Indians | Three Tribe regulars sitting out

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 14:42:12 -0700

Cleveland Indians 3B Juan Uribe and OFs Lonnie Chisenhall and Rajai Davis are not in the starting lineup Wednesday, April 27. 3B Jose Ramirez is at the hot corner and is batting seventh, OF Marlon Byrd is starting in right field and is hitting eighth, while OF Tyler Naquin sees the start in center field and is batting ninth against Minnesota Twins SP Jose Berrios.

Fantasy Tip: The Tribe is facing a top pitching prospect making his major league debut in Berrios, so their is plenty of risk and reward for all three players in daily formats. However, with all three near the bottom of the lineup, they're more of desperation deep sleeper picks.

Indians | Juan Uribe returns to lineup Sunday

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 08:48:40 -0700

Cleveland Indians 3B Juan Uribe is back in the starting lineup against Detroit Tigers SP Shane Greene Sunday, April 24, batting seventh. 3B/OF Jose Ramirez, who played the hot corner Saturday, April 23, will move back to left field and bat fifth, while OF Rajai Davis receives the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Although Uribe is batting just .189 through 37 at-bats this year, he is batting .250 (5-for-20) versus righties and .333 (5-for-15) against right-handed starters, so he should be viewed as an inexpensive flier option in daily contests.

Indians | Juan Uribe not in the lineup

Sat, 23 Apr 2016 09:04:06 -0700

Cleveland Indians 3B Juan Uribe is not in the starting lineup against Detroit Tigers SP Anibal Sanchez Saturday, April 23. SS Jose Ramirez will start at third base and is batting sixth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Ramirez has recorded at least one hit in seven of his 10 games this season but has only one hit in his last 11 at-bats. Ramirez could be a sleeper option in some daily fantasy leagues but likely can be avoided in most mixed leagues.

Indians | Juan Uribe will finally join camp

Fri, 18 Mar 2016 11:09:15 -0700

Cleveland Indians 3B Juan Uribe will rejoin the team Sunday, March 20, after dealing with visa problems in the Dominican Republic.

Fantasy Tip: Fortunately for Uribe, he'll have two weeks of spring action in front of him when he arrives, which should be enough time for the 15-year veteran to get into game shape. In addition, he also doesn't really have much competition at third base, as he only has to beat out Giovanny Urshela for the starting job. However, even if he prevails with the majority of playing time at the hot corner, he's still only an option for deeper fantasy leagues.

Indians | Cleveland likes Giovanny Urshela

Wed, 09 Mar 2016 16:15:24 -0800

Cleveland Indians 3B Giovanny Urshela is viewed as the team's third baseman of the future even after they brought in 3B Juan Uribe this offseason. However, Urshela still needs seasoning, and he's likely to start at Class AAA Columbus. He hit .225 with a .608 OPS in 81 games with the Tribe last year.

Fantasy Tip: A bad shoulder was mostly to blame for Urshela's terrible second half. There is power potential in this bat at the hot corner, though, but you'll need to remain patient. He's only an AL-only option for right now.

Indians | Juan Uribe undergoes physical

Sat, 27 Feb 2016 19:15:10 -0800

Cleveland Indians 3B Juan Uribe was at the team's spring headquarters Saturday, Feb. 27, to undergo a physical exam. He is expected to serve as the team's starting third baseman.

Fantasy Tip: Uribe could be a sneaky sleeper in AL-only fantasy play and some deeper mixed formats as a corner infielder if he stays healthy. It's his first time in the American League since 2008 when he was with the Chicago White Sox. He has solid power with a decent average and OPS when he is 100 percent.

Indians | Giovanny Urshela could start in minors

Fri, 19 Feb 2016 17:27:30 -0800

Cleveland Indians 3B Giovanny Urshela could begin the 2016 season with Class AAA Columbus, as a result of the team signing 3B Juan Uribe.

Fantasy Tip: The 24-year-old Urshela batted just .225 with six home runs and 21 RBIs in 81 games during his rookie campaign, so the club may consider having him start the year in the minors to gain more seasoning. He should go undrafted in most fantasy formats, although owners in AL-only and dynasty leagues should keep tabs on his progress throughout the season.

Fri, 19 Feb 2016 11:40:05 -0800

Free-agent 3B Juan Uribe (Mets) agreed to a deal with the Cleveland Indians, pending a physical, Friday, Feb. 19.

Indians | Cleveland made offer to Juan Uribe

Sat, 06 Feb 2016 11:49:26 -0800

The Cleveland Indians have offered free-agent INF Juan Uribe (Mets) a one-year deal worth about $3 million. He reportedly wants more money if he is going to be a starting player but would settle for less money as a reserve.

Fantasy Tip: If Cleveland winds up signing Uribe, he would likely platoon at the hot corner with Giovanny Urshela. He should be viewed strictly as an option for the later rounds of single-universe and deep mixed leagues due to the limited amount of playing time he would likely receive.
