Mets | Michael Conforto to play some RF

Wed, 03 Feb 2016 12:16:33 -0800

New York Mets OFs Michael Conforto and Alejandro De Aza are expected to be exposed to right field in spring training, according to general manager Sandy Alderson. Alderson doesn't expect OF Yoenis Cespedes to play any right field. Conforto played right field seven times as a freshman in college in 2012 but has mainly played in left. De Aza has appeared for 52 starts in his career in right field. Cespedes could play center field against righties and left field against left-handed pitchers.

Fantasy Tip: The future is bright for the lefty swinging Conforto after he slugged nine home runs in just 56 games in his first taste of major league action. He'll be in a platoon role in the outfield for New York, and he must improve against lefties (.214/.267/.214) before he'll become anything more than a late-round selection in deep mixed leagues.

Mets | N.Y. won't go after expensive OFs

Mon, 07 Dec 2015 10:47:56 -0800

The New York Mets will not be shopping in the upper echelon of free-agent outfielders such as free-agent OFs Jason Heyward (Cardinals) or Justin Upton (Padres). The Mets are expected to start OF Michael Conforto in left field with OF Curtis Granderson in right and OF Juan Lagares in center field.

Fantasy Tip: Conforto is an up-and-coming young outfielder that showed his power stroke on display in the playoffs and at the end of the regular season. He's worth the investment in the middle rounds of drafts, especially if he can improve his numbers against southpaws.

Fantasy Tip: Conforto is hitless in his past 19 at-bats dating back to Game 2 of of the National League Division Series, but he showed well in the regular season with a .270/.335/.506 slash line, 30 runs, nine home runs and 26 RBI through 194 plate appearances. Mets | Juan Lagares could start Game 3

Thu, 29 Oct 2015 15:05:17 -0700

New York Mets OF Juan Lagares could start Game 3 of the World Series against the Kansas City Royals Friday, Oct. 30, with Michael Conforto being relegated to a bench role.

Fantasy Tip: Lagares is hitting .368 (7-for-19) with two doubles, two steals and a walk this postseason, and Conforto hasn't registered a hit since Game 2 of the National League Division Series. Lagares also adds a superior defensive glove to the fold for the Mets.

Mets | Juan Lagares starting in CF

Wed, 28 Oct 2015 11:17:15 -0700

New York Mets OF Juan Lagares is starting in center field and batting ninth against Kansas City Royals SP Johnny Cueto in Game 2 of the World Series Wednesday, Oct. 28. OF Yoenis Cespedes moves to left field, while OF Michael Conforto is serving as the designated hitter.

Fantasy Tip: The Mets are opting for better defense in center field for Game 2. Lagares is a much better defensive player than he is with the stick. In 2016 fantasy drafts, Lagares is a candidate to avoid in shallow mixed leagues because of his lack of power.

Mets | David Wright slumping in playoffs

Tue, 20 Oct 2015 10:11:49 -0700

New York Mets 3B David Wright is hitting just .087 in the playoffs this year but insists that he is fine physically. Wright, 1B Lucas Duda and OF Michael Conforto are a combined .093 in seven postseason games.

Fantasy Tip: With Wright ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) struggling at the plate, you have to wonder if he's 100% healthy. Unless he breaks out in the playoffs, he's not very attractive as your FantasyScore third baseman right now.

Mets | Michael Conforto starting Game 5

Thu, 15 Oct 2015 13:22:46 -0700

New York Mets OF Michael Conforto is starting Game 5 of the National League Division Series against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Zack Greinke Thursday, Oct. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Conforto ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) blasted a two-run home run against Greinke ($8,800, 17.6% of cap) in Game 2 of the NLDS, but the outfield still checks out as more of a flier than a lock at FantasyScore Thursday. And above all, Greinke is a tough matchup.

Mets | Michael Conforto playing left field

Wed, 14 Oct 2015 18:10:40 -0700

New York Mets OF Michael Conforto will start in left field in Game 5 of the National League Division Series Thursday, Oct. 15, according to manager Terry Collins.

Fantasy Tip: Conforto ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) will be in the lineup because the Mets are facing a right-handed starting pitcher (Zack Greinke) in Game 5. Conforto went 1-for-2 with a solo home run versus Greinke in Game 2, making him worthy of consideration for FantasyScore lineups Thursday.

Mets | Michael Conforto to start Game 2

Fri, 09 Oct 2015 17:04:15 -0700

Confirming a previous report, New York Mets OF Michael Conforto will start in left field in Game 2 of the National League Division Series against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Zack Greinke Saturday, Oct. 10, according to manager Terry Collins.

Fantasy Tip: Conforto ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) hit .275 with nine home runs and 26 RBIs in 160 at-bats versus right-handed pitching during the regular season, although this is not an ideal matchup in FantasyScore for him. Michael Cuddyer ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) is expected to be the starter in left field whenever the Mets are facing a left-handed starting pitcher.

Mets | Michael Cuddyer to be main left fielder

Thu, 08 Oct 2015 17:06:29 -0700

New York Mets OF Michael Cuddyer is expected to receive most of the starts in left field over OF Michael Conforto during the National League Division Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, since the Mets are expected to face primarily left-handed starting pitching.

Fantasy Tip: The only time Conforto ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) might crack the lineup during the NLDS is when the Mets face right-handed SP Zack Greinke, so he should be avoided in FantasyScore. The other Dodger starting pitching options for the NLDS (Clayton Kershaw, Brett Anderson and possibly Alex Wood) are southpaws. Cuddyer ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) hit .273 with one home run and five RBIs in 99 at-bats against lefties during the regular season but went hitless in eight at-bats versus the Dodgers this year.
