Dolphins | Kenyan Drake ready for breakout?

Thu, 10 May 2018 10:13:16 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Kenyan Drake is ready to "bust out" this season, according to head coach Adam Gase.

Fantasy Tip: We can only assume that "bust out" and "break out" are the same thing. Gase is right, though, Drake is a prime breakout candidate heading into 2018. His main competition will be soon-to-be 35-year-old Frank Gore, but Gore should primarily be used in short-yardage and goal-line scenarios. Drake sits comfortably in RB2 territory with added PPR appeal.

Dolphins | Kenyan Drake bulking up

Sat, 14 Apr 2018 18:56:33 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Kenyan Drake said Friday, April 13, that he has added more than five pounds this offseason to handle a full season as the starting back.

Fantasy Tip: The Dolphins added Frank Gore during free agency, but Drake should still be the lead back. After impressing as the starter down the stretch last season, he's a RB2 candidate heading into 2018.

Dolphins | Kenyan Drake third-most elusive RB in '17

Thu, 22 Feb 2018 23:24:12 -0800

Miami Dolphins RB Kenyan Drake ranked as the third-most elusive running back under an NFL "Next Gen Stats" metric that measured yardage gained after defenders got within a yard of the ball-carrier. Drake finished third (4.55 yards), behind only New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara (4.76) and Kansas City Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt (4.63).

Fantasy Tip: Drake definitely showed something special last year after the team jettisoned Jay Ajayi right before the trade deadline. Overall, the second-year tailback rushed for 644 yards on 133 rush attempts -- good for an impressive 4.8 yards per carry -- to go with three touchdowns. He also accumulated 32 catches in the passing game for 239 yards and one receiving score. Assuming he's the full-time starter next year, Drake is looking like a solid RB2.

Dolphins | Kenyan Drake has mediocre showing

Sun, 24 Dec 2017 17:36:06 -0800

Miami Dolphins RB Kenyan Drake rushed 13 times for 57 yards in Week 16 against the Kansas City Chiefs and he did not have a catch on three targets.

Fantasy Tip: Drake is wrapping up the season as the team's bellcow, but he isn't doing a lot with his opportunity. It's uncertain if the team has seen enough from Drake to rely on him as the top ball carrier heading into 2017.

Dolphins | Kenyan Drake being worked too hard?

Thu, 21 Dec 2017 10:33:25 -0800

Miami Dolphins RB Kenyan Drake likely wouldn't be running as much as he has if RB Damien Williams (shoulder) were healthy, according to offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen.

Fantasy Tip: Drake has been up to the task with Williams sidelined. He has averaged 149 total yards over his last three games, scoring twice. Drake should see plenty of work this week, too, if Williams is still out. He's a borderline RB1.

Dolphins | Kenyan Drake totals 113 yards, TD

Sun, 17 Dec 2017 16:57:39 -0800

Miami Dolphins RB Kenyan Drake rushed 16 times for 78 yards and a touchdown in Week 15 against the Buffalo Bills, and he posted six receptions for 35 yards on 11 targets.

Fantasy Tip: Drake has excelled as the bellcow since Jay Ajayi was traded to Philadelphia and Damien Williams went down to injury. He can be trusted as a low-end WR2 or flex fantasy option in all leagues heading into Week 16 in Kansas City.

Dolphins | Kenyan Drake outstanding in MNF debut

Mon, 11 Dec 2017 20:58:16 -0800

Miami Dolphins RB Kenyan Drake rushed for 114 yards on 25 carries in the team's Week 14 victory Monday, Dec. 11, versus the New England Patriots. He also hauled in five of six targets for 79 receiving yards.

Fantasy Tip: It's becoming clearer why Miami jettisoned ex-starting running back Jay Ajayi for virtually nothing. Drake has looked terrific since moving up the depth chart, and he's even now logged his first two career 100-yard efforts in back-to-back games. Even when Damien Williams returns from injury, Drake should still remain very busy. If you were fortunate enough to pluck the second-year back off the waiver wire, just keep riding him.
