Falcons | Taylor Gabriel signs RFA tender

Sat, 22 Apr 2017 15:04:55 -0700

Atlanta Falcons restricted free-agent WR Taylor Gabriel signed his one-year tender worth $2.81 million on Saturday, April 22.

Fantasy Tip: Gabriel emerged as a big-play threat last season by scoring seven times on only 39 touches, including six touchdown catches. He's likely to remain the third receiver in Atlanta again this year behind Julio Jones and Mohamed Sanu, but his role shouldn't change much even with the departure of former offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan. He's worth a look late in drafts.

Falcons | Taylor Gabriel reports without signing

Mon, 17 Apr 2017 20:54:12 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Taylor Gabriel reported for organized team activities Monday, April 17, without yet signing his free-agent tender of $2.746 million. Other teams have until Friday, April 21, to sign Gabriel to an offer sheet, so it is possible he is just waiting until the last minute to see if he can generate any outside interest.

Fantasy Tip: While he's waiting for such a scenario to play out just in case, it seems unlikely another team would surrender a second-round draft pick by signing the emerging wide-out to an offer sheet. Even so, Gabriel proved his worth last year by notching six touchdown receptions in his first year with the Falcons, tying him with Julio Jones for the team lead. He deserves a late-round flier in deep leagues for having an active role in Atlanta's explosive offense.

Falcons | Taylor Gabriel gets second-round tender

Wed, 08 Mar 2017 08:42:04 -0800

Atlanta Falcons restricted free-agent WR Taylor Gabriel received a second-round tender Wednesday, March 8.

Fantasy Tip: Gabriel carved a niche last season and vaulted himself into the boom-or-bust fantasy picture. Reminiscent of Percy Harvin in years past, Gabriel has game-breaking ability and can be a low-target, high-scoring potential commodity. He's a WR4 that could have upside for more in fantasy.

Falcons | Taylor Gabriel tendered

Fri, 03 Mar 2017 10:10:14 -0800

The Atlanta Falcons placed a second-round tender on restricted free-agent WR Taylor Gabriel at $2.81 million Friday, March 3, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Gabriel famously was cut loose by the Cleveland Browns prior to last season, only to emerge as a much-needed big-play threat for the Falcons' top-ranked scoring offense. The second-round tender will almost certainly keep them in Atlanta. Even with offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan now in San Francisco, Gabriel should enter 2017 as a fantasy WR4.

Falcons | Taylor Gabriel will receive tender

Wed, 01 Mar 2017 14:33:30 -0800

Atlanta Falcons restricted free-agent WR Taylor Gabriel will receive a tender offer this offseason, but general manager Thomas Dimitroff would not disclosed the level of the tender.

Fantasy Tip: Gabriel is coming off a terrific 2016 season and could receive a multi-year deal this offseason. He should continue to be used in the slot and will be a No. 3 receiver for the Falcons next season. He can be a No. 3 or No. 4 receiver for fantasy owners.

Falcons | Taylor Gabriel wants to stay in Atlanta

Tue, 14 Feb 2017 14:48:53 -0800

Atlanta Falcons restricted free-agent WR Taylor Gabriel said he wants to be a Falcon "forever." The Falcons also want their deep-threat receiver to stay. If the Falcons really want him back, they'll be able to place a high tender on Gabriel, forcing other prospective teams to have to surrender a first- or second-round pick in order to sign him. General manager Thomas Dimitroff said last week that a priority heading into free agency will be to re-sign Atlanta's free agents. The Falcons are expected to place a second-round tender worth around $2.8 million. A first-round tender would be worth around $4 million.

Fantasy Tip: Gabriel was a pleasant surprise for the Falcons in 2016 after being cut by the Cleveland Browns. The speedy deep threat really opened up the field for Atlanta and helped force some of the opposition's attention away from Julio Jones. That being said, Gabriel "only" managed 579 yards and six touchdowns. If he does re-sign he'll likely remain the No. 3 receiver behind Jones and Mohamed Sanu, so don't view him as more than a mid- to late-round option in standard drafts.

Falcons | Taylor Gabriel a non-factor

Sun, 22 Jan 2017 16:52:27 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Taylor Gabriel caught two balls for 24 yards Sunday, Jan. 22, in the NFC Championship Game against the Green Bay Packers.

Fantasy Tip: Gabriel had played a nice complementary role for fantasy lineups over the second half of the season, so this was disappointing for DFS gamers. His role is matchup-driven and also based on injuries to those around him, which means he's a high-risk investment in 2017 drafts.

Falcons | Taylor Gabriel not on injury report

Fri, 20 Jan 2017 13:14:22 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Taylor Gabriel (foot) fully participated in practice Friday, Jan. 20, and is not on the injury report for the NFC Championship game.

Fantasy Tip: Gabriel should be able to handle his normal workload against the Green Bay Packers even though he has dealt with the injury over the last few weeks. He should see a decent amount of targets during the game and can be a No. 3 receiver in fantasy leagues.

Falcons | Taylor Gabriel still limited

Thu, 19 Jan 2017 14:05:59 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Taylor Gabriel (foot) was limited in practice Thursday, Jan. 19.

Fantasy Tip: That's back-to-back limited practices for Gabriel so far this week. He should be able to play as long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks. Julio Jones hasn't practiced yet this week, so Gabriel could see more action if Jones doesn't play or is limited at all (expect him to play). Gabriel is not a bad cheap play in daily contests in what has the makings of a shootout with the Green Bay Packers.

Falcons | Taylor Gabriel will be limited

Wed, 18 Jan 2017 11:26:22 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Taylor Gabriel (foot) will be limited during practice Wednesday, Jan. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Gabriel was able to play in the Divisional round game and should be ready for the NFC Championship game this week. He has been targeted at least six times in four of the last five games and can be a No. 3 receiver or a flex option in most leagues.
