Marlins | Two Fish sit out

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 07:29:33 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto and 1B Justin Bour are out of the lineup Wednesday, June 29, with 1B Chris Johnson hitting sixth and C Jeff Mathis hitting ninth. OF Ichiro Suzuki is in at DH and leading off.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson is hitting just .228 against lefties this season in what has been an ineffective year thus far. He has hit lefties well in the past, but he may be past it to use against lefty Daniel Norris. Suzuki is hitting .308 in 26 at-bats against lefties, and he's a really low-end option today. Mathis isn't worth consideration.

Marlins | Justin Bour homers again

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 18:09:50 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Justin Bour homered for the third straight game, finishing 2-for-4 with a double, the home run, three RBI and a run scored in a 9-6 win over the Chicago Cubs Saturday, June 25.

Fantasy Tip: Bour is having a fine offensive season, and he is worth starting in NL-only formats and deeper mixed leagues.

Marlins | Chris Johnson starting vs. lefty

Thu, 23 Jun 2016 12:08:36 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Chris Johnson is starting at first base and batting seventh against Chicago Cubs SP Jon Lester Thursday, June 23. 1B Justin Bour is not in the starting lineup Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson spots a respectable .295 batting average (43-for-146) against lefties since the beginning of last season, and he is a potential low-priced flier for daily contests Thursday. In seasonal leagues, Johnson is a low-end option in cavernous mixed and NL-only setups, as he has settled into the smaller side of a platoon with Bour at first base. Bour is having a nice month of June with a .326/.404/.565 line and is a viable option in the majority of leagues.

Marlins | Justin Bour homers Wednesday

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 14:31:49 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Justin Bour went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI against the Atlanta Braves Wednesday, June 22.

Fantasy Tip: Bour has at least one hit in six of their last seven games and has six RBI in that span. Owners in deeper mixed leagues should consider using him while he is on his hot streak.

Marlins | Two Fish sit against lefty

Mon, 20 Jun 2016 11:26:36 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Christian Yelich and 1B Justin Bour are out of the lineup Monday, June 20, with Colorado Rockies left-handed SP Jorge De La Rosa on the mound. OF Ichiro Suzuki is leading off, and 1B Chris Johnson is hitting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki is hitting .425 this month, and he's a low-end option against De La Rosa. Johnson is hitting .245 overall, but he hits lefties better. He's a low-end consideration hitting behind Giancarlo Stanton.

Marlins | Three MIA regulars sitting out Sunday

Sun, 19 Jun 2016 07:43:55 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Justin Bour, C J.T. Realmuto and SS Adeiny Hechavarria are not in the starting lineup against Colorado Rockies SP Tyler Anderson Sunday, June 19. INF Chris Johnson will play first base and bat sixth, C Jeff Mathis will start behind the plate and bat seventh and INF Miguel Rojas will play shortstop and bat eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson is batting .269 this month and is 3-for-10 over the past week but should only be viewed as a desperation source of cap relief in DFS. Mathis and Rojas have both struggled at the plate recently and are not worthy of lineup consideration in any fantasy format.

Marlins | Miami sitting three players

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 14:57:13 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Justin Bour, C J.T. Realmuto and 2B Derek Dietrich are not in the starting lineup against San Diego Padres SP Drew Pomeranz Tuesday, June 14. 1B Chris Johnson will start at first base and is batting sixth. C Jeff Mathis will start at catcher and is batting seventh, while SS Miguel Rojas will start at second base and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: All three players have received limited playing time this season, but Rojas has posted decent numbers this season. He should be considered a deep sleeper in daily fantasy leagues, but owners can avoid Johnson and Mathis since there will be better players available.

Marlins | Miami resting two starters

Sun, 12 Jun 2016 11:25:48 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Justin Bour and SS Adeiny Hechavarria are not in the starting lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Robbie Ray Sunday, June 12. 1B Chris Johnson will start at first base and is batting sixth in the lineup. SS Miguel Rojas will start at shortstop and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson has four hits and two RBI in eight games this month and is hitting .236 this season. Owners likely will be able to find better options to use in their lineups. Rojas has been on a bit of a cold streak lately and has only four hits in his last 12 games. Rojas probably can be avoided in most leagues.

Marlins | Justin Bour hits grand slam

Sat, 11 Jun 2016 05:08:26 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Justin Bour went 1-for-1 with one home run and four RBI against the Arizona Diamondbacks Friday, June 10.

Fantasy Tip: Bour has five hits in his last seven games but is hitting only .240 so far this season. He could still be a decent option for owners in deeper mixed leagues as a possible corner infield option but is not a must-start option.

Marlins | Three Miami regulars resting

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 15:36:14 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Justin Bour, 2B Derek Dietrich and C J.T. Realmuto are all out of the starting lineup Friday, June 10. 1B Chris Johnson is starting at first base and hitting sixth, SS Miguel Rojas is at second and batting seventh and C Jeff Mathis is catching and hitting eighth against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Patrick Corbin.

Fantasy Tip: Bour and Dietrich are likely out against the lefty. Johnson carries the most daily value as a deep sleeper because of his success against lefties in the past, but his contact-oriented approach with limited power keeps his ceiling low. Rojas and Mathis are desperation DFS flyers if you're looking to save salary cap space at their respective positions.
