Marlins | Two Marlins out against lefties

Thu, 26 May 2016 08:20:52 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Justin Bour and OF Ichiro Suzuki are out of the lineup Thursday, May 26. SS Adeiny Hechavarria is leading off, and 1B Chris Johnson is hitting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Hechavarria hasn't made much of an impact this season, and it might come as a surprise that he's hitting just .160 against lefties. He has upside at leadoff, but he's probably not a great choice against Drew Smyly. It's much of the same for Johnson, who isn't worth consideration in the barebones lineup today.

Marlins | Justin Bour hitting third

Tue, 24 May 2016 08:01:11 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Justin Bour is hitting third Tuesday, May 24.

Fantasy Tip: Bour has been all or nothing of late with a .235-6-11 line this month. He's a midrange option against Jake Odorizzi.

Marlins | Justin Bour, Derek Dietrich out vs. lefty

Mon, 23 May 2016 12:26:27 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Justin Bour and 2B Derek Dietrich are not in the starting lineup against Tampa Bay Rays left-handed SP Matt Moore Monday, May 23. 1B Chris Johnson is at first base and is hitting sixth, while SS Miguel Rojas starts at the keystone and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson is batting .382 (21-for-55) and has been successful against lefties, but he's also not much of a threat to leave the yard. Regardless, he could be considered a deep sleeper tonight. Rojas is a light-hitting middle infielder that makes for a desperation play.

Marlins | Justin Bour homers again

Sun, 22 May 2016 13:34:05 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Justin Bour hit his second home run in as many days and his ninth of the season Sunday, May 22, in an 8-2 loss to the Washington Nationals. Bour has a .254-9-23 line through 38 games this year.

Fantasy Tip: Bour had 23 homers in 129 games last season, so he is already on track to surpass last year's strong numbers. Bour also has a .516 slugging percentage. He appears to have taken the home run mantle up from Giancarlo Stanton for the time being. Bour is useful in all fantasy formats.

Marlins | Marcell Ozuna, Justin Bour go deep

Mon, 16 May 2016 20:37:15 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Marcell Ozuna and 1B Justin Bour each hit a solo home run against the Philadelphia Phillies Monday, May 16.

Fantasy Tip: Ozuna has at least one hit in each of his last 16 games and should be a starting option in all leagues as long as he is on his hitting streak. Bour has hit a home run in three of his last five games and should be an attractive option in daily fantasy leagues.

Marlins | Justin Bour sitting vs. Nationals

Fri, 13 May 2016 14:14:56 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Justin Bour is not in the starting lineup Friday, May 13. 3B Chris Johnson is starting at first base and batting sixth against Washington Nationals SP Gio Gonzalez Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to sub Bour out of your season lineups where possible. He is riding a solid 10-game stretch with six runs, four home runs and 10 RBI. Bour has upside in deep mixed formats. Johnson fared well against southpaws last season with a .326 batting average, which makes him a potential low-priced flier in daily contests Friday. He is nothing more than a depth option in cavernous mixed and NL-only seasonal formats.

Marlins | Justin Bour available off the bench

Fri, 06 May 2016 13:29:26 -0700

Updating a previous report, Miami Marlins 1B Justin Bour (finger) said he is available to pinch hit during the game against the Philadelphia Phillies Friday, May 6, and he hopes to return to the lineup against Philadelphia Saturday, May 7.

Fantasy Tip: Stay tuned for updates on Bour over the next few days and monitor his progress once he returns to the lineup because his dislocated pinky could negatively impact his results at the plate. He is likely best left to deep mixed and NL-only formats at this stage.

Marlins | Justin Bour still sidelined

Fri, 06 May 2016 11:31:54 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Justin Bour (finger) remains out of the starting lineup Friday, May 6. 1B Chris Johnson is starting at first base again and is hitting seventh against Philadelphia Phillies SP Vincent Velasquez.

Fantasy Tip: Bour has a dislocated pinkie finger but could return to the lineup soon. The problem is he could be in line for more of a platoon role with Johnson when he returns. Save him for cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues. Johnson makes a lot of contact but has little power and isn't a great DFS play against the emerging Velasquez.

Marlins | Justin Bour still recovering

Thu, 05 May 2016 19:21:21 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Justin Bour (finger) will try hit Friday, May 6, but he remains day-to-day with a left pinkie finger injury.

Fantasy Tip: Chris Johnson should continue to see extra at-bats until Bour returns, but he doesn't have any fantasy appeal.

Marlins | Justin Bour still out

Thu, 05 May 2016 12:34:18 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Justin Bour (finger) remains out of the starting lineup Thursday, May 5. 1B Chris Johnson is starting at first base and is hitting sixth against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Robbie Ray.

Fantasy Tip: Bour is dealing with a dislocated pinkie finger. While he may avoid the DL, he could miss at least a few more games. Johnson does hit lefty pitcher much better in his career, but he lacks notable power and therefor has a limited fantasy ceiling in all formats.
