Mets | Michael Conforto lighting it up

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 16:18:31 -0700

New York Mets OF Michael Conforto is batting .390 with three home runs and eight RBI in 11 games since he has moved to the No. 3 spot in the batting order. The Mets are 9-2 in that span.

Fantasy Tip: Conforto is a budding superstar, although he's still likely to be benched when the Mets face a left-handed pitcher. But any time they're facing a right-hander, Conforto should be started in all fantasy formats with confidence the way he's going right now.

Mets | Michael Conforto hitting cleanup

Tue, 26 Apr 2016 13:35:31 -0700

New York Mets OF Michael Conforto is hitting cleanup against Cincinnati Reds left-handed SP Brandon Finnegan Tuesday, April 26. It's Conforto's first start this year against a left-handed pitcher and first start ever since his debut July 24 last year. It's the second time he's been in the cleanup spot.

Fantasy Tip: This situation is likely the result of Yoenis Cespedes (knee) still being out, but it also speaks to how well Conforto has been playing and the confidence that Terry Collins has in him. The young hitter has a .333 average with three home runs and 11 RBI in 57 at-bats. He hit just .214 (3-for-14) against lefties last year, so you should have reservations about using him in daily lineups tonight.

Mets | Michael Conforto to stick in three-hole?

Mon, 18 Apr 2016 10:35:24 -0700

New York Mets OF Michael Conforto went 5-for-12 with four extra-base hits in the three-game series against the Cleveland Indians hitting third in the batting order, and he may stick there for the foreseeable future. Conforto is comfortable hitting third after hitting in the spot playing baseball growing up through college. The Mets will stick with the alignment for now against right-handers.

Fantasy Tip: Conforto showed fantasy owners last year that his power was for real up through the Mets' run to the World Series. Even though he'll sit against lefties, Conforto's hot start and power stroke should be owned and started on a regular basis in all leagues.

Mets | Another two-hit day for Michael Conforto

Sun, 17 Apr 2016 13:51:00 -0700

New York Mets OF Michael Conforto went 2-for-3, including a pair of doubles, with two RBI and two runs scored against the Cleveland Indians on Sunday, April 17.

Fantasy Tip: Conforto also had two hits - including his first homer of the season - in Friday's series opener and has multiple hits in four of his first 10 games in 2016. The Mets' top young hitter hasn't been lighting it up in many fantasy categories outside of batting average (.313) early on, but it should come in time. He's a solid option as the Mets travel to the Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves this week.

Mets | Juan Lagares, Wilmer Flores to play Tuesday

Mon, 11 Apr 2016 15:45:52 -0700

New York Mets OF Juan Lagares and SS Wilmer Flores will be in the starting lineup when the Mets face Miami Marlins left-handed SP Adam Conley Tuesday, April 12. OF Yoenis Cespedes will likely move to left field, with OF Michael Conforto moving to the bench.

Fantasy Tip: It will be the first lefty that the Mets have faced this year. Conley is an up-and-coming young arm for the Marlins. Lagares isn't much of a threat with the stick and is a low-end daily option, while Flores has some pop for a shortstop but also won't move the needle much.

Mets | NYM using strict platoon in left field

Sat, 09 Apr 2016 10:36:30 -0700

New York Mets manager Terry Collins said he is utilizing a strict platoon in left field, with left-handed-hitting OF Michael Conforto playing against right-handed starters and right-handed-hitting OF Juan Lagares facing lefties. "We're in a situation where we're trying to win games," Collins said, when asked why Conforto is platooning. "This is not a time to develop players."

Fantasy Tip: Collins added that he liked Lagares' approach at the plate versus southpaws, although Conforto is widely considered to be the superior offensive player in general. Conforto is a solid outfield option in all formats when he's in the lineup due to his power, while Lagares' appeal should be limited to NL-only fantasy leagues at this time.
