Mets | Three Mets players to sit out

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 16:48:59 -0700

New York Mets SS Jose Reyes, OF Curtis Granderson and OF Michael Conforto are not in the starting lineup for the second game of a doubleheader against the St. Louis Cardinals Tuesday, July 26. OF Juan Lagares will start in center field and is batting first in the lineup against Cardinals SP Jaime Garcia. SS Wilmer Flores will start at third base and is batting fourth, while OF Alejandro De Aza will start in right field and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Lagares, Flores and De Aza have all struggled at the plate over the last seven days and should not be considered by owners in most mixed leagues.

Mets | No Michael Conforto vs. Miami

Fri, 22 Jul 2016 12:36:28 -0700

New York Mets OF Michael Conforto is not in the starting lineup Friday, July 22. OF Juan Lagares is starting in center field and batting eighth against Miami Marlins SP Adam Conley Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Conforto doesn't project to see many starts against southpaws, but he's still a viable option in deep mixed and NL-only leagues. He also owns the upside to be owned universally. Lagares has limited fantasy value batting eighth Friday, and he sits with an underwhelming .254/.299/.413 slash line for the season.

Mets | Michael Conforto back in lineup

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 14:48:49 -0700

New York Mets OF Michael Conforto is starting in right field and is hitting seventh against Chicago Cubs SP Jake Arrieta Tuesday, July 19.

Fantasy Tip: Conforto hit well in the minors and appears to have confidence back at the plate. He was hitting just .226 but did have 10 homers and 30 RBI in 66 games before his demotion, though. Check to see if Conforto is available in your league. He's worth a flier in most fantasy formats, although he's likely to ride the pine against lefties. It's a tough matchup against Arrieta this evening, though, so avoiding him in DFS would be wise.

Mets | Michael Conforto to play in CF

Mon, 18 Jul 2016 16:23:56 -0700

New York Mets OF Michael Conforto will get time in center field, with OF Yoenis Cespedes expressing a desire to solely play left field for remainder of the season, according to manager Terry Collins.

Fantasy Tip: It makes sense, as Cespedes has been banged up and a switch to right field would be less taxing on his legs compared to keeping him in center. Conforto, meanwhile, benefits from this, though he'll have to reprove himself first to fantasy owners before he can be plugged into starting lineups again in most leagues.

Mets | Michael Conforto back up

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 15:48:00 -0700

New York Mets OF Michael Conforto was recalled from Class AAA Las Vegas before the team's game Sunday, July 17. OF Brandon Nimmo was sent to Las Vegas in a corresponding roster move.

Fantasy Tip: Between June 25 and now, Conforto hit 344 with nine extra-base hits and 15 RBIs in the minor leagues. Has he found his stroke? Only Conforto knows that. Still, you should give Conforto a shot in DFS and regular leagues based on his past performance. Keep Nimmo close by on your roster, however, just in case Conforto is ineffective or ends up hurt.

Mets | Michael Conforto likely to be demoted

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 10:13:59 -0700

New York Mets OF Michael Conforto is expected to be demoted to Class AAA Las Vegas. OF Brandon Nimmo will be promoted from Las Vegas and will take over as the everyday left fielder.

Fantasy Tip: Conforto got off to a strong start in 2016, batting .365 through 86 at-bats during the month of April, but he was just 21-for-142 (.148) at the dish since May 1, with 48 strikeouts. He can be dropped in the majority of seasonal fantasy leagues but should remain stashed in dynasty formats. The 23-year-old Nimmo was batting .328 with five home runs and 37 RBI through 63 games for Las Vegas and is worth rostering in NL-only and cavernous mixed leagues.

Mets | Michael Conforto sent to minors

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 09:25:23 -0700

New York Mets OF Michael Conforto was officially sent to the minors Saturday, June 25, and OF Brandon Nimmo was called up in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Conforto started the year off nice but has since fallen on hard times and was hitting just .119 with two home runs and 22 strikeouts in 59 at-bats in June to drop his season average to .222. He should be back at some point but isn't worth keeping around on your roster in seasonal mixed leagues. Stash him in NL-only and dynasty leagues. Nimmo should see regular playing time for New York and was hitting .328 with five home runs and 37 RBI with Class AAA Las Vegas. The prospect should immediately become attractive to owners in deep mixed, NL-only and dynasty formats.

Mets | Two Mets idle Wednesday

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 08:04:03 -0700

New York Mets OF Michael Conforto and C Travis d'Arnaud are out of the lineup Wednesday, June 22. 3B Wilmer Flores moves up to hit fifth, OF Matthew Reynolds hits seventh and C Rene Rivera hits eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Flores hits lefties pretty well, and he faces lefty Danny Duffy today. He's worth the low-end consideration hitting fifth. Reynolds and Rivera aren't worth DFS consideration.

Braves | Julio Teheran fires one-hitter

Sun, 19 Jun 2016 13:11:05 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran turned in the finest effort of his career against the New York Mets Sunday, June 19, yielding only a third-inning single to OF Michael Conforto and striking out seven over a 120-pitch outing for his third win of the season and third career shutout.

Fantasy Tip: Teheran has been one of the few bright spots for the Braves this season with a 2.66 ERA after 15 outings, allowing three runs or fewer in each of his last 12 starts. The 25-year-old should be one of the hotter names on the trade market this summer and is a good bet to get moved, so Atlanta may want to strike while the iron is hot and see what other teams will be willing to pay for him after this gem. Regardless of where he ends up, he should be a solid third starter at worst in fantasy.

Mets | Neil Walker, Michael Conforto return

Thu, 16 Jun 2016 12:53:44 -0700

New York Mets 2B Neil Walker (back) and OF Michael Conforto (wrist) are both back in the lineup against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Juan Nicasio Thursday, June 16. Walker is batting fifth, and Conforto is batting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Return Walker to your starting lineups and continue to view him as a viable starter at the keystone in the majority of leagues. Conforto, on the other hand, is mired in lengthy slump with a .150/.212/.308 slash line since Sunday, May 1. He cannot be started with confidence until he turns it around at the dish.
