San Francisco Giants SP Tim Hudson (ankle) didn't wear a brace on his ankle while throwing live batting practice Friday, Feb. 21, and came away from the session encouraged about his surgically repaired ankle. However, he has yet to take part in any fielding drills. "I'm on my way," he said. "I'm a little further behind than I normally am from a body standpoint. Then again, I've never been this old before, either."

San Francisco Giants SP Tim Hudson (ankle) threw his first full bullpen session Sunday, Feb. 16, throwing roughly 30 pitches. He didn't have any problems and said he felt good. "I feel like I'm the same as far as throwing goes. It's all a process," he said. "I didn't think about the ankle. The only time I really notice it on occasion during the side to side (movements during conditioning)." The team expects Hudson to continue making progress this spring.

Updating a previous report, San Francisco Giants SP Tim Hudson (ankle) has already thrown three bullpens and will throw his first formal bullpen Sunday, Feb. 16. His broken ankle is "pretty close to 100 percent," and Hudson doesn't think about it when he's running. The team plans to be cautious with him during running and fielding drills, however. Hudson said he's right on schedule to take his first turn in the rotation in the regular season.

San Francisco Giants 2B Marco Scutaro (finger) is pain-free after having surgery to insert a pin in his finger after the season, and he's been strengthening his core in the offseason. The Giants plan to limit him early in spring training, and the team also plans to take it easy on OF Michael Morse (wrist) and SP Tim Hudson (ankle).

San Francisco Giants SP Tim Hudson (ankle) threw off the mound recently and did some light jogging. He's expected to throw bullpens with the rest of the staff from the onset of spring training, but he won't do all of the running and conditioning drills.

San Francisco Giants SP Tim Hudson (ankle) had a screw removed from his broken ankle last week and expects to be ready in time for spring training, even though he has yet to resume running. "The ankle's coming along just fine, not quite 100 percent right now but it's well on its way," he said. "I anticipate in the next month or so start throwing bullpens."
