Bills | Jonathan Williams a surprise cut

Sun, 03 Sep 2017 11:19:19 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Jonathan Williams was waived Sunday, Sept. 3.

Fantasy Tip: This move leaves the bills perilously thin at running back behind LeSean McCoy, as fullback Mike Tolbert and journeyman Joe Banyard appear to be the main backups for now. Considering McCoy's history of soft-tissue injuries, it is very likely the Bills are on the verge of signing a running back in the very near future. Williams will almost certainly find a new home, but being unable to stick with a running back-needy team like Buffalo does not speak well for his long-term future.

Bills | Jonathan Williams practices

Fri, 11 Aug 2017 15:34:33 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Jonathan Williams (hamstring) participated in practice Friday, Aug. 11, even though he suffered a hamstring injury during the first preseason game.

Fantasy Tip: Williams appears to be on track to be the No. 2 running back for the Bills this season. He will only see limited touches as long as LeSean McCoy is healthy and probably should only be selected as a possible handcuff to McCoy.

Bills | Jonathan Williams has hamstring issue

Thu, 10 Aug 2017 19:25:57 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Jonathan Williams (hamstring) suffered a hamstring injury in a 17-10 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in the preseason Thursday, Aug. 10.

Fantasy Tip: As the primary backup to an aging running back in a run-heavy offense, Williams should be considered one of the top handcuffs this season. LeSean McCoy owners should try to grab him.

Bills | Buffalo backing Jonathan Williams as RB2

Sun, 30 Jul 2017 11:35:24 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Jonathan Williams will get "every opportunity" to win the backup job behind LeSean McCoy, according to WKBW's Joe Buscaglia.

Fantasy Tip: The main reason Williams is being given every opportunity to win the backup job is because Buffalo has only Joe Banyard, Cedric O'Neal and Mike Tolbert as his major competition. Williams should be considered one more important handcuffs in fantasy, if only because McCoy has a recent history with soft-tissue injuries and just turned 29 earlier this month.

Bills | Jonathan Williams won't be disciplined

Thu, 29 Jun 2017 08:35:50 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Jonathan Williams won't be disciplined by the NFL under the substance abuse policy. Williams was recently found not guilty in a case involving a DWI.

Fantasy Tip: Williams is expected to be the team's second running back behind Shady McCoy with Mike Gillislee bolting to New England. He's worth a late-round flyer and could be an RB4 if McCoy's workload is scaled back at all.
