations should be mildly tempered.

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (toe) was limited during practice Wednesday, Sept. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Snead was not able to play in the last game because of the injury, so owners will need to keep an eye on the situation. Snead is a main part of the passing game when he is healthy and can be a starting option for owners if he is active for the game.

Saints | Willie Snead inactive

Mon, 26 Sep 2016 16:18:48 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (toe) has been declared inactive for the team's Week 3 game.

Fantasy Tip: Michael Thomas should receive more playing time with Snead out. Coby Fleener likely will also see more targets in the passing game. Thomas should be considered a No. 3 receiver or a flex option in deeper leagues, while Fleener can be a starting tight end for fantasy owners.

Saints | Willie Snead ruled out for Week 3

Mon, 26 Sep 2016 09:13:27 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (toe) will not play Monday, Sept. 26, against the Atlanta Falcons after missing most of the team's practices leading up to the Week 3 finale with a toe injury.

Fantasy Tip: Snead missed practice on Thursday and Friday before getting a limited session in on Saturday, so this news isn't entirely unexpected. Rookie Michael Thomas and Coby Fleener should be more involved than usual in a plus-matchup, while Travaris Cadet and Mark Ingram could see a bit more work in the passing game as well.

Sat, 24 Sep 2016 13:27:25 -0700

Updating a previous report, New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (toe) was limited during practice Saturday, Sept. 24, and is listed as questionable for Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Snead will be a risky option for owners this week since he will be a game-time decision and plays on Monday Night Football. Owners may want to consider other options because there will not be many other options available Monday, Sept. 26, if he is ruled out.

Sat, 24 Sep 2016 12:26:26 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (toe) said he will be a game-time decision for the team's Week 3 game. He hopes to play but indicated that head coach Sean Payton will decide on his status.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to check the inactive list to see if Snead will be able to play. He has started the season strong but will be a risky option in fantasy leagues since he plays on Monday Night Football. Owners may want to use other options in their lineups instead of hoping that Snead plays.
