Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin posts 65 yards

Sun, 22 Oct 2017 14:51:48 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin hauled in three receptions for 65 yards on six targets in Week 7 against the Chicago Bears.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin had a pretty decent day considering the Panthers offense managed just three points, but it's not the type of production that is going to please fantasy owners. He remains more of a WR3 or flex option heading into Week 8 against the Buccaneers.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin playing

Sun, 22 Oct 2017 09:02:56 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) is officially active for the team's Week 7 game.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin has been dealing with the injury for a while but will be on the field this week. He will be a risky option since he may receive limited snaps during the game and could be considered a No. 3 receiver or flex option in some leagues.

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) is expected to play in Week 7's game against the Chicago Bears.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin likely to play Week 7

Fri, 20 Oct 2017 10:07:20 -0700

Updating a previous report, Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) is expected to play in Week 7 against the Chicago Bears, according to head coach Ron Rivera.

Fantasy Tip: Per Rivera, Benjamin had a "good day" Friday and ran all the routes, so the concern the Carolina coaching staff had regarding his status Thursday appears to no longer be an issue. Given the matchup and the fact he is probably not operating anywhere close to 100 percent, owners are advised to bench him in fantasy if they have other similar options available.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin returns to practice Friday

Fri, 20 Oct 2017 09:17:48 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) was back at practice Friday, Oct 20, sporting a sleeve on the left knee that kept him from practicing the previous two days.

Fantasy Tip: Considering how this thing is played out this week, Benjamin figures to be a game-time decision. With a difficult matchup in what should be a slow-paced slugfest with the Chicago Bears, it is advisable owners sit him down if they have other decent options going. As long as he can stay healthy, Benjamin will have a number of solid matchups over the second half of the season, so he'll be of plenty of use down the road.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin leaves practice early

Wed, 18 Oct 2017 11:52:45 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) is reportedly dealing with a knee injury that forced him to leave practice early Wednesday, Oct. 18.

Fantasy Tip: It's unknown at the moment whether or not it's the same knee he hurt in Week 3, but his early departure from practice is a small concern right now given the fact Benjamin had not appeared on the injury report over the last two weeks. If he were to miss Week 7, Devin Funchess would immediately slide into lead receiver duties and be worth starting in most leagues.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin solid on TNF

Thu, 12 Oct 2017 21:49:41 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin was targeted 13 times on Thursday, Oct. 12, catching nine for 99 yards against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin has been doing the odd-even thing this year, averaging 6.3 catches for 93 yards in Weeks 2, 4 and 6, while managing 2.3 grabs for 30 yards in the odd-numbered weeks. Fantasy owners would definitely enjoy more consistency, but Benjamin deserves to be deployed as a WR3 on a weekly basis.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin scores in Motown

Sun, 08 Oct 2017 15:31:54 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin posted four catches, 58 yards and one touchdown on six targets in Week 5 against the Detroit Lions.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin was limited in practice earlier this week due to a knee injury, but he didn't seem to be affected by the injury in this one. He has four or more catches in three of his past four outings after laying an egg in Week 1. He is a dependable WR3 or flex option heading into Week 6 against the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin not on injury report

Fri, 06 Oct 2017 14:05:05 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 6, but is not on the injury report for Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin should receive his normal workload this week even though he is dealing with the knee injury. He is coming off a 104-yard performance and is facing a Detroit Lions defense that has struggled at times against passing games. He should be considered as at least a No. 3 fantasy receiver this week.

Fri, 06 Oct 2017 12:27:31 -0700

Carolina Panthers S Kurt Coleman (knee), LB Demetrious Cox (ankle) and C Ryan Kalil (neck) did not participate in practice all week and have been ruled out for Week 5 versus the Detroit Lions. DE Mario Addison (knee) was limited in practice Friday, Oct. 6, while OT Matt Kalil (groin) and DE Julius Peppers (shoulder) did not participate; all three have been listed as questionable. LB Thomas Davis (rib), DE Charles X. Johnson (rest), C Tyler Larsen (shoulder), DT Star Lotulelei (shoulder), WR Curtis Samuel (back), RB Jonathan Stewart (rest), OG Trai Turner (knee) and CB Daryl Worley (shoulder) each participated fully in practice Friday and have been removed from the injury report. Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin limited Thursday

Thu, 05 Oct 2017 12:07:13 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 5.

Fantasy Tip: It appears that Benjamin is on track to play in Week 5, but owners will know more about his status later in the week. He has been a bit inconsistent this season in terms of his weekly stats but is coming off a 104-yard performance in Week 4. He can be a solid No. 3 fantasy receiver if he is active.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin sits out practice Wednesday

Wed, 04 Oct 2017 09:51:14 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 4.

Fantasy Tip: The Panthers are likely exercising caution here, as Benjamin did not practice last Wednesday either before being removed from the injury report Friday and catching four passes for 104 yards in Week 4 versus the New England Patriots. The Detroit Lions figure to offer more resistance, but Benjamin should be considered a high-upside WR2 in the likely event he plays in Week 5.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin over 100 yards receiving

Sun, 01 Oct 2017 16:00:46 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin caught all four targeted passes for 104 yards but did not score in a 33-30 win over the New England Patriots on Sunday, Oct. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Considering Benjamin was held down in Week 3 to only a couple catches, the porous New England defense enabled him to come through. As Cam Newton goes, so goes Benjamin, so keep an eye on Benjamin's effort in the next week or two.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin ready to roll

Fri, 29 Sep 2017 19:14:49 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) was a full participant in practice Friday, Sept. 29, and is not listed on the Week 4 injury report.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin draws a favorable matchup against the porous defense of the New England Patriots, but considering he managed just two catches for eight yards against the New Orleans Saints last week, he is far from a sure thing. Consider him an upside WR3.

WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee), LB Thomas Davis (rib), DE Charles Johnson (rest), DT Star Lotulelei (shoulder), DE Julius Peppers (rest) and Jonathan Stewart (rest) each practiced fully Friday and no longer appear on the injury report. Panthers | Full practice for Kelvin Benjamin

Thu, 28 Sep 2017 12:39:36 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin is on track to play in Week 4 and should have a solid role in the passing game against the New England Patriots. He can be considered a No. 3 or a flex option in most fantasy leagues if he is active.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin expected to play

Thu, 28 Sep 2017 11:57:21 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) is expected to play in Week 4 as long as he does not suffer a setback, according to head coach Ron Rivera.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to check on Benjamin's status later in the week to see if he is still on track to play against the New England Patriots. He has been a bit inconsistent so far this season but could still be a No. 3 receiver for fantasy owners.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin does little Wednesday

Wed, 27 Sep 2017 10:22:35 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) was limited to stretching and riding a stationary bike during practice Wednesday, Sept. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin is reportedly not dealing with a multi-week injury, but the best owners can probably hope for this week is a game-time decision. This week's opponent - the New England Patriots - has not defended receivers well thus far, but it is going to be hard to trust anyone outside of perhaps Christian McCaffrey in the Panthers' passing game one week after they struggled against a shorthanded New Orleans Saints defense. It may be prudent to play the wait-and-see game with Benjamin this week.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin receives good news

Mon, 25 Sep 2017 10:17:22 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) learned he did sustain any structural damage from the injury that forced him from Week 3 after receiving the results of an MRI on his left knee Monday, Sept. 25.

Fantasy Tip: No timetable for his return to the field has been reported yet, but it wouldn't be a surprise if he had to miss at least a game after getting bent back awkwardly early in the Week 3 loss to the New Orleans Saints. With Greg Olsen also done for a while, Devin Funchess, Curtis Samuel and Russell Shepard - along with tight end Ed Dickson - are Cam Newton's top options right now. It's a situation to avoid in fantasy.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin appears to be fine

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 15:32:11 -0700

Updating a previous report, Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) did not suffered a major injury, based on early indications, a source said Sunday, Sept. 24.

Fantasy Tip: After a scare, it appears Benjamin is expected to be fine. That is good news for a struggling Carolina offense which lost Greg Olsen (foot) to a long-term injury last week. Treat Benjamin more as a WR3 or flex option heading into Week 4 at New England, if healthy.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin nearly invisible

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 13:38:59 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin posted just two catches for eight yards on his only two targets in Week 3 against New Orleans.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin was erased by a previously suspect New Orleans pass defense before leaving early due to a knee injury. Instead of picking up his game with Greg Olsen (foot) sidelined, Benjamin took a step back and then he was hurt. If healthy, he should only be considered a WR3 heading into Week 4 at New England, and even that might be generous considering his results to date.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin will not return

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 11:51:28 -0700

Updating a previous report, Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) will not return to the team's Week 3 game.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should find out more about Benjamin's condition after the game or in the next day or two. Devin Funchess would receive a bigger role in the passing game if Benjamin misses time but is not a great fantasy option.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin injures knee

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 11:03:08 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) suffered a knee injury in Week 3 and is considered questionable to return.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to keep an eye on the situation to determine the severity of Benjamin's injury. He has dealt with injuries over the last few years but is still a starting fantasy receiver when healthy.

QB Cam Newton (shoulder, ankle) took part in a limited practice for a third straight day and is listed as questionable. WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee), DT Vernon Butler (shoulder), LB Thomas Davis (rest), DE Charles Johnson (rest), DE Julius Peppers (rest), RB Jonathan Stewart (rest) and CB Daryl Worley (knee) all participated fully in practice and have been removed from the injury report.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin full go

Thu, 21 Sep 2017 12:12:47 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) participated fully in practice Thursday, Sept. 21.

Fantasy Tip: A rule of thumb in the fantasy community over the last few years has been to start your wide receivers, and really any players, if they are playing the New Orleans Saints. With Greg Olsen gone, Benjamin has a good chance for a field day this weekend.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin returns to practice

Thu, 21 Sep 2017 09:49:25 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) returned to practice Thursday, Sept. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin has a good matchup against the New Orleans Saints this week, and the team is without TE Greg Olsen (foot) for an extended period. Benjamin should see more looks and is a good WR2 this week.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin held out of practice

Wed, 20 Sep 2017 12:20:44 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) was not a participant in practice Wednesday, Sept. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin is nursing a knee injury and faces an iffy future in Week 3. If Benjamin is unable to take the field or is limited at all then Devin Funchess and Ed Dickson become more attractive starting options against a weak New Orleans Saints defense.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin leads way in Week 2

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 15:50:16 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin hauled in six receptions for 77 yards in Week 2 against the Bills on his eight targets.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin should see even more heavy lifting in upcoming weeks, especially in the red zone, with Greg Olsen (foot) sidelined for what is believed to be a multi-week injury. Benjamin is a decent WR3 or flex play heading into Week 3 against the defensively challenged Saints.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin limited to one grab

Sun, 10 Sep 2017 19:52:44 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin was held to just one catch for 25 yards in Week 1 at San Francisco on five targets.

Fantasy Tip: Cam Newton tried to feed it into Benjamin, but they just were unable to connect down the field. As such, he was a huge disappointment as a WR2 in most fantasy leagues, especially after a big performance was expected following his torching of the 49ers in 2016. He'll try to get it right in Week 2 against Buffalo, but should be treated more as a WR3 or flex play.

Panthers | Fast start coming for Kelvin Benjamin?

Sat, 09 Sep 2017 20:20:54 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin faces the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1, and Benjamin finished with seven catches for 108 yards and two touchdowns against the 49ers in Week 2 last year.

Fantasy Tip: The cornerback position isn't exactly one of San Francisco's strengths, so Benjamin should have an opportunity for another big performance. Start him as a WR2.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin primed to excel in 2017

Tue, 05 Sep 2017 18:13:11 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin has positioned himself to have the best year of his career, according to quarterback Cam Newton. "I'm not just saying (he's going to have his best year) to blow smoke. Everything that he's done for everything, he's positioned himself to make that come into fruition," Newton said.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin has certainly had his fair share of struggles recently - his much-publicized weight gain leading into minicamp and the death of his mother in July - but he looked as good as ever in the preseason and vows to dedicate "every snap, every play" to his mother. Facing perhaps the softest schedule of any receiver in the league, Benjamin has the feel of a high-end WR1 in 2017.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin catches four passes

Thu, 24 Aug 2017 20:22:44 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin caught four passes for 36 yards and one touchdown in the preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars Thursday, Aug. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin appears to be in shape this season and should continue to be the team's top receiver. He has recorded at least 941 yards in his two full seasons in the NFL and has 16 touchdowns in 32 games. Owners should consider Benjamin as a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver in fantasy leagues.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin checks in at 243 pounds

Tue, 01 Aug 2017 09:29:49 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin reported to training camp at 243 pounds - according to head coach Ron Rivera - after reportedly weighing "about 270" in April, per Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer.

Fantasy Tip: His current weight puts him at about the same weight he was as a rookie and obviously leaves him in a much better position to rebound from last season's disappointing campaign. It remains to be seen how much of a change Carolina's new offensive philosophy will affect his fantasy impact, but his status as the team's top wide receiver is not in question. For now, consider him a low-end WR2 with upside.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin at a good weight

Tue, 25 Jul 2017 13:53:21 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin is where he needs to be regarding his weight, according to head coach Ron Rivera.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin is one of the bigger receivers in the league and has more of a tight end's physique. That size helps him gain big yards and touchdowns, though. In the two seasons he's played, Benjamin averaged 974.5 yards and eight touchdowns. Give him a look as a WR2.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin's size an asset

Sat, 24 Jun 2017 19:42:59 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin's weight was never an issue, according to general manager Dave Gettleman, and Gettleman said Benjamin doesn't need to be fast to be effective. "Kelvin's speed is vertical," Gettleman said. "He makes it up in a different way. (His) ability to make people miss is to run through them."

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin can be a matchup nightmare, especially in the red zone, but big games tend to be sporadic. He has WR2 upside if he can find some consistency, but it is safer to draft him as a WR3.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin back in shape

Mon, 19 Jun 2017 09:11:56 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin appears to have worked himself back in shape, in the opinion of beat writer Joseph Person. Head coach Ron Rivera said that Benjamin didn't weigh the reported 280 pounds in April, but he might have been 270 pounds. On the final day of minicamp, Benjamin reached down to catch a pass a couple of inches off the ground and got both feet inbounds.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin appears to have received the wake-up call, but this appears to be an issue that could be an ongoing thing. He has low-end WR2 prowess in fantasy, but he's safer as a WR3.

Panthers | Coach defends Kelvin Benjamin

Thu, 25 May 2017 18:22:04 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin has been facing unfair criticism, according to head coach Ron Rivera, and Rivera said Benjamin has "looked great" on the field.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin reportedly arrived at OTAs overweight and not in the best shape, but he hasn't had a history of weight issues. His size makes him a touch matchup, especially in the red zone, and Benjamin can be drafted as a low-end WR2.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin trying to shape up

Mon, 08 May 2017 13:08:43 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin has been receiving extra treatment at the Panthers' facility for purposes of general fitness and well-being, according to head coach Ron Rivera. Much was made of Benjamin's physique last week when he reported for offseason activities overweight and out of shape.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin has a large frame as is, but the reported 280 pounds is too much. Whether or not that number was true is one thing, but Benjamin is trying to get into football shape. Assuming he can do so, he's a WR2 candidate again this year. He achieved WR2 status in 2014 and 2016.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin's option exercised

Tue, 02 May 2017 11:12:14 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin's fifth-year option was picked up Tuesday, May 2.

Fantasy Tip: It's ironic that Benjamin's option was "exercised" just a few days after reports that Benjamin has ballooned to 280 pounds this offseason. Benjamin has a big frame, but he'll need to drop significant weight before the season starts. If he can get back into shape he'll warrant WR2 consideration, but don't be surprised to see WR3 numbers or worse from him at the end of the season. The stars just aren't aligned with Benjamin's physique and Cam Newton's perpetual erroneousness.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin's weight causing concern

Sat, 29 Apr 2017 17:50:35 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin is overweight, according to head coach Ron Rivera, and it's a concern. Benjamin, listed at 6-5, 245 pounds, was rumored to weigh 280 pounds, but Rivera disputed the report. He did not offer a specific weight, but he said Benjamin is a "little heavy" right now and is working hard to lose the weight.

Fantasy Tip: KB is a big dude, so weighing north of 250 isn't that much of a concern, but 280 is a big tight end in today's NFL. Assuming he manages his weight properly, there is no reason to be overly concerned this time of the year. Benjamin is a WR2 in most fantasy setups.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin's option to be exercised

Fri, 24 Mar 2017 09:36:04 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin's fifth year option for the 2018 season will be picked up, according to general manager Dave Gettleman.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin missed the entire 2015 season due to injury and faded after a strong start in 2016, but he's still the best receiver the Panthers have. He'll be two years removed from ACL surgery at the start of the 2017 season, although he needs a healthy Cam Newton to realize his full potential. If Newton is good to go by Week 1, Benjamin can be considered a fantasy WR3 with big upside.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin deadline looming

Fri, 24 Mar 2017 06:41:33 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin has a May 2 deadline for the team to pick up his fifth-year option, which figures to be around $8 million.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin had 10 fewer catches for 67 fewer yards and two fewer touchdowns last season than in his rookie year in 2014. It was a 63-941-7 line, which is not bad at all, but it puts him in the low-end WR2 range. Was this a microcosm of him returning from a torn ACL, or is Benjamin just not on the WR1 path he projected towards? This year will likely answer that. His yards per reception jumped more than a yard to 14.9 yards per catch, and he presents a solid choice as a midrange WR2.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin posts 93 yards, TD

Sun, 01 Jan 2017 19:56:18 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin rolled up six receptions for 93 yards and a touchdown on seven targets in the Week 17 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin disappeared for fantasy owners when it mattered most in the fantasy playoffs (Week 13 through 15), posting just five grabs for 49 yards and no scores in three games. He finished up the final two games with 10 grabs for 158 yards and two touchdowns, but overall it was a disappointing season for Benjamin and his fantasy owners.

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (back) posted four receptions for 63 yards and a touchdown in the Week 16 game against the Atlanta Falcons. He was targeted eight times.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin was on the injury report this week with a back injury, but he shined through with his best stat line since mid-September. It was a good finish for fantasy owners who continued to trust him through thick or thin.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin on track to play

Fri, 23 Dec 2016 14:56:55 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (back) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 23, and is not on the injury report for Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin has been a disappointment for owners in the last few weeks because he has not had more than three catches in any of his last five games. He probably will see some targets in Week 16, but owners probably will be able to find better options to use.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin practices in full

Thu, 22 Dec 2016 11:20:02 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (back) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin has caught only five of the 17 targets thrown to him over the last three games and has been held to 20 yards or less in each of those games. Owners may want to consider benching Benjamin if they have better options but could also use him as a low-end No. 3 receiver or a flex option.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin listed as limited

Wed, 21 Dec 2016 14:41:05 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (back) was limited during practice Wednesday, Dec. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin should be able to play in Week 16 but has not been a big factor over the last few weeks. He has recorded only five catches 49 yards in his last three games. Benjamin could be a No. 3 receiver or a flex option in some leagues, but owners should also keep him on the bench if they have better options.
