Panthers | New targets for Cam Newton?

Fri, 23 Feb 2018 18:14:34 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess, WR Curtis Samuel and WR Damiere Byrd are the only receivers who should feel safe entering the 2018 season, according to David Newton of ESPN.com, and Newton believes the receiving corps could undergo a complete overhaul.

Fantasy Tip: The Panthers could use a true No. 1 receiver, but unless they make a move in free agency, Funchess would be the go-to guy with WR2 potential in 2018.

Panthers | Devin Funchess fights through injury

Sun, 07 Jan 2018 17:16:59 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (ankle, shoulder) fought through multiple injuries in the NFC Wild Card Game against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, Jan. 7, finishing with four receptions for 79 yards. He rolled his ankle early in the game, and his pre-existing left shoulder injury caused him to play with his arm hanging limp at times during the game.

Fantasy Tip: Funchess showed a lot of toughness fighting through not one, but at least two injuries. He struggled down the stretch in December, but looks like he could be a legitimate target for Cam Newton, who is desperately in need of NFL caliber receivers going forward.

Panthers | Devin Funchess will play

Sun, 07 Jan 2018 12:29:45 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) is officially active for the Wild Card playoff game against the New Orleans Saints.

Fantasy Tip: Funchess should have a big role in the passing game but will be facing a solid Saints pass defense. He can be a No. 2 or No. 3 fantasy receiver for owners.

Panthers | Devin Funchess questionable for WC round

Fri, 05 Jan 2018 10:20:27 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) is listed as questionable for the team's Wild-Card Game versus the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, Jan. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Funchess followed his recent usual routine of missing practice Wednesday and Thursday before returning for Friday's session. He has not missed a game all season despite working through his shoulder injury and that trend is not expected to change now. Funchess moves around the formation enough to avoid shadow coverage from Marshon Lattimore, but the quality and depth of the Saints' secondary as well as Cam Newton's inconsistent accuracy are reasons to be pessimistic about him this week.

Panthers | Devin Funchess' absences precautionary

Thu, 04 Jan 2018 11:04:39 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) admitted his practice absences of late have been precautionary.

Fantasy Tip: It makes sense that the Panthers would take it easy with their top wideout before the playoffs begin. Despite missing practice this week he will be good to go for Sunday's contest. View him as a WR2 for now in regards to the 2018 season.

Panthers | Devin Funchess sidelined again

Thu, 04 Jan 2018 09:49:00 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) was not able to practice Thursday, Jan. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Funchess has missed practices before because of his shoulder injury and still played, so he should still be able to go this weekend. The Panthers will need him, too, against a much improved New Orleans Saints defense and standout rookie Marshon Lattimore. As for next year, Funchess sits among WR2s as Carolina's best wide receiver.

Panthers | Devin Funchess misses practice

Wed, 03 Jan 2018 10:39:13 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Jan. 3.

Fantasy Tip: He appears to be following the same schedule he has since suffering the injury. Considering he did not miss a game during the regular season, he seems like a good bet to be ready to roll for the wild-card game against the New Orleans Saints. Funchess figures to have his hands full against Marshon Lattimore and should be a decent if unspectacular fantasy play this weekend.
