Giants | Marlon Byrd out of lineup Friday

Fri, 02 Oct 2015 17:45:03 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Marlon Byrd is not in the starting lineup against Colorado Rockies SP Kyle Kendrick Friday, Oct. 2. OF Jarrett Parker will bat sixth and play right field.

Fantasy Tip: The Giants do not want Byrd ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) to receive 15 plate appearances between now and the end of the regular season, in order to avoid having to pay his $8 million option for next year, so he is a risky FantasyScore play this weekend. Parker ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) is batting .364 with four home runs and nine RBIs in 22 at-bats over the past week and is an excellent value option in FantasyScore.

Giants | Angel Pagan, Brandon Crawford sitting

Thu, 01 Oct 2015 10:48:20 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan and SS Brandon Crawford are not in the lineup against Los Angeles Dodgers left-handed SP Brett Anderson Thursday, Oct. 1. OF Jarrett Parker is starting in center field and batting sixth, while SS Nick Noonan is at shortstop and is hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Parker ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) is a worth a look as a value pick on FantasyScore, but the fact that he's facing a lefty makes him even more shaky. He has six home runs and 13 RBI in just 38 at-bats for the Giants. Ignore Noonan ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) everywhere.

Giants | Alejandro De Aza out of Sunday lineup

Sun, 27 Sep 2015 11:13:47 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Alejandro De Aza is not starting Sunday, Sept. 27, against the Oakland Athletics. OF Jarrett Parker is in left field and hitting seventh against Athletics SP Sean Nolin.

Fantasy Tip: This is the second day in a row De Aza ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) is sitting, both times because a lefty was on the hill for Oakland. Parker ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) is blazing at bat with a .462-5-10 line in the last week and the team may be looking at him as an option for 2016.

Giants | Jarrett Parker in elite company

Sat, 26 Sep 2015 19:12:21 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Jarrett Parker went 3-for-5 with three home runs and seven RBI in a 14-10 win over the Oakland Athletics Saturday, Sept. 26, becoming the first Giants player since Willie Mays to have at least three home runs and seven RBI in a game.

Fantasy Tip: Parker ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) has now homered in three straight games and has six homers in 14 career games. He won't keep up his current pace forever, but he makes a great source of cap relief at FantasyScore until he cools off.

Giants | Angel Pagan returns to lineup

Sat, 26 Sep 2015 11:10:34 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan will bat leadoff and play center field against Oakland Athletics SP Barry Zito Saturday, Sept. 26. OF Jarrett Parker, who played center field Friday, Sept. 25, will play left field Saturday, while OF Alejandro De Aza receives the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Pagan ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) is 2-for-6 with a solo home run in his career versus Zito and is hitting .305 with three home runs and eight RBIs during the month of September. He is a solid value play in FantasyScore today.

Giants | Angel Pagan out of lineup Friday

Fri, 25 Sep 2015 17:24:17 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan is not in the starting lineup against Oakland Athletics SP Sonny Gray Friday, Sept. 25. OF Jarrett Parker will bat seventh and play center field.

Fantasy Tip: Remove Pagan ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) from your fantasy lineups. Parker ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) has played well in very limited action, going 5-for-10 with a pair of home runs and four RBIs since being recalled earlier this month. He might be worth a flier in FantasyScore tonight.

Giants | Gregor Blanco placed on concussion DL

Wed, 10 Jun 2015 18:57:20 -0700

The San Francisco Giants placed OF Gregor Blanco (concussion) on the 7-day concussion disabled list Wednesday, June 10. The team recalled OF Jarrett Parker from Triple-A Sacramento to take his roster spot.

Fantasy Tip: With Blanco sidelined at least a week and Hunter Pence on the shelf, Parker could be a nice short-term speculative pick in NL-only standard fantasy leagues. Parker also could be a decent low-end play in FantasyScore if he gets regular time.

Giants | Make roster moves

Fri, 01 Aug 2014 12:25:33 -0700

San Francisco Giants INF Matt Duffy and OF Jarrett Parker had their contracts purchased from Double-A Richmond Friday, August 1. The transactions correspond with OF Tyler Colvin and 2B Dan Uggla being designated for assignment.

Fantasy Tip: Take a wait-and-see approach with Duffy and Parker. They could gain NL-only value, if they can get semi-regular playing time. Duffy has shown solid contact skills with Richmond, whereas Parker has more pop. Colvin and Uggla are only worth a roster spot in the deepest NL-only formats.
