Cardinals | David Johnson cleared for activities

Wed, 07 Feb 2018 21:24:53 -0800

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson (wrist) has been fully cleared to resume all football-related activities.

Fantasy Tip: No one had it worse in 2017 than owners of David Johnson, who was lost for the year in only the third quarter of the first game of the NFL campaign. Fortunately, he'll at least be 100 percent for the start of next season. The only thing is that the offense Johnson will be playing for appears murky right now -- the Cardinals have a new head coach and it remains to be seen who will start under center for them in 2018.

Cardinals | David Johnson's wrist is healed

Thu, 18 Jan 2018 17:26:53 -0800

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson (wrist) has his strength and full range of motion back with his injured wrist, which is now healed. He's focused mostly on making sure he's "ready to play" in 2018 and that he is as healthy as possible.

Fantasy Tip: There was arguably no bigger tragedy in fantasy football this year than the unfortunate season-ending injury to Johnson, who was one of the first guys off the board in pretty much all drafts. Making matters worse, the 26-year-old will be returning to unfamiliar surroundings, having a new quarterback and head coach when the new campaign kicks off. Regardless, Johnson should remain one of the highest-ranked running backs going into next season.

Cardinals | David Johnson may not return this year

Wed, 22 Nov 2017 12:42:55 -0800

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson (wrist) has not made the progress he was expected to make in his rehabilitation and is not expected to return this season, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Fantasy Tip: It's hard to release Johnson with anything other than definitive news, but this is as close as we've gotten. It makes sense for the Cardinals to keep Johnson sidelined in a lost season anyway. If you still have him rostered, he can be dropped in redraft leagues.

Cardinals | David Johnson disposes of cast

Mon, 13 Nov 2017 19:45:45 -0800

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson (wrist) announced that the cast on his left wrist was removed Monday, Nov. 13, and he will now begin rehab to restore strength and range of motion. Johnson has previously said that he would like to return this season "no matter the team's record."

Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners of Johnson have to love his desire to play before the conclusion of the campaign, but it's hard to see him on the field if the Cardinals are mathematically eliminated from playoff contention by the time he's ready to suit up again. With Carson Palmer also out, this is becoming a lost season for the club, so it would seem more likely than not that the club opts to keep him sidelined if there's nothing on the line.

Cardinals | David Johnson to have cast removed

Thu, 09 Nov 2017 18:30:12 -0800

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson (wrist) is scheduled to have his cast removed Monday, Nov. 13, and he said he is "optimistic" that he will be able to return at some point this season.

Fantasy Tip: While Johnson is hoping to return this year, the Cardinals have already said the running back is likely to miss the remainder of the season. In the meantime, Arizona looks set to feed Adrian Peterson all the carries he can handle.

Cardinals | David Johnson unlikely to return

Tue, 31 Oct 2017 14:00:26 -0700

Updating a previous report, Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson (wrist) is not expected to return this season, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Fantasy Tip: The Adrian Peterson acquistion makes that much more sense if Arizona wasn't planning on having Johnson back at all this year. Peterson will continue to be the Cardinals' main toter of the rock, with Andre Ellington and Kerwynn Williams spelling him here and there. Peterson is a recommended start in Week 9 in an elite matchup versus the San Francisco 49ers.

Cardinals | David Johnson not a lock to return?

Tue, 31 Oct 2017 10:06:09 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson (wrist) is reportedly doing well in his rehab, but general manager Steve Keim wasn't overly optimistic - per Darren Urban of AZCardinals.com - about his ability to return to the field anytime soon. "We will continue to monitor (his recovery) to see if he can come back this season," Keim said.

Fantasy Tip: The injuries to Johnson and Carson Palmer have helped turn the Arizona offense into a sinking ship, and there is plenty of reason to believe the team will be too far out of the playoff race by the time either player is able to return to justify bringing them back. While owners can continue holding out hope Johnson may be able to return by Thanksgiving or shortly thereafter, the odds of that take a hit with each passing defeat.

Cardinals | David Johnson unsure about return

Fri, 27 Oct 2017 11:32:29 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson (wrist) is still optimistic about returning to the field this season but admitted he is unsure if that will happen. "I hope I do get back, but I really don't know. The wrist is a complicated limb and it's tough to say, just because I still have this cast on. I haven't even started rehab so I don't know yet," Johnson said.

Fantasy Tip: There has been speculation Johnson would be able to return by Thanksgiving, but it appears Johnson and his medical team still don't know if that is a possibility. Owners who have waited this long for a return should probably continue to do so this point, but there is no guarantee such a decision will pay off. Adrian Peterson figures to be locked into a heavy workload in the meantime.

Cardinals | David Johnson could return in late November

Wed, 11 Oct 2017 17:51:36 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson's (wrist) earliest return date could be around Thanksgiving, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson is currently on the Reserve/Injured list and is still six to eight weeks away from playing again. Adrian Peterson and Andre Ellington will see time at running back with Peterson receiving most of the carries and Ellington being used in the passing game. Ellington can be a low-end No. 2 running back or flex option in point-per-reception leagues, while Peterson can be considered a flex option.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer expects different offense

Thu, 14 Sep 2017 19:25:38 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer said he expects the offense to change "drastically" without RB David Johnson (wrist).

Fantasy Tip: Even without Johnson, the Arizona offense could be in for a good showing in Week 2 against an Indianapolis defense that was torched by Jared Goff in the opener. Palmer could be a sneaky QB1.
