Jaguars | Allen Hurns to have major role?

Sun, 16 Jul 2017 18:53:35 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns is one of Jacksonville's most consistent receivers, according to John Oehser of Jaguars.com, and Oehser believes Hurns will be a "big factor" in the passing game this season.

Fantasy Tip: Hurns was one of the biggest busts in fantasy circles last season, but he had 10 touchdowns just a couple of years ago. He should still be the No. 2 or No. 3 option in the passing game, and Hurns is worth taking a chance on as a WR5.

Jaguars | Allen Hurns may be used in slot

Sun, 18 Jun 2017 13:16:04 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns likely will line up as a slot receiver in 2017, in the opinion of the Florida Times-Union's Ryan O'Halloran.

Fantasy Tip: Hurns is coming off a disappointing 2016 season where he missed five games and posted only 477 yards and three touchdowns. Hurns should have a solid role in the passing game if he is healthy this season and could be considered a No. 5 receiver in some fantasy leagues.

Jaguars | Allen Hurns looking to improve

Sat, 27 May 2017 12:29:35 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns said he knows he has to play better than he did in 2016 and has been working to improve during the offseason. Hurns has added some weight but has cut his body fat. He has also worked on improving his change of direction during routes and has been strengthening his legs to help avoid hamstring injuries.

Fantasy Tip: Hurns struggled with injuries in 2016 and finished with 35 receptions and 477 yards in 11 games. He likely will be a top three receiver for the Jaguars this upcoming season and should improve on his 2016 stats. He could be a No. 5 receiver in fantasy leagues.

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns (hamstring) said his hamstring is still sore and that he likely will not play in Week 17 even though he is listed as questionable.

Fantasy Tip: Hurns has missed the last few games and probably will not be ready to play, so owners should avoid him in all leagues. Allen Robinson may be the only Jaguars receiver worth using in fantasy leagues and can be a No. 3 receiver for owners.

Jaguars | Allen Hurns ruled out again

Fri, 23 Dec 2016 11:37:04 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns (hamstring) will miss his fourth consecutive game in Week 16 against the Tennessee Titans.

Fantasy Tip: There's very little reason for Jacksonville to bring him back for Week 17, so Hurns will likely finish his season with 35 catches for 477 yards and three touchdowns over 11 games. Allen Robinson and Marqise Lee should see their usual work in a plus-matchup, but the Jaguars' dysfunctional offense makes both players hard to trust even as low-end WR3s.

Jaguars | Allen Hurns misses practice

Thu, 22 Dec 2016 13:33:31 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns (hamstring) did not practice Thursday, Dec. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Hurns has missed the last few weeks, so don't expect him to return this week after missing consecutive practices. Jacksonville's passing game is unreliable, but Allen Robinson and Marqise Lee shouldn't be overlooked. They both have quality matchups against the Tennessee Titans. ARob is a WR3 option while Lee is more of a flex play with added value in return leagues.

Jaguars | No practice for Allen Hurns

Wed, 07 Dec 2016 13:13:30 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Hurns missed last week's game and could miss another if he continues to miss practice. Marqise Lee would be the primary beneficiary if Hurns is out again, but he's only ideal as a flex start, if that, in a tough matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.

Fri, 02 Dec 2016 08:27:56 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 13.

Fantasy Tip: Marqise Lee has been consistently decent the last four games with four catches in each and touchdowns in two straight games. The Denver Broncos pose a midrange matchup, but he could be a solid flex play with much of the attention on Allen Robinson.

Jaguars | Allen Hurns DNP Friday

Fri, 02 Dec 2016 08:03:20 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns (hamstring) remains out of practice Friday, Dec. 2.

Fantasy Tip: It's never a good sign when a player misses practice Friday, but there is a glimmer of hope when it comes to Hurns. He missed a lot of practice time last season and suited up most of the time. That being said, Hurns' numbers have basically been cut in half this season, and he has four catches in the last three games. He's not a good start against the Denver Broncos.

Thu, 01 Dec 2016 09:54:41 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns (hamstring) is not participating in practice Thursday, Dec. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Hurns' status for Week 13 is uncertain at this point, so owners should monitor the situation. He did catch a touchdown in the last game but has been held to 13 yards or less in each of his last four games. Owners in all leagues probably should avoid Hurns even if he plays.

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns (concussion) is listed as questionable for Week 10.

Jaguars | Allen Hurns in concussion protocol

Mon, 07 Nov 2016 11:58:52 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns (concussion) was placed in the league's concussion protocol Monday, Nov. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Hurns was blanked on four targets in Week 9 and also suffered a right ankle injury, although that appears to be less of a concern. Hurns' status will be updated throughout the week, but Marqise Lee stands to benefit the most in fantasy if the concussion keeps him out against the Houston Texans in Week 10.

Sun, 06 Nov 2016 22:24:56 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns (concussion) left the Week 9 game against the Kansas City Chiefs due to a head injury and he is being evaluated for concussion.

Sat, 05 Nov 2016 19:23:24 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns said the completion percentage during practice has been great in offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett's first week on the job, and Hurns added it has been the best week of practice since he has been with the team.

Fantasy Tip: Hurns is talking up Hackett, but it remains to be seen if a new offensive coordinator will lead to improved results on the field. For now, Hurns remains a low-end WR3.

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns had season highs in catches and yards, finishing with seven receptions for 98 yards and a touchdown in a 36-22 loss to the Tennessee Titans Thursday, Oct. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Coming off a 1,000-yard campaign that included 10 touchdowns, Hurns has underwhelmed in 2016. Start him as a WR3 or flex option for the time being and hope he picks things up in the second half of the year.

Wed, 26 Oct 2016 11:23:58 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns (neck, shoulder) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Oct. 26, and is not on the injury report for Week 8.

Fantasy Tip: Hurns has been targeted at least seven times in four of his last five games but has been held to under 50 yards in three of the last four games. He could be considered a low-end No. 3 receiver or a flex option in deeper leagues but could also be benched if owners have better options.

Tue, 25 Oct 2016 16:07:35 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns (neck, shoulder) participated fully in practice Tuesday, Oct. 25.

Jaguars | Allen Hurns limited Monday

Mon, 24 Oct 2016 16:15:43 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns (neck, shoulder) was limited in practice Monday, Oct. 24. The Jaguars did not practice; Hurns' status is an estimation.

Fantasy Tip: Hurns has yet to get things going in 2016, and the injuries haven't helped. Plus, the Tennessee Titans have been better than average against wide receivers, and the players could be jet lagged since the game is in London. Don't view Hurns as more than a WR3 or flex.

Fri, 21 Oct 2016 16:48:12 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns (shoulder) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 21, and is not on the injury report for Week 7.

Jaguars | Allen Hurns limited Wednesday

Wed, 19 Oct 2016 15:35:31 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns (shoulder) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Hurns won't want to miss this matchup with the Oakland Raiders. Oakland has allowed 1,216 receiving yards to receivers this year -- the most in the NFL. This game could turn into a shootout, so prepare to start any starting receivers in this game, including Hurns if he's good to go.

Jaguars | Allen Hurns catches five passes

Sun, 16 Oct 2016 14:50:21 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns caught five passes for 74 yards against the Chicago Bears in Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: Hurns has been targeted at least eight times in three of the last four games but has not been able to post more than 75 yards in any game this season. Hurns could still be considered a low-end No. 2 or a No. 3 receiver in fantasy leagues.

Jaguars | Allen Hurns finds the end zone

Sat, 20 Aug 2016 21:05:13 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns managed two receptions for 29 yards with a touchdown on three targets in the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 20, against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fantasy Tip: Hurns had a breakout performance in 2015, reaching double digits in touchdowns. The thinking is Hurns has a slight backslide this season, but he should still be counted upon as a low-end WR2 in most fantasy formats, higher if Allen Robinson suffers some sort of long-term injury and Hurns becomes the top dog.

Jaguars | Allen Hurns back at practice

Thu, 18 Aug 2016 07:46:24 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns (knee) returned to practice Thursday, Aug. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Hurns performed through a myriad of injuries in his breakout season last year. There could be some regression from his 10 touchdowns, but he should remain heavily involved. He ranks in as a low-end WR2 in fantasy.

Wed, 17 Aug 2016 12:31:50 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns (knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Aug. 17, because of a knee injury.

Fantasy Tip: The severity of Hurns' injury is not known at this point, so owners should keep an eye on the situation. He likely will receive a solid amount of targets this season and can be a low-end No. 2 or a high-end No. 3 receiver in fantasy leagues.

Jaguars | Allen Hurns to move around

Fri, 22 Jul 2016 14:36:47 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns will receive playing time as a slot receiver in addition to lining up as an outside receiver, according to wide receivers coach Jerry Sullivan.

Fantasy Tip: Hurns likely would receive more favorable matchups if he lines up as a slot receiver in 2016, which would help his fantasy value. He recorded 1,031 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2015 and should be a middle-round option in all fantasy leagues.

Jaguars | Allen Hurns is allergic to grass

Thu, 09 Jun 2016 10:19:16 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns is allergic to grass, which is why he wears long sleeves and tries to cover as much of his body as possible. Hurns said he found out about his grass allergy in high school. Hurns said he doesn't experience breathing problems. His nose doesn't get stuffy or runny either. He has skin breakouts that vary in degrees. Some days they're barely there. Other days he said he has to take a medication after practice or games if it's a severe breakout.

Fantasy Tip: Hurns isn't affected by it on the field, so it's more of a quirky tidbit than anything notable. Hurns is coming off a 64-1,031-10 breakout and is a low-end WR2 or a high-end WR3 in fantasy.

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 08:10:58 -0700

Updating a previous report, Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns' four-year, $40 million deal includes $16 million fully guaranteed at signing. The remaining $4 million guarantee becomes fully guaranteed the third day of free agency in 2018.

Fantasy Tip: Hurns seemed like he was on the injury report every week last season, but he still delivered a 64-1,031-10 breakout year. He's a low-end WR2 or a high-end WR3 in fantasy this season.

Jaguars | Allen Hurns agrees to extension

Thu, 02 Jun 2016 14:34:26 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns agreed to a four-year extension worth more than $40 million Thursday, June 2, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Hurns earned big money last year racking up over 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns. He's better suited for standard leagues, though, and is a low-end WR2 to high-end WR3 consideration in such formats with Allen Robinson and Julius Thomas also likely to see plenty of targets. The Jaguars will also ideally run more in 2016 with T.J. Yeldon and Chris Ivory, which could drop Hurns' fantasy value a little bit, too.
