49ers | Carlos Hyde update

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 08:11:31 -0700

Updating a previous report, San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde is not believed to be injured and shouldn't be on the non-football injury list for long. Hyde suffered a calf injury during spring drills, but it's not expected to be an issue.

Fantasy Tip: If everything checks out, Hyde remains a mid-to-low RB2.

49ers | Carlos Hyde placed on NFI list

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 14:14:13 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (undisclosed) was placed on the Non-Football Injury list Tuesday, July 28.

Fantasy Tip: The injury was not disclosed, so Hyde's status will need to be monitored heading into training camp. His fantasy value is hard to gauge until the injury and its extent are known.

49ers | Carlos Hyde tough to bring down

Thu, 09 Jul 2015 21:23:26 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde forced missed tackles on 30.1% of his 83 carries last season, putting him just below Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch's rate of 31.4%.

Fantasy Tip: That's not to say Hyde is in Lynch's class by any means, but he does possess a nice combination of speed and power. The addition of Reggie Bush and return of Kendall Hunter will keep him from being an every-down back, but Hyde should make a solid RB2 as the lead back for the 49ers.

49ers | Carlos Hyde sheds weight

Thu, 25 Jun 2015 11:31:38 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde has shed about 10 pounds from last year's playing weight, which should add to his deceptively light feet and cutting ability. The team is installing zone-blocking concepts, which worked well for Washington Redskins RB Alfred Morris when offensive line coach Chris Foerster was in Washington.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde enters camp as a midrange RB2 with some upside in fantasy.

49ers | Carlos Hyde returns

Sat, 06 Jun 2015 11:25:25 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (leg) returned to organized team activities Friday, June 5, after nursing a minor leg injury.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde should be the starting running back for the 49ers once the season begins. He'll play the thunder role in the backfield while newly acquired Reggie Bush will provide the lightning. Hyde has low-end RB2 potential if he can stay healthy.

49ers | Carlos Hyde nursing injury

Thu, 21 May 2015 16:00:16 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (leg) is nursing a leg injury and did not practice Thursday, May 21. A timetable for his return was not disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde and Reggie Bush will form a formidable one-two punch in San Francisco this year, with Hyde likely receiving the bulk of the carries and Bush playing more of a passing down role. Hyde has RB2 potential while Bush will hold more value in point-per-reception leagues and could end up in RB3 territory.

49ers | Carlos Hyde expected to start

Wed, 13 May 2015 22:49:07 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde is the expected starter heading into the regular season while RBs Reggie Bush, Kendall Hunter and rookie Mike Davis all compete for touches as well.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde will get first crack at the carries and if fantasy drafts were today, he would be the first San Francisco back off the board. The San Francisco RB situation is crowded, though, and it could be similar to a New England situation from last year where one guy is a stud one week and non-existent the next. Be careful to have plenty of depth at the position if you draft 49ers.

49ers | Carlos Hyde in shape

Mon, 20 Apr 2015 13:24:13 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde has reportedly dropped his weight near 220 pounds. It's the lightest he's been since his days at Ohio State University.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde is a force to be reckoned with in 2015, as long as he can stay on the field. He'll be the 49ers' go to running back with Frank Gore now out of the picture, at least on first and second down. Reggie Bush will be the man on passing downs. Still, Hyde scored four times on just 83 carries last season, so he could be especially formidable near the goal line.

49ers | Carlos Hyde to receive more time

Mon, 13 Apr 2015 15:46:32 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde likely will see a lot more playing time next season, according to QB Colin Kaepernick.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde will be sharing playing time with Reggie Bush and Kendall Hunter, but he likely will receive a majority of the carries during the season. Hyde could be an option in the middle rounds of drafts next season and be seen as a No. 2 running back for a team.

49ers | Carlos Hyde the projected lead back

Tue, 10 Mar 2015 11:06:35 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde is the projected lead back for 2015, with impending free-agent RB Frank Gore expected to leave. RB Kendall Hunter (knee) will be returning from an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his knee. Hyde averaged 4.0 yards per carry while rushing for 333 yards in his rookie season in 2014, but he also suffered a sprained ankle in Week 15. Hyde's four rushing touchdowns tied him for the team lead with Gore.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde should be an intriguing fantasy football option as a potential RB2 with upside. However, the uncertainty surrounding the Niners' offense during a regime change can't go unnoticed. How will the power-run game be influenced now that offensive coordinator Greg Roman is gone? With that said, make sure not to overpay for Hyde's services.
