Cowboys | Rod Smith posts big stat line in win

Sun, 10 Dec 2017 17:29:17 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB Rod Smith rushed six times for 47 yards and a touchdown in Week 14 against the New York Giants and he added five receptions for a game-high 113 yards and another score on his five targets.

Fantasy Tip: Smith looked great, rushing for 7.8 yards per attempt to just 3.3 per carry for Alfred Morris. He likely will eat into the touches of Morris in Week 15, the final game before Ezekiel Elliott returns from his six-game suspension. He could have a one-week window to work as a RB3 or flex option for fantasy owners.

Cowboys | Rod Smith big part of passing game

Sun, 10 Dec 2017 13:17:49 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB Rod Smith caught five passes for 113 yards and one touchdown against the New York Giants in Week 14. He also rushed for 47 yards and one touchdown on six carries during the game.

Fantasy Tip: Smith has received limited touches while Ezekiel Elliott has been suspended, but this was his first big-time performance of the season. He may see some more touches against the Oakland Raiders next week and could be a flex option in leagues.

Cowboys | Rod Smith scores again

Thu, 30 Nov 2017 21:15:18 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB Rod Smith gained 27 yards on 10 carries and scored a touchdown against the Washington Redskins on Thursday, Nov. 30.

Fantasy Tip: It was Alfred Morris' world Thursday night, but Smith still found the end zone for a second consecutive week. While he's clearly behind Morris in the pecking order, Smith could be a desperation play in larger leagues.

Cowboys | Rod Smith finds the end zone

Thu, 23 Nov 2017 18:20:32 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB Rod Smith rushed nine times for 41 yards and a touchdown and caught two passes for seven yards in a 28-6 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers Thursday, Nov. 23.

Fantasy Tip: Smith split carries with Alfred Morris, and the Dallas offense delivered another dud without Ezekiel Elliott leading the rushing attack. Smith is a RB4 until Elliott returns.

Cowboys | Rod Smith a sneaky play

Wed, 22 Nov 2017 08:08:41 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB Rod Smith has a good matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers Thursday, Nov. 23, as the Chargers have allowed the most receptions to running backs the last five weeks. The Chargers have been a bottom-five team against running backs during the stretch.

Fantasy Tip: Smith's numbers won't wow you, but the Bolts have allowed backs to catch 10 passes per game the last four games. Alfred Morris will not be a factor in the receiving game, and Darren McFadden was inactive last week in favor of Smith. If you're in a PPR league, Smith is an under-the-radar flex option.

Cowboys | Rod Smith to have bigger role?

Thu, 09 Nov 2017 19:03:22 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB Rod Smith is expected to receive touches while RB Ezekiel Elliott is suspended, and running backs coach Gary Brown believes Smith can be an every-down back in the NFL.

Fantasy Tip: Alfred Morris is expected to be the starter, but Smith and Darren McFadden are also going to be in the mix. Despite the praise from his position coach, Smith is no more than a lottery ticket to stash on the end of your bench in deeper leagues.

Cowboys | Alfred Morris expected to start

Thu, 09 Nov 2017 12:55:44 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB Alfred Morris is expected to be the starting running back against Atlanta Falcons in Week 10 because of RB Ezekiel Elliott's suspension. RB Rod Smith would serve as the No. 2 running back and be a significant part of the game plan. RB Darren McFadden could be active as the No. 3 running back.

Fantasy Tip: Morris has posted solid numbers in his limited playing time this week and should receive most of the carries in the running game. He can be considered a No. 2 running back or flex option in all leagues. Smith could be a flex option in deeper leagues if he does receive a decent amount of touches.

Cowboys | Darren McFadden the No. 3 back

Thu, 02 Nov 2017 18:28:19 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Darren McFadden will be the No. 3 running back behind RB Alfred Morris and RB Rod Smith against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 9, but all three backs are expected to receive touches.

Fantasy Tip: McFadden is worth a speculative stash at this point, especially in PPR formats, but Morris is the only Dallas back worth starting in Week 9, and he is only a flex candidate.

Cowboys | Rod Smith working ahead of Alfred Morris

Sun, 30 Jul 2017 12:12:20 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Rod Smith continues to work ahead of Alfred Morris as the third running back, according to ESPN's Todd Archer.

Fantasy Tip: Archer reports this was the case of minicamp as well. If it holds throughout August, Morris will almost certainly be released. He is unlikely to have any significant fantasy value in 2017 regardless of where he ends up.
