Steelers | Dri Archer shows off explosiveness

Sat, 09 Aug 2014 20:51:20 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Dri Archer took a short pass on a bubble screen and turned it into a 46-yard gain during the team's preseason game Saturday, Aug. 9. He finished with two catches for 50 yards and two carries for nine yards.

Fantasy Tip: Le'Veon Bell is the top dog in Pittsburgh's backfield, and with LeGarrette Blount the likely backup, Archer won't enter the year with a lot of fantasy value. That being said, plays like this show what his speed can add to the offense. If he manages to carve out a consistent role in the passing game, Archer could become a useful option in deeper PPR formats. Keep an eye on him this year to see how his role develops.

Steelers | Preseason to determine RB rotation

Fri, 11 Jul 2014 17:42:41 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said training camp and preseason games will determine how the team uses RBs Le'Veon Bell, LeGarrette Blount and Dri Archer in the running game.

Fantasy Tip: Bell is expected to receive most of the snaps at the position and should be taken in the first few rounds in most fantasy leagues. Blount probably should be considered as a handcuff to Bell or later-round flier in drafts. Archer likely will not be selected in a majority of drafts.

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell will likely see 300 carries this season, but not much more than that as the team will use RBs LeGarrette Blount and Dri Archer to spell him and keep him fresh.

Fantasy Tip: Bell should also see a handful of receptions to make him a serviceable RB1.
