Detroit Tigers RP Octavio Dotel (forearm) visited Dr. James Andrews this month and was given a platelet-rich plasma injection, as well as a rehab schedule. He will turn 40 in November, and will be a free agent, but he is hopeful of returning to pitch in 2014.

The Detroit Tigers have transferred RP Luis Marte (shoulder) from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list. They have also recalled the injury rehabilitation assignment of RP Octavio Dotel (forearm, elbow, thigh) but expect him to miss the remainder of the season.

Detroit Tigers RP Octavio Dotel (elbow, thigh) had his minor-league rehab appearance with Triple-A Toledo cut short Tuesday, Aug. 27, when he was struck by a comebacker. He was hit on the thigh, and forced to leave the game. There is no word on the severity of the injury.

Detroit Tigers SP Anibal Sanchez (shoulder) has been scratched from his scheduled start Sunday, June 9, due to shoulder stiffness. The Tigers will purchase the contract of P Jose Alvarez from Triple-A Toledo following their game against the Cleveland Indians Saturday, June 7, and he will make the start Sunday. To clear space for Alvarez on the 40-man roster, RP Octavio Dotel (elbow) has been transferred from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

Detroit Tigers RP Octavio Dotel (elbow) received a second opinion on his elbow injury from Dr. James Andrews, who agreed with the original diagnosis. There is no structural damage in Dotel's elbow, and he does not need surgery. Dotel is still having issues with his elbow and will not try to throw again for six days.
