Seattle Mariners OF Seth Smith (ankle) was scratched from the lineup Sunday, March 29, due to a sore ankle. Manager Lloyd McClendon said Smith's injury was minor.

Fantasy Tip: Smith will be part of a right-field platoon this spring, and it sounds like this injury isn't serious. Smith still is worth a late-round selection in AL drafts as he could see some decent playing time.

The Seattle Mariners have asked Detroit Tigers hitting coach Lloyd McClendon for a second interview for their vacant managerial position, according to sources, and he met with team officials Sunday, Nov. 3. Chip Hale is set for a second interview Monday, Nov. 4. The M's are also believed to be considering Tim Wallach and Joey Cora for the job, and Rick Renteria is also a finalist. Ron Wotus and Dave Valle aren't believed to have made it to the second round of interviews.

The Detroit Tigers interviewed San Diego Padres bench coach Rick Renteria for their vacant managerial position Thursday, Oct. 31. The Tigers have already interviewed Lloyd McClendon, Tim Wallach and Brad Ausmus and are expected to interview Boston Red Sox bench coach Torey Lovullo soon.

Los Angeles Dodgers third base coach Tim Wallach will interview for the Seattle Mariners' vacant managerial position, according to sources. Wallach has already interviewed for the manager's position with the Detroit Tigers this offseason. The M's have also looked at San Francisco Giants bench coach Ron Wotus, Oakland Athletics bench coach Chip Hale, San Diego Padres bench coach Rick Renteria and Detroit Tigers hitting coach Lloyd McClendon.
