Chicago Bears head coach Marc Trestman is cautious about FS Brock Vereen landing a starting job heading into training camp. "The simple fact we've rotated him with the 1's is a clear indication we think he can compete, but we're not going to anoint him yet," Trestman said. "There's no reason to think he can't put himself in position to compete for one of those jobs, but it's way, way too early."

Chicago Bears FS Ryan Mundy, FS Brock Vereen and SS Craig Steltz will likely make the roster this season, and FS Chris Conte (shoulder) will also make the roster as long as he recovers from a shoulder injury. If the team decides to keep five safeties, FS M.D. Jennings would likely make the cut ahead of SS Danny McCray.

Vanderbilt FS Kenny Ladler had 24 reps, Washington State SS Deone Bucannon had 19 reps, while North Carolina SS Tre Boston, Louisville FS Calvin Pryor and Alabama SS Vinnie Sunseri each posted 18 reps.
