Cardinals | David Johnson scores Friday

Fri, 17 Aug 2018 21:09:39 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson rushed six times for 22 yards and a touchdown and caught one pass for five yards in a 20-15 preseason win over the New Orleans Saints Friday, Aug. 17.

Fantasy Tip: As long as Johnson stays healthy, he should return to his workhorse role in the Arizona offense. Even coming off the injury, he's a top-five option at his position.

Cardinals | David Johnson likely to play more

Mon, 13 Aug 2018 20:25:24 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson was limited to just two snaps in the preseason opener, posting a pair of 14-yard runs. He said earlier in the preseason that he didn't think he needed to play much if at all in the preseason to get ready. His head coach, Steve Wilks, disagrees. "David didn't play last year," Wilks said Monday, Aug. 13. "And you talk about the timing. I think it's important he plays quite a bit. When I say quite a bit, I'm talking my standards." Wilks clarified and added that his standards do not necessarily mean playing into the second or third quarter, but it would be seeing more than just two offensive snaps.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson is coming off a major injury, but he looked to have nice burst in his cameo. He is a fantasy stud, too, because he is expected to be the workhorse in a backfield with unspectacular backups like Chase Edmonds, D.J. Foster, Sherman Badie and T.J. Logan. The club likely won't expose him to too much unnecessary contact, especially considering their lack of depth at the position. Fantasy owners hope he'll see just a series or two before the season to preserve him for when the games matter for real.

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson had two carries for 28 yards against the Los Angeles Chargers in the preseason Saturday, Aug. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson took both carries for 14 yards, and although he is coming off an injury, his every-down, workhorse role in the Arizona offense makes him a top-five fantasy option at his position.

Mon, 23 Jul 2018 07:30:20 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson reported to training camp Monday, July 23.

Fantasy Tip: DJ was looking for a new deal, and he'll have plenty motivation to return to his RB1 status this season. Sam Bradford relies heavily on running backs. Johnson slots into the midrange of the RB1 pack but could return to the upper echelon.

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson has a good chance to receive a contract extension before the start of the regular season, in the opinion of NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

Cardinals | David Johnson out with undisclosed injury

Fri, 08 Jun 2018 06:16:01 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson (undisclosed) missed practice time this week with an undisclosed injury. "It's the offseason, and I'm not going to really indulge in injuries or things like that," head coach Steve Wilks said.

Cardinals | David Johnson with lofty goals

Thu, 17 May 2018 07:54:41 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson (wrist) said his wrist feels great, and he's aiming for 1,000 rushing yards and 1,000 receiving yards.

Fantasy Tip: The team will be deploying a fullback this year, which will give him an added layer of protection. They'll have to prove that they can move the ball downfield to keep defenses honest, though. Sam Bradford throws a ton of short passes, and DJ should be an RB1 as long as he's healthy.
