Bills | Kelvin Benjamin posts just two grabs

Sun, 17 Dec 2017 16:56:10 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin ended up with two grabs for 20 yards on his two targets in Week 15 against the Miami Dolphins.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin is back from a knee injury, but he is still basically trying to figure out the playbook and jell with Tyrod Taylor at the same time as he works his way back into game shape. In other words, fantasy owners shouldn't expect him to be terribly effective until 2018, when he has a full offseason to work with his new teammates.

Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) is officially active for the team's Week 15 game.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin has not had a lot of time with Tyrod Taylor this season but should still see some targets in the passing game. He could be a flex option in some deeper leagues but can be avoided in most leagues.

Sun, 17 Dec 2017 06:55:36 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) is hopeful of playing in Week 15's game against the Miami Dolphins.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin was listed as questionable on the injury report after serving as a limited participant in all three practice sessions during the week. He hasn't done much since joining the Bills and should be viewed as nothing more than a flex candidate in deeper seasonal fantasy leagues.

Bills | Kelvin Benjamin remains limited

Thu, 14 Dec 2017 12:36:23 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) was limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin was the only receiver of note in the snowstorm game last week, but he can't be counted on for continued success. Assuming he plays, Benjamin is merely a dart throw as a flex against an improving Miami Dolphins secondary.

Bills | Kelvin Benjamin still under evaluation

Mon, 11 Dec 2017 10:22:06 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) is "still being evaluated" in regards to the right knee injury he aggravated in Week 14 against the Indianapolis Colts.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin just returned from a torn meniscus on the same knee, so he's looking pretty unlikely for the Miami Dolphins in Week 15. Prior to his departure, he managed three catches for 38 yards and a touchdown in the blizzard-like conditions in Buffalo, displaying some of the high-point ability that made him so attractive to Buffalo in the first place. If Benjamin is ruled out for Week 15 but can play in Week 16, he'd be in the WR3 conversation against the New England Patriots.

Bills | Kelvin Benjamin finds end zone

Sun, 10 Dec 2017 14:41:08 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) caught three passes for 38 yards and one touchdown against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 14 before he left with a knee injury.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin just came back from a knee injury, so owners should look for an update on Benjamin in the near future. He could be a No. 3 receiver or flex option when Nathan Peterman is the starter because they have developed good chemistry but will be a riskier option if Tyrod Taylor starts.

Sun, 10 Dec 2017 12:28:58 -0800

Fri, 08 Dec 2017 16:50:37 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 8, and is not on the injury report for Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin appears like he is on track to play this week after being sidelined for most of the time since joining the Bills. Owners probably should avoid Benjamin because he has not received much work in the Bills offense.

Bills | Buffalo optimistic about Kelvin Benjamin

Fri, 08 Dec 2017 09:08:59 -0800

Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott feels "really good" about the likelihood of WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) playing in Week 14 against the Indianapolis Colts.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin suffered a torn meniscus on his first and only catch in Week 11 against the Los Angeles Chargers and has been sidelined since. His fantasy viability this weekend depends largely on the identity of his quarterback, which remains a mystery due to the fact Tyrod Taylor figures to be a game-time decision. Owners should treat Benjamin as a low-floor, high-upside WR3.

Bills | Kelvin Benjamin takes part in practice

Thu, 07 Dec 2017 13:02:30 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin appears to have a chance to play in Week 14, so owners will need to monitor his progress. He is a risky option since he has not had a lot of work in the offense since joining the Bills and can be benched if owners have better options.

Bills | Kelvin Benjamin limited Wednesday

Wed, 06 Dec 2017 12:12:22 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) was limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin has done nothing since being traded to Buffalo. With his recent injuries and the way the Bills have been playing offensively, there's no good reason to put Benjamin into starting lineups.

Bills | Kelvin Benjamin likely to return to practice

Mon, 04 Dec 2017 11:30:27 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) appears to be on the right track to return to practice after missing the past two weeks with a torn meniscus in his knee, according to head coach Sean McDermott.

Fantasy Tip: As luck would have it, Benjamin will likely return to a great Week 14 matchup with the Indianapolis Colts, but it is unclear whether or not Tyrod Taylor will be healthy enough to throw him the ball as he battles his own knee injury. Either way, it is good news for owners, who should be able to count on WR3 production from Benjamin at the very least if he can stay healthy the rest of the way.

Panthers | Devin Funchess thriving

Sat, 02 Dec 2017 19:38:01 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess has recorded at least 86 receiving yards in all three games since WR Kelvin Benjamin was traded to the Buffalo Bills, and he is averaging 8.3 targets per game in that span.

Fantasy Tip: Funchess has come into his own since Benjamin was traded away, and he is an upside WR3 in Week 13 against a New Orleans Saints team that could be missing its top corner.

Bills | Kelvin Benjamin ruled out

Fri, 01 Dec 2017 07:26:22 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) has been ruled out for Week 13, but he could return next week.

Wed, 29 Nov 2017 17:59:51 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) said he does not expect to play in Week 13 but believes he will be able to play again this season.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to monitor the situation to see when Benjamin returns to practice. Zay Jones probably will be the main receiver for the Bills while Benjamin is out and could be a flex option in deeper leagues.

Bills | Kelvin Benjamin does not practice

Wed, 29 Nov 2017 13:19:31 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 29.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin is dealing with a torn meniscus and considered day to day. It doesn't sound like he'll practice an awful lot, and he is a question mark for game day at this point. He isn't a bad option for fantasy owners when healthy, but have depth on hand since he is so iffy.

Bills | Kelvin Benjamin has torn meniscus

Mon, 27 Nov 2017 11:23:27 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) has a torn meniscus, according to head coach Sean McDermott. As reported earlier, Benjamin is considered day-to-day.

Fantasy Tip: It's hard to believe Benjamin can be day-to-day with a torn meniscus, but hey, football players are tough. If Benjamin can't play this week -- and don't be surprised if he can't -- then Zay Jones becomes a nice flex option again after seeing 10 targets and finding the end zone yesterday.

Bills | Kelvin Benjamin day-to-day

Mon, 27 Nov 2017 10:22:31 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) is considered day-to-day and "working hard" in order to return for Week 13 versus the New England Patriots, according to head coach Sean McDermott.

Fantasy Tip: Even with the emergence of rookie Zay Jones, Buffalo likely needs Benjamin if it has any hope of staying with the Patriots. New England isn't the soft matchup for opposing passing games it was earlier in the season, but Benjamin's size makes him an inviting target for most quarterbacks. If he is cleared to play before Sunday, owners should be use Benjamin as a WR3.

Bills | Kelvin Benjamin a no-go for Week 12

Sat, 25 Nov 2017 08:56:38 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) did not travel with the team and has been ruled out for Week 12 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin did not practice all week, so this was an expected decision. Zay Jones has come on in recent weeks and is in a good spot to produce again this week, given the plus-matchup. Jones has seen seven targets in each of the last two games and caught ten passes over that time, so he'll be flex-worthy in Week 12 if he can sustain that kind of production.

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) did not participate in practice Friday, Nov. 24, and is listed as questionable for Week 12.

Bills | Kelvin Benjamin's Week 12 status up in air

Fri, 24 Nov 2017 10:31:19 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) is listed as questionable on the injury report for Week 12 versus the Kansas City Chiefs.

Fantasy Tip: It's more likely than not Benjamin will sit out Week 12 after not practicing all week. While he only has four catches for 62 yards since arriving in Buffalo, he sat out the first week after joining the team about two days before a Thursday game, and he was sidelined for the game early last week after taking a hit to his knee on his first catch. His absence should create an opportunity for Zay Jones to be relevant in fantasy for a third straight game.

Bills | Kelvin Benjamin remains uncertain

Fri, 24 Nov 2017 07:12:10 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) remains day to day Friday, Nov. 24, and his status is uncertain for Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin would have a great matchup against a banged-up Kansas City Chiefs secondary, which is in the bottom five at defending the position the last five weeks. He'd be a WR3 in fantasy if he's fit to go. If not, Zay Jones receives a big boost to maybe the top portion of the WR3 realm.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin is considered day-to-day and could be a game-time decision for Week 12. He is a risky option because of the injury and that he has not received a lot of work in the offense. Owners may want to avoid him this week even if he is active for the game.

Bills | Kelvin Benjamin in question for Week 12

Wed, 22 Nov 2017 06:57:01 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) is day to day with a knee injury, and head coach Sean McDermott was noncommittal when asked if Benjamin would play this week. He won't practice Wednesday, Nov. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Tyrod Taylor starting helps Benjamin on the field if he's able to go. However, the upside isn't there because the Bills are a mess. Benjamin is worth having as a WR3, but you really can't trust anyone beyond LeSean McCoy in that lineup.

Bills | Kelvin Benjamin avoids serious injury

Mon, 20 Nov 2017 10:30:58 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) did not suffer ligament damage to his knee in Week 11, but he is still undergoing further evaluation, according to head coach Sean McDermott.

Fantasy Tip: Even though Benjamin is a bit predisposed to getting around the knees due to his huge frame, he has been a bit unlucky in that regard this year and fortunate none of them have resulted in him missing significant time. He will be a low-end WR2 play in fantasy in Week 12 against the Kansas City Chiefs if he can make it back in time, but it will likely be a few days before we'll know if he will be cleared to play.

Bills | Kelvin Benjamin carted off

Sun, 19 Nov 2017 13:51:33 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) was carted off in the Week 11 game against the Los Angeles Chargers in the first quarter due to a knee injury and he will not return.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin was grabbing his knee after a catch over the middle and he was taken off. The team announced rather early that he would not return, so that isn't a great sign. They're already without Jordan Matthews on the afternoon, so not making it easy for new QB Nathan Peterman.

Bills | Kelvin Benjamin targeted six times

Sun, 12 Nov 2017 17:10:18 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin finished with three receptions for a team-high 42 yards on six targets in his team debut in Week 10 against the New Orleans Saints.

Fantasy Tip: The team tried to get Benjamin the ball frequently, but he didn't make the impact on offense that the team was hoping for. In fact, Buffalo had its worst game of the season as they were hammered by the visitors. He'll look for much better results in Week 11 on the road against the Chargers.

Bills | Kelvin Benjamin will be in starting lineup

Sun, 12 Nov 2017 07:27:33 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin will be one of the starting receivers against the New Orleans Saints in Week 10.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin has had about two weeks to learn the offense and likely will receive a lot of playing time this week. He is a risky option because it is not known if he will have chemistry with Tyrod Taylor but can still be considered a No. 3 receiver or a flex option in leagues.

Bills | Kelvin Benjamin will play

Fri, 10 Nov 2017 07:26:08 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin will make his team debut Sunday, Nov. 12, against the New Orleans Saints.

Fantasy Tip: Forget what you've come to know as a weak Saints defense in recent years because they've become an opportunistic, stout bunch. Benjamin has only had a week-and-a-half in the offense, and the tough matchup demotes him to the WR3 area.

Fri, 03 Nov 2017 19:04:19 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin is going to focus on learning the playbook in order to be ready to play against the New Orleans Saints in Week 10, head coach Sean McDermott said Friday, Nov. 3. "He's already been in the playbook and he's working hard," McDermott said. "He wants to be around through the weekend and get up to speed as quickly as possible."

Fantasy Tip: Once Benjamin takes the field, he should become the top option in Buffalo's passing attack. However, Buffalo's commitment to the run likely makes Benjamin an upside WR3 going forward.

Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin is "50/50" to play against the New York Jets on Thursday, Nov. 2, according to GM Brandon Beane.

Fantasy Tip: Even if Benjamin is active it's difficult to gauge how much he'd play based on only being with the club a couple of days. Your best bet is to keep him on your bench due to the uncertainty of his prospective role this week.

Bills | Kelvin Benjamin to keep same role in Buffalo

Tue, 31 Oct 2017 17:26:58 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin will remain the "X" receiver - the same spot he occupied throughout his career with the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Tip: There's almost no chance Benjamin suits up Thursday against the New York Jets, but it would be stunning if the Bills aren't featuring him in Week 10 or 11. While offensive coordinator Rick Dennison is not familiar with him, head coach Sean McDermott and general manager Brandon Beane are, so that should help him acclimate more quickly. Owners should be able to keep plugging him into their lineups as a WR2 starting in Week 10.

Tue, 31 Oct 2017 13:22:46 -0700

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin's departure means Devin Funchess is now the Panthers' No. 1 wide receiver. He receives a nice boost in fantasy value, with Russell Shepard and Curtis Samuel also gaining fantasy relevance. Funchess and Christian McCaffrey will continue to be the primary targets in Carolina, but Shepard and Samuel are worth adding in deeper leagues.

Bills | Buffalo acquires Kelvin Benjamin

Tue, 31 Oct 2017 13:17:55 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin was acquired by the Buffalo Bills Tuesday, Oct. 31, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Surprisingly, Benjamin has a new home and remains the No. 1 wide receiver on his team. Tyrod Taylor desperately needed another receiving threat, so good on the Bills for giving him that. If anything, Benjamin's fantasy value might actually increase in Buffalo since he'll be away from Cam Newton's inaccurate tendencies. The bad news is that Benjamin has exactly two days to join his new team and be ready to play Thursday night. That being said, he should still be started in a favorable matchup against the New York Jets.
