Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) was able to play in the Week 4 game against the Baltimore Ravens, and he finished with five receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown. He was targeted a team-high nine times.
Fantasy Tip: Benjamin has found the end zone in three of his first four NFL games, emerging as a solid WR2 or flex fantasy receiver in most formats.
Fri, 19 Sep 2014 11:31:59 -0700
Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 19, and is listed as probable for Week 3.
Fantasy Tip: Benjamin should be able to play in Week 3 unless he suffers a setback before the game. Owners would have to spend $5,100 on Benjamin at FantasyScore this week, and Benjamin could be a No. 3 wide receiver or flex option for some owners.
Thu, 18 Sep 2014 13:40:15 -0700
Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin looked good in his first NFL game in Week 1, but he showed growing pains on route running, downfield blocking and with dropped passes in Week 2 against the Detroit Lions. The team graded Benjamin a 70 out of 100 in Week 1 for poor routes and a lack of blocking. He was graded at 93 last week despite catching only two passes for 43 yards. Benjamin also had three drops against the Lions after having a high drop rate of 9 percent at Florida State in 2013.
Fantasy Tip: As with any rookie, Benjamin will have his ups and downs this year. Be careful not to rely on him too much, especially when the team doesn't have much depth at his position. Play the matchups with Benjamin in daily fantasy football, but be prepared for some disappointment along the way.

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) practiced in full Thursday, Sept. 18.
Fantasy Tip: After a nice Week 1 performance, Benjamin struggled with drops and looked more like a rookie in Week 2. There may be better options than Benjamin against the Pittsburgh Steelers this week at FantasyScore.
Wed, 17 Sep 2014 15:50:41 -0700
Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 17.
Fantasy Tip: Even with the injury concern, Benjamin still may not be worth the $5,100 (10.20% of cap) in FantasyScore because of a bad match up against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Look elsewhere this week.

Sat, 06 Sep 2014 21:39:06 -0700
Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin has built a strong relationship with QB Cam Newton both on and off the field, according to head coach Ron Rivera. Rivera said that when Benjamin lines up and sees a cornerback in a certain position or a safety too tight, Benjamin can look at Newton and they know immediately what to do.
Fantasy Tip: Benjamin is likely going to need some time to develop into a consistent fantasy force, but the rookie has the size and athleticism to be a threat immediately, especially in the red zone. He will take up just 9% of you cap ($4,500) in FantasyScore, and considering his touchdown potential, he is worth taking a chance on as a bargain option to free up salary for some bigger names at other positions.
Fri, 29 Aug 2014 20:36:40 -0700
The Carolina Panthers will keep six wide receivers with WRs Jason Avant, Kelvin Benjamin, Brenton Bersin, Philly Brown, Jerricho Cotchery and Tavarres King as the projected members of the 53-man roster. The team could still look to pick up a receiver or kick returner off waivers after the final roster cuts Saturday, Aug. 30.
Fri, 15 Aug 2014 14:47:59 -0700
Carolina Panthers rookie WR Kelvin Benjamin is being prepped as the team's No. 1 wide receiver in practices. "We've done some things defensively to put him in situations where he's being jammed, where he's being pressed, he's being doubled, he's being rolled to," head coach Ron Rivera said. "He's going to have to get used to it." Some were worried whether Benjamin would struggle with his route running at the NFL level, but wide receivers coach Ricky Proehl said Benjamin is more than capable. Benjamin has developed good chemistry with QB Cam Newton off the field, and the team hopes it'll carry over to game situations.
Fantasy Tip: There are pretty high expectations for Benjamin in his rookie year as he effectively replaces Steve Smith as the team's go-to receiver. Benjamin will receive plenty of looks, but he'll also receive plenty of attention from opposing defenses. He's been impressive so far, but he'll surely go through growing pains in his first season and be inconsistent for fantasy owners. Don't draft him as anything more than a WR4.

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) said his knee felt better Tuesday, July 29, and he could be back sooner than expected. Benjamin suffered a bruised left knee in practice Sunday, July 27.
Fantasy Tip: As long as he's healthy, Benjamin could be the Panthers' No. 1 wide receiver and perhaps their main red-zone threat. Still, he's no more than a WR4 in redraft leagues.

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) said he woke up feeling great Tuesday, July 29. Benjamin said he will wait for the OK from trainers before returning.

Mon, 28 Jul 2014 16:33:34 -0700
Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) doesn't have a timetable for his return after bruising his left knee, but he is expected to be back in days, not weeks. Head coach Ron Rivera said Benjamin should be back before the end of training camp Aug. 12. So far in camp, Benjamin has looked really good and hasn't dropped a pass during team drills while running with the first-team offense. WR Jason Avant moved up to the first-team offense Monday, July 28, with Benjamin out.
Fantasy Tip: Benjamin's injury isn't serious, but he could miss some valuable time with the starters in camp, especially since he's a rookie. Don't expect too much of Benjamin in his first year in an offense that doesn't have many other legitimate receiving threats.
Mon, 28 Jul 2014 12:39:10 -0700
Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) has a bone bruise, according to head coach Ron Rivera. There is swelling in the knee but nothing is structurally damaged.

Mon, 28 Jul 2014 10:11:29 -0700
Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin's (knee) left knee injury isn't expected to be serious, and head coach Ron Rivera is optimistic that Benjamin won't miss much time. Benjamin is heading for an MRI exam Monday, July 28. "He's had a great camp," Rivera said. "He came in in tip-top shape and ready to roll. He's one of those guys who spent time with Cam (before camp) working out. It's one of those that we want to make sure and be smart about." Benjamin's MRI results are expected later Monday.
Fantasy Tip: Benjamin should see plenty of looks in his first season, but he will be a bit raw as a rookie, so keep that in mind if you draft him for WR depth with upside.
Mon, 28 Jul 2014 07:52:25 -0700
Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) will have an MRI on his left knee. He bumped knees with another player in practice Sunday, July 27.

Fri, 20 Jun 2014 13:39:33 -0700
The Carolina Panthers are excited about what they have seen out of WR Kelvin Benjamin during organized team activities this summer. "That's part of why you bring the young man in," head coach Ron Rivera said. "You draft him for a specific skill set. He can become a threat in the red zone and a threat for you on third down and have an immediate impact doing those things for us. It was good to see him do those things and good to see him work with Cam (Newton) as well. I'm excited as to where he's heading and what he can become for us."
Fantasy Tip: Benjamin is extremely raw, but the Panthers don't have many other imposing wideout options, so he should see starter repetitions immediately. His biggest asset is his size, and he should give Cam Newton a nice red zone option. There'll be a learning curve here, though, so use Benjamin as WR depth with upside.

And it's important to him. It's really important to him."

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin is expected to be a big target for QB Cam Newton in the red zone this season. The Panthers' first-round pick is listed at 6-foot-5, 240 pounds.
Fantasy Tip: Itís too early to get too excited about Benjaminís potential. He may be the teamís No. 1 red zone threat, but heís still a rookie and has a lot to learn. Itís safer to be more cautious with Benjamin, who may be more inconsistent than fantasy owners would want.
Thu, 08 May 2014 20:17:22 -0700
The Carolina Panthers selected Florida State WR Kelvin Benjamin with the 28th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.
Fantasy Tip: The talented, big catcher is a fine fit -- they need a red zone target. This isn't a big aerial offense, but Benjamin, by default with the lack of options around him, should see plenty of targets from Cam Newton. He's a WR4 at his 2014 peak, a decent gamble in the fantasy reserve rounds.

San Francisco 49ers general manager Trent Baalke has made no secret of his preference for players with long arms. San Francisco's 2013 rookies averaged 34-inch arms.
Wide receiver is a position of need for the 49ers in the upcoming NFL Draft, so they could show first-round interest in Texas A&M's Mike Evans and Florida State's Kelvin Benjamin, whose arms measure 34 7/8 inches and 35 1/8 inches, respectively.
