Rangers | Adrian Beltre still dealing with injury

Mon, 20 Jul 2015 14:53:37 -0700

Texas Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre (thumb) said the All-Star break did not help his sore thumb and continues to search for a way to heal his thumb. Beltre said he does not know if he should be playing with the injury.

Fantasy Tip: Beltre ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) has picked up at least one hit in six of his last seven games despite his injury. He has one home run and five RBI in his last 21 games and may not be a top-notch option for owners on FantasyScore since the injury is affecting his power.

Rangers | Texas has struggled against Sonny Gray

Thu, 25 Jun 2015 10:01:19 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus, OF Leonys Martin, 3B Adrian Beltre, 2B Rougned Odor and C Robinson Chirinos are a combined .128 (14-for-109) in their careers against Oakland Athletics SP Sonny Gray, who they face Thursday, June 25.

Fantasy Tip: None of the players mentioned for Texas are hitting particularly well at this time, either, so it's best to stay away from them on FantasyScore this afternoon. Beltre ($4,800, 9.6% of cap), who came off the DL early the other day, is still swinging with pain in his thumb.

Rangers | Adrian Beltre not 100%

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 16:15:13 -0700

Texas Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre (thumb) is not 100% after being activated from the disabled list Tuesday, June 23. "I don't pretend to think he's 100%, but whether we wait a week or have him go take a few at-bats on rehab, it was going to be there a while," general manager Jon Daniels added. "He's not going to further hurt himself, we've been told. It's not a surgery. The doctors say he's not risking anything. Today, he felt like he took another step forward."

Fantasy Tip: It sounds as if the Rangers were desperate for a power-hitting righty bat after they've been grounded against lefties lately. It's unknown how Beltre's gimpy thumb will affect his power stroke at the plate, so it's best to hold off on using him on FantasyScore for $4,800 (9.6% of cap) for the time being.

Rangers | Adrian Beltre activated from DL

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 15:45:50 -0700

Texas Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre (thumb) was activated from the disabled list Tuesday, June 23.

Fantasy Tip: It's a bit of a surprising move, as Beltre ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) was expected to need more time for his thumb to heal. Take a wait-and-see approach with Beltre on FantasyScore to see how he fares at the plate with a likely less than 100% thumb. He's hitting cleanup tonight against Oakland Athletics starter Jesse Chavez.

Rangers | Adrian Beltre still can't swing

Fri, 19 Jun 2015 08:57:19 -0700

Texas Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre (thumb) is still unable to swing a bat, but the stitches in his left thumb have been removed. Beltre has been playing catch every day in the interim. "I've tried every day," Beltre said. "It's not as close as I want it. I'm not happy, but what can I do, get a disposable thumb?"

Fantasy Tip: Hanser Alberto ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) hasn't done much in Beltre's absence, but he's hitting .274. He'll continue to fill in while Beltre is out. Beltre will need at least a week of swings and a potential rehab assignment before returning.

Rangers | Adrian Beltre not healing

Tue, 09 Jun 2015 16:27:03 -0700

Texas Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre (thumb) said his thumb isn't healing as quickly as he'd like, and he's getting frustrated. Beltre won't be ready to return once his 15-day disabled list stint is up.

Fantasy Tip: The longer Beltre is out, the more value Joey Gallo ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) accrues in the short term. The most likely scenario is that Gallo is returned to the minors to play every day once Beltre is healthy. In the meantime, he's a risk/reward play on FantasyScore because of his frequent swings and misses. But he has some of the most intriguing power capabilities of any youngster in the big leagues.

Rangers | Adrian Beltre officially on DL

Tue, 02 Jun 2015 08:59:13 -0700

Texas Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre (thumb) was officially put on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained left thumb Monday, June 1, and 3B Joey Gallo will be purchased from Class AA Frisco Tuesday, June 2. General manager Jon Daniels said Gallo will be in the starting lineup most of the time. Gallo was hitting .314 with nine home runs and 31 RBI in 34 games in the minors this year, and all nine of his long balls were in the last 23 games. Gallo is expected to go to Class AAA Round Rock when Beltre returns from injury. He has 113 home runs and 277 RBI in 300 career minor league games.

Fantasy Tip: Gallo ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) is a tall, physical specimen with plenty of pop that certainly will translate to the major league level. However, use your FAAB money wisely while acquiring him, since he'll strike out plenty, and it looks like Texas is using him as a temporary solution to their third base spot with Beltre on the DL. At FantasyScore, he'll be a high-risk, high-reward commodity in the short term.

Rangers | Adrian Beltre out two weeks

Sun, 31 May 2015 15:47:03 -0700

Texas Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre (thumb) is expected to miss two weeks with a sprained and lacerated thumb he suffered Sunday, May 31, against the Boston Red Sox. 2B Adam Rosales replaced Beltre at third.

Fantasy Tip: Beltre ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) should be stashed away immediately until he is 100%. Rosales ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) should see plenty of playing time in Beltre's absence and should be a solid alternative. Joey Gallo, Beltre's presumed heir apparent at third, has played outfield in the minors; there is a chance Gallo could get called up but the team may want to leave him in the minors and keep his arbitration clock from starting.

Rangers | Prince Fielder off to scorching start

Thu, 28 May 2015 12:14:35 -0700

Texas Rangers 1B Prince Fielder has hit nine of his 10 home runs in May and has the American League's best batting average at .368. Fielder went to designated-hitter duty this season, and he is using bats from 3B Adrian Beltre's collection.

Fantasy Tip: Fielder ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) is a year removed from a neck issue that may have also hampered his final season with the Detroit Tigers. Surgery, a new attitude, and Beltre's bats appear to have helped out. A lot of it is also attributed to Fielder, who is now a must-start in FantasyScore leagues.

Rangers | Adrian Beltre reaches milestone

Fri, 15 May 2015 21:03:16 -0700

Texas Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, a run scored and an RBI in an 8-3 loss to the Cleveland Indians Friday, May 15, and he became the 52nd player in history to reach 400 home runs.

Fantasy Tip: Typically one of the steadiest performers, Beltre ($5,300, 10.6%) has struggled a bit in 2015. That being said, he does have four multi-hit games in his last six so he could be rounding into form. It might be a good time to jump on the Beltre bandwagon at FantasyScore.
