Rams | Todd Gurley runs over 49ers

Thu, 21 Sep 2017 20:54:21 -0700

Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley finished with 28 carries for 113 yards and two touchdowns and added five catches for 36 yards and a score in a 41-39 win over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Gurley now has as many touchdowns in three games this year as he did in all of 2016. He is quickly looking like a weekly RB1 option in all formats once again.

Rams | Todd Gurley scores pair of touchdowns

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 21:23:24 -0700

Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley rushed 16 times for 88 yards and a touchdown in Week 2 against the Redskins and he added three receptions for 48 yards and his first-career receiving score on four targets.

Fantasy Tip: Gurley rushed for just six touchdowns in 2016, but he already has three total scores through two games this season. He has the potential to be an elite fantasy option and he is taking some big steps forward toward realizing that potential this season. The Rams meet the 49ers on the road Thursday in Week 3.

Rams | Not much help for Todd Gurley

Sat, 16 Sep 2017 20:56:50 -0700

Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley averaged 0.84 yards before first contact in Week 1, which ranked 37th among 41 running backs. "We've just got to be more physical, whether me, just everybody," Gurley said.

Fantasy Tip: The stat indicates that Gurley didn't have a lot of help from his offensive line in the opener, but his involvement in the passing game and the performance of Jared Goff were encouraging for his long-term prospects. He should at least be a volume-based RB2 against the Redskins in Week 2.

Rams | Todd Gurley inefficient in win

Sun, 10 Sep 2017 19:35:35 -0700

Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley carried 19 times for 40 yards and a touchdown and caught five passes for 56 yards in a 46-9 win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Despite an improved offense line and a solid game from Jared Goff, Gurley still found running room tough to come by. On the plus side, he was more involved in the passing game. His heavy workload should have him flirting with RB1 status against Washington in Week 2.

Rams | Todd Gurley sits out dress rehearsal

Sat, 26 Aug 2017 17:39:46 -0700

Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley was rested for the team's third preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday, Aug. 26.

Fantasy Tip: There has been no mention of an injury with Gurley, so this move was likely made with an eye on preserving the Rams' offensive centerpiece for the regular season. With an improved supporting cast around him, a sharp offensive mind calling plays and no realistic option to push him for playing time, Gurley makes a fine selection in the middle of the second round of most drafts.

Rams | Todd Gurley marred by inefficiency last year

Tue, 22 Aug 2017 18:29:57 -0700

Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley ranked 41st in fantasy efficiency among 42 qualifying running backs in 2016. He finished last in PPR fantasy scoring per touch, and second to last in standard fantasy points per touch as well as offensive yards per touch. Gurley ranked 39th in standard fantasy points per contest and 22nd in PPR points per game, which was his highest ranking of any efficiency category.

Fantasy Tip: You can thank Jeff Fisher's predictable brand of football (and a lack of overall talent) for those numbers. Life should get better, albeit possibly a marginal improvement, for Gurley in 2017. The Rams will be more diverse and dynamic under Sean McVay. In theory, Jared Goff will have taken a step forward, too, by season's end. Gurley is a shaky RB1 and better drafted as a second in all formats.

Rams | Todd Gurley to see more receiving action

Wed, 02 Aug 2017 07:16:10 -0700

Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley is expected to see more action in the passing game after the injury to RB Lance Dunbar (knee). He needs to improve as a pass blocker to be used more often on third downs. "When you have a special player like Todd, you want to continue to find ways to get him involved but also be mindful of, 'What is that fine balance between him being at his best and not wearing him out?'" head coach Sean McVay said. "That is something that we're continuing to find out."

Fantasy Tip: Gurley has been below the league average in yards per rush in 21 of his 28 starts after taking the league by storm once he touched the field. Gurley is a low-end RB1 with significant upside.

Rams | Todd Gurley 'loving' new offense

Sun, 09 Jul 2017 11:41:23 -0700

Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley has "definitely been loving" his exposure to new head coach Sean McVay's style of offense.

Fantasy Tip: After working with first-time play-callers Rob Boras and Frank Cignetti in his first two pro seasons, McVay's "wealth" of knowledge and experience must seem like a breath of fresh air for Gurley. Expect the Rams to lean on Gurley as much as possible in 2017 as McVay attempts to find out what he has in the passing game. With some much-needed improvements along the offensive line, Gurley should be able to return to RB1 status this fall.

Rams | Todd Gurley, o-line on same page this spring

Wed, 21 Jun 2017 10:20:07 -0700

Los Angeles Rams OL Rodger Saffold told ESPN's Alden Gonzalez he saw improvement in the communication with RB Todd Gurley during the offseason program. "It's more just kind of figuring out the speed out of the backfield that (Gurley) needs. Once you get that down, then you kind of see the mesh of what we're trying to get done. … I think he's attacking where we want the ball to go a lot better. And I think he's letting things develop, too. Letting things develop on the inside, but on the outside he's really pushing that edge, and it's opening up some things for him," Saffold said.

Fantasy Tip: Gurley pressed the issue at times last year, but who can blame him? The Rams are hoping the veteran savvy of new left tackle Andrew Whitworth and center John Sullivan can help fix the team's issues up front. Gurley may lose some passing-down snaps to Lance Dunbar, but he is a prime rebound candidate if he can learn to trust his line again. He's shaping up to be a potential steal at his current mid-second round ADP.

Rams | Fewer catches for Todd Gurley?

Thu, 01 Jun 2017 13:40:24 -0700

Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley may not be counted on as much in the passing game this year with the addition of RB Lance Dunbar, in the opinion of's Alden Gonzalez. The Rams want Gurley's focus to be on the running game. He was the focus of opposing defenses last year while only averaging 3.2 yards per carry.

Fantasy Tip: Gurley can only go downhill after a tough sophomore campaign in which he only ran for 885 yards on 278 carries. He did see an uptick in receiving, but he has to re-establish himself as a runner this season. Despite his 2016 struggles, Gurley remains a low-end RB1 option.
