New York Yankees OF Carlos Beltran (illness) is batting fifth and playing right field against the Detroit Tigers Monday, April 20. Beltran has missed the past two games because of an illness.
Fantasy Tip: Beltran ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) is off to a slow start (7-for-38), and opposing starter Alfredo Simon is crafty. Still, at Beltran's price point, he is worth consideration as a low-priced flier for daily contests.

New York Yankees OF Carlos Beltran (illness) could return to the lineup Monday, April 20, against the Detroit Tigers, according to manager Joe Girardi.
Fantasy Tip: Beltran ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) was starting to show some signs of life at the plate prior to falling ill, but he is still hitting just .184 on the year with a pitiful .289 slugging percentage. He isn't worth starting at FantasyScore right now.

Fantasy Tip: Beltran ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) probably will be able to return a few days once he is over his illness. Garrett Jones ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) is starting in his place but not be a great option on FantasyScore since he has gone 2-for-14 this season.

New York Yankees OF Carlos Beltran (illness) is out of the lineup Saturday, April 18, due to illness. He's questionable for Sunday, April 19, as well.
Fantasy Tip: Chris Young ($2,200, 4.4% of your cap) has had a solid start to the season with a .292-2-4 line in 24 at-bats. He's a late plug-and-play option on FantasyScore, but he's facing a hot starter in Tampa Bay Rays SP Jake Odorizzi.

New York Yankees OF Carlos Beltran is not in the starting lineup against Boston Red Sox SP Wade Miley Friday, April 10. In his place, OF Chris Young is starting in right field and hitting seventh in the lineup.
Fantasy Tip: Young ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) is cheap at FantasyScore, but he's a low-end outfield option with a full slate of games Friday evening. Young hit just .149 with two home runs in 74 at-bats against left-handers in 2014.

New York Yankees OF Carlos Beltran (elbow) is slated to make his spring debut Friday, March 6. "I'm happy. I'm excited, of course," Beltran said, "I feel pretty good, making improvement every day. I'm taking a lot of swings like I used to in the past in Spring Training. The elbow feels good." Beltran is looking to put his elbow injury behind him and reclaim his spot as the Yankees' everyday right fielder after playing 76 of his 109 games as a designated hitter last year.
Fantasy Tip: A healthy Beltran should easily improve upon his forgettable -- for those who weren't saddled with his terrible season -- stats from last season. He's a late-round rebound candidate who could play like a fourth outfielder, but it's probably best to draft the 37-year-old hitter with tempered expectations.

Baltimore Orioles DH Nelson Cruz's two-run homer Sunday, Oct. 5, against the Detroit Tigers was a historic blast. It was Cruz's 16th postseason home run and his eighth in the playoffs against the Tigers. Cruz has now broken a tie with New York Yankees legend Babe Ruth and moved into ninth all-time on the postseason home run list (with Carlos Beltran). Cruz and Beltran are tied for fourth among those who played in 2014.
