Rangers | Kyle Lohse signs with Rangers

Fri, 13 May 2016 10:09:04 -0700

Free-agent SP Kyle Lohse (Brewers) signed with the Texas Rangers Friday, May 13, on a one-year deal worth $2 million with $1.5 million in performance bonuses.

Fantasy Tip: The 37-year-old fell off last season with a 5.85 ERA. He still has enough stuff to battle, but he could struggle in the American League and in the Texas heat. He's worth claiming in AL-only for depth, but he isn't worth much more.

Rangers | Texas interested in Kyle Lohse

Sun, 08 May 2016 07:21:26 -0700

The Texas Rangers have expressed interest in free-agent SP Kyle Lohse (Brewers).

Fantasy Tip: Several other clubs also appear to be pursuing the 37-year-old right-hander, who threw for interested teams Friday, May 6. If signed, he should be viewed as a back-of-the-rotation option for single-universe fantasy leagues.

Angels | Halos interested in Kyle Lohse?

Sat, 07 May 2016 11:39:29 -0700

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim were one of several teams that watched free-agent SP Kyle Lohse (Brewers) throw at a recent showcase, which reportedly went well.

Fantasy Tip: The Angels have a need for starting pitching following the recent season-ending injury to SP Garrett Richards (elbow). Lohse went 5-13 with a 5.85 ERA in 37 games (22 starts) for the Brewers in 2015 and is an innings eater who doesn't rack up many strikeouts. If signed, the 37-year-old right-hander should be viewed as nothing more than a back-of-the rotation option for AL-only fantasy leagues.

MLB | Kyle Lohse looking for the right team

Mon, 18 Apr 2016 14:51:14 -0700

Free-agent SP Kyle Lohse (Brewers) is looking for the "right fit" before signing a contract. He has received interest from the Detroit Tigers, Baltimore Orioles and Cincinnati Reds, and the Orioles have offered Lohse a contract.

Fantasy Tip: Lohse has a 5.8 K/9 mark during his 15-year career, and his ERA ballooned to 5.85 last season. There is extremely limited fantasy upside here, especially if Loshe signs in the American League. He is an innings eater who likely won't help in any particular category, and those are the worst pitchers to own in fantasy.

MLB | Multiple teams interested in Kyle Lohse

Thu, 24 Mar 2016 18:14:18 -0700

The Baltimore Orioles, Cincinnati Reds, Detroit Tigers and Texas Rangers were among the teams represented at a showcase for free-agent SP Kyle Lohse (Brewers) earlier this week.

Fantasy Tip: The Miami Marlins had been the only other team connected to Lohse but it appears unlikely that they will pursue him at this point. The 37-year-old righty went 5-13 with a 5.85 ERA in 37 games (22 starts) for Milwaukee last season and should be viewed as nothing more than a back-of-the-rotation option for single-universe and cavernous mixed leagues.

MLB | Five teams to watch Kyle Lohse pitch

Tue, 22 Mar 2016 23:01:29 -0700

Free-agent SP Kyle Lohse (Brewers) will have a showcase in the Phoenix area Wednesday, March 23, and five teams will send scouts to watch him pitch.

Fantasy Tip: Lohse tumbled to a 5-13 record with a 5.85 ERA in 37 appearances (22 starts) over 152 1/3 innings in 2015 with the Brewers. He won 11 or more games in four straight seasons from 2011-14, and he could potentially help out in the right spot. Fantasy owners should monitor the situation.

Marlins | Miami looking for more starting pitchers

Sun, 14 Feb 2016 12:40:59 -0800

Free-agent SP Kyle Lohse (Brewers) and SP Alfredo Simon (Tigers) are candidates for the Miami Marlins, but the pitchers may want to wait for major league contract instead of hoping to make a team on a minor league contract.

Fantasy Tip: The Marlins are looking to add depth for their starting rotation, but it is not known if they will be willing to sign a pitcher to a major league contract. Lohse and Simon will be able to find jobs at some point but are not more than AL- or NL-only pitchers depending on where they sign.

Marlins | Miami interested in Kyle Lohse

Thu, 21 Jan 2016 17:26:27 -0800

The Miami Marlins have expressed interest in free-agent SP Kyle Lohse (Brewers).

Fantasy Tip: The Fish are looking for veteran rotation depth and they may turn to Lohse if they deem fellow free-agent SP Doug Fister (Nationals) to be too pricey. The 37-year-old right-hander went 5-13 with a 5.85 ERA in 37 games (22 starts) for Milwaukee last season and should only be considered as a late-round flier in NL-only fantasy baseball leagues.

Brewers | Tyler Cravy entering rotation

Thu, 06 Aug 2015 10:48:58 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SP Tyler Cravy will replace SP Kyle Lohse in the starting rotation, according to manager Craig Counsell. Cravy will make the start against the St. Louis Cardinals Friday, Aug. 7, after being recalled from Class AAA Colorado Springs. Lohse was 5-13 with a 6.31 ERA and gave up 25 home runs. Lohse will move to the bullpen but could also be released. The Brewers tried to trade Lohse at the deadline but couldn't find any takers.

Fantasy Tip: Lohse can be dropped in all formats now. Cravy will be at the minimum FantasyScore price for his start tomorrow night against the Cardinals. He gave up just one run in seven innings against St. Louis in his first start of the year, but he'll be a weaker option for FantasyScore users in his first start back in the big leagues.

Brewers | Kyle Lohse in rotation for now

Mon, 03 Aug 2015 16:23:16 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SP Kyle Lohse will remain in the starting rotation for now, according to manager Craig Counsell.

Fantasy Tip: Lohse ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) has struggled this season with a 6.31 ERA and a 1.47 WHIP in 22 starts. Owners should avoid using Lohse until he is able to put some good starts together.
