Giants | Tim Hudson expected back Sept. 1

Wed, 26 Aug 2015 18:43:54 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Tim Hudson (shoulder) is expected back September 1, and it is possible he might return sooner if the team wants to skip SP Matt Cain in the rotation.

Fantasy Tip: Give Hudson ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) a start or two to knock off the rust before trusting him in FantasyScore again.

Giants | Tim Hudson starting rehab Friday

Wed, 12 Aug 2015 11:30:39 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Tim Hudson (shoulder) is tentatively scheduled to throw a few innings in his first rehab start with Class AAA Sacramento Friday, Aug. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Hudson ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) could take the rotation spot of Ryan Vogelsong when he's ready to return, but the Giants have other options, too, so Hudson could pitch in the bullpen. If he's back in the rotation when he's off the DL, he'll only be useful in deep mixed leagues and at FantasyScore as a sleeper matchup play at home.

Giants | Tim Hudson works in bullpen

Tue, 11 Aug 2015 18:23:25 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Tim Hudson (shoulder) was able to throw a bullpen session Tuesday, Aug. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Hudson ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) might return to the rotation, or he could work out of the bullpen. The final decision has not yet been determined. However, if he works in relief he obviously has no value in FantasyScore, and little to those in NL-only standard formats.

Giants | Tim Hudson could pitch out of bullpen

Sun, 09 Aug 2015 16:03:46 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Tim Hudson (shoulder) is eligible to return from the disabled list Tuesday, Aug. 11, and manager Bruce Bochy said that is when he will decide whether Hudson returns to the rotation or pitches out of the bullpen.

Fantasy Tip: Hudson ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) has been a weak fantasy option for most of the season, and if he ends up in the bullpen, he will have no value at FantasyScore.

Giants | Tim Hudson to disabled list

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 15:38:22 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Tim Hudson (shoulder) was placed on the disabled list Friday, July 31, and he will not rejoin the starting rotation when healthy.

Fantasy Tip: It is safe to drop Hudson in the majority of fantasy leagues, as Mike Leake will replace him in the starting rotation. Still, Hudson could make a few starts before the year is over, so don't write him off completely.

Giants | Tim Hudson bumped from rotation

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 08:12:31 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Tim Hudson will be bumped from the rotation after the Giants acquired SP Mike Leake from the Cincinnati Reds. Leake is 9-5 with a 3.56 ERA in 21 starts this year, including 4-0 with a 0.60 ERA in his last four starts. Leake could join the Giants as early as Friday, July 31.

Fantasy Tip: Hudson can now be dropped in all formats. Leake ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) was already on the rise in fantasy circles before this trade, and his value is now boosted further with this move to a very friendly pitching environment in San Fran. He becomes a much more acceptable play on FantasyScore, too.

Giants | Tim Hudson joins rare group

Sun, 26 Jul 2015 16:48:19 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Tim Hudson allowed three runs on seven hits in five innings in a win over the Oakland Athletics Sunday, July 26, becoming the 15th pitcher to record a win against all 30 major league teams.

Fantasy Tip: Hudson ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) joined a short list of pitchers, but he owns a 4.80 ERA for the year, and doesn't offer much upside at FantasyScore because of his low strikeout totals.

Giants | Tim Hudson to start Monday

Thu, 16 Jul 2015 20:19:31 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Tim Hudson (shoulder) will be activated from the disabled list and start against the San Diego Padres Monday, July 20, according to manager Bruce Bochy.

Fantasy Tip: Hudson ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) has been inconsistent all year, but he does draw a solid matchup against a struggling San Diego offense in his return. For the price, Hudson could be worth gambling on at FantasyScore.

Giants | Jake Peavy activated from DL

Fri, 03 Jul 2015 10:58:33 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Jake Peavy (back) was activated from the 15-day disabled list Friday, July 3. SP Tim Hudson (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right shoulder strain.

Fantasy Tip: Peavy ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) faces a talented Washington Nationals lineup and doesn't have a lot of upside on FantasyScore. Hudson isn't worth stashing except maybe in NL-only leagues if you have the space.

Giants | Tim Hudson could land on DL

Wed, 01 Jul 2015 16:12:38 -0700

Updating a previous report, San Francisco Giants SP Tim Hudson (shoulder) will go on the disabled list or seven-day personal leave list to clear space for SP Jake Peavy (back) Friday, July 3. Hudson is dealing with a serious family matter and is also dealing with some physical issues, including a sore right shoulder. "Just (scapula) stuff and crankiness," said Hudson, who also has had ankle and hip issues. "It's one of those things that happens throughout the season with most people. When you get older it gets harder to deal with sometimes."

Fantasy Tip: Either way you slice it, Hudson ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) is being bumped out of the rotation with Peavy returning. It's unclear how long he'll be away from the team, but it could be an extended timetable, and he could return in a relief role. Hudson has no business being owned in the majority of fantasy leagues now.
