Cowboys | Ezekiel Elliott to see more work as receiver?

Sun, 10 Jun 2018 13:36:35 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott should be in line for even more touches - especially in the passing game - following the departures of Jason Witten and Dez Bryant, according to John Machota of The Dallas Morning News.

Fantasy Tip: As long as Elliott stays healthy and out of trouble, he was always going to be a good bet to blow right past the 242 carries and 26 receptions he finished with in 2017. With Dallas reinforcing its offensive line in the offseason and losing its top two threats in the passing game, Elliott could push 50 catches in addition to the 300-plus carries he is almost certain to see. Owners should not hesitate taking him with a top-five pick this summer.

Cowboys | Ezekiel Elliott strong in return

Mon, 25 Dec 2017 04:02:12 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott had 118 combined rushing and receiving yards in a Week 16 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Elliott tallied 97 yards on the ground and 21 through the air. It was his return from a six-game suspension.

Fantasy Tip: Elliott showed everything in a strong first half for his return, but QB Dak Prescott's play was off in this game and it showed. Elliott is still a solid RB1 option moving into the offseason.

Cowboys | Big workload for Ezekiel Elliott?

Fri, 22 Dec 2017 21:05:15 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott is expected to receive "significant touches" against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 16, offensive coordinator Scott Linehan said Thursday, Dec. 21, and owner Jerry Jones said he feels Elliott could handle 20 to 25 carries.

Fantasy Tip: The Cowboys are in a must-win situation as they try to secure a playoff spot, so don't be surprised if Elliott immediately takes on a workhorse role in his return from suspension. Treat him as a RB1 in Week 16.

Cowboys | Ezekiel Elliott back at practice

Wed, 20 Dec 2017 20:54:59 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott was back at practice Wednesday, Dec. 20, his first time being on the practice field since Nov. 3. The plan is for him to "take his normal turns in practice during the week and take over the Cowboys running game" in their game Sunday, Dec. 24, versus the Seattle Seahawks.

Fantasy Tip: Under normal circumstances, Elliott is as reliable as any RB1 in the league, but with how well Alfred Morris and Rod Smith played in his absence, it's reasonable to believe that the former Ohio State product may not see his usual number of touches that owners have grown accustomed to. Then again, the Cowboys are fighting for their playoff lives, which could lead to Elliott getting the rock as much as possible. The latter outcome seems to be the more likely one.

Cowboys | Ezekiel Elliott not appealing

Wed, 15 Nov 2017 14:11:27 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott has withdrawn his appeal for his six-game suspension, according to a source. Elliott will serve the suspension and return to the Cowboys against the Seattle Seahawks Dec. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Elliott didn't have much of a chance of winning his appeal anyway, and the appeal process may have lasted longer than the rest of the regular season anyway. Alfred Morris will see the majority of carries out of the backfield, but Rod Smith is a PPR sleeper after catching four passes last week while splitting time with Morris.

Cowboys | Ezekiel Elliott training outside U.S.

Sun, 12 Nov 2017 06:53:47 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott has reportedly left the country in order to refocus and train in an undisclosed location. He will miss the next four games and could wind up serving all six games of his suspension before returning to action Dec. 24, although he has an expedited appeal in the Second Circuit court scheduled for Dec. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Alfred Morris will be the starter for Dallas in Elliott's absence and should be viewed as an RB2 in most fantasy formats. RBs Darren McFadden and Rod Smith will also see time in the backfield and should possess some value in deeper seasonal leagues.

Cowboys | Rod Smith to have bigger role?

Thu, 09 Nov 2017 19:03:22 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB Rod Smith is expected to receive touches while RB Ezekiel Elliott is suspended, and running backs coach Gary Brown believes Smith can be an every-down back in the NFL.

Fantasy Tip: Alfred Morris is expected to be the starter, but Smith and Darren McFadden are also going to be in the mix. Despite the praise from his position coach, Smith is no more than a lottery ticket to stash on the end of your bench in deeper leagues.

Cowboys | Ezekiel Elliott will have another appeal

Thu, 09 Nov 2017 14:35:28 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott has an expedited appeal scheduled Friday, December 1 in the Second Circuit court.

Fantasy Tip: It just will not stop with Elliott's suspension process. We do know that he will not be playing for at least the next four games. In that time, Alfred Morris is the most valuable running back in Dallas, but Darren McFadden and Rod Smith could change that before season's end.

Cowboys | Ezekiel Elliott does not practice

Thu, 09 Nov 2017 14:09:06 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott (non-injury) did not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Elliott is currently suspended for six games and will miss Week 10 unless things change. Alfred Morris likely will be the starting running back for the Cowboys and should be considered a No. 2 running back or flex option in all league. Rod Smith is also expected to have a role and could be a flex option in deeper leagues.
